Summary: Please, do see it and think about it!
Review: Good performances, good idea (by the way, which one is *really* new?), good realization. It has proven Niccol's point in both this movie and Gattaca: Even producers and sponsors are human beings after all and capable of learning and getting it right. If cinema as an art is capable of combining accessibility and relevance, this is the kind of movie cinema was conceived for.

Summary: Good the first time through....
Review: I really enjoyed watching this film....the first time. I sincerely enjoyed the movie and all it had to offer but I don't believe this is one of those "must have" movies everyone claims it is. I own over 800 movies, 150 on DVD alone, but fail to see the reason to purchase this movie. I have watched the movie a second and third time and didn't catch anything I missed on the first viewing, and was incredibly bored...especially the third time through.

If you have not had the chance to view this movie, by all means do, I don't believe you will be disappointed. However I do believe that this movie is one of those that if you do purchase it it will just sit collecting dust while you watch Apollo 13, City of Angels, or The Rock over and over again.

Summary: Don't waste your time!
Review: I'm not sure what movie all of the other viewers have seen, but the one I saw SUCKED! That two hours of my life was wasted, when I could have been doing something more useful like sleeping.

Summary: A break-through for Carrey!
Review: Bravo to Jim Carrey, who shows us that he has the talent to bring home an Oscar. His comedy of "The Mask" and "Ace Ventura" is seen in his portrayal of Truman's aggravated state, but we also see a serious side of Jim Carrey that proves his ability to act is not a farce. Worth seeing, worth buying, worth keeping. Take it from someone who hates Ace Ventura, Mask, and Cable-guy.

Summary: Best Picture 1998
Review: Go Truman. The best film of 1998 is, (surprisingly) a Jim Carrey drama!!! Carrey gives an unflinching performance as Truman, the unwitting celebrity who was once an unwanted child. On the outside, Seahaven Island is a normal town. But take a closer look, and you'll see Hollywood working its magic to exploit a human life. You pick up something new every time. Carrey for Best Actor, Truman for Best Picture, and Weir and Niccol for Director and Screenplay.

Summary: It was moving and I felt sorry for Truman.
Review: I thought Jim Carrey was the best he's ever been. Anybody who says he can't do drama, don't know a good actor when they see one. I felt sorry for Truman and he knew what real love was like with Sylvia.

Summary: An ingenue finds out THEY'vd lied to him-about everything..
Review: As a product of a famous intermountain west religious cult that shall remain nameless(think 2002 Olympics), I idenified strongly with Truman, and what was a fun movie for some was an awakening for me. Having been suckered by a family and culture, and having them control me with outright and subtle lies(for my own good I'm told), so that I would still perform as they wished, I didn't laugh as much as some in the theater did. I guess it was pretty funny if it wasn't so close to home. This is a really good movie on a number of levels.

Summary: Poor remake of "The Prisoner"
Review: I was disappointed by this movie when I saw it. Essentially it is a remake of the cult 1960s British TV series "The Prisoner" but I'm afraid it comes in a poor second. In "The Prisoner", the mystery associated with a man trapped in a surreal imaginery world is maintained throughout the entire TV series. In "The Truman Show", the producer lets the secret out of the bag in the very first scene!! Trust Hollywood to ruin a good idea...

Summary: I laughed, I cried, I loved it!
Review: I mainly went to see this show because of Ed Harris. I figured anything he was in was worth going to see because he is so discriminating about what he does. I went away a convert to Jim Carrey. Who knew the talking derrier could act? Well, with this movie he puts his detractors in their place. I haven't felt this way about a movie in years. A refreshing concept, and an admirable execution thereof. If somebody in this movie doesn't win a Golden Globe or Oscar from this, it will be the crime of the decade.

Summary: WHAT ELSE I CAN SAY?!!!? AMAZING..............!!!!!!!!
