Rating: Summary: Snoochie Boochie Review: I won't get long-winded and overly-analytical. This was simply the funniest movie I've seen since I saw Animal House for the first time. Of course, that comes from a long time Kevin Smith fan. Clearly, Smith has gradually come to understand that Jay and Silent Bob are the funniest and most endearing characters in his movies as evidenced by his increase in their exposure to us in each subsequent movie. I can't wait for the DVD release and the next View Askew production. Snoogans!
Rating: Summary: Kicks... Review: Wow! That is all I have to say. WOW! This movie was the best! Kevin Smith has outdone himself this time. He borrowed from the best and improved on the bad. The gay jokes were light hearted but I can see why people are so sensitive about it. I personally think they were great and totally in character for the dynamic duo J & SB. SB only talks like twice in the whole movie but as always, he shows his underlying intelligence. And J? Well, we ALL thought it was about time for him to get some, so why not let it be Shannon Elizabeth? Oh, and if you have seen the movie already, this next line was indeed long awaited and I'm glad that Kevin convinced Mark Hamill to say it: "Don't fluck with the Jedi Master!" :) So in conclusion, Rock on, Kevin Smith! May the Movie Force be with you! LOL
Rating: Summary: One of the funniest movies ever!!! Review: I was excited to get the chance to go and watch Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on it's opening night in theaters August 24, 2001. I thought that it was hilarious from start to finish. I love all of Kevin Smith's movies, and especially enjoyed this one. The movie is much funnier if you have watched all of the other ones.
Rating: Summary: well, if you gotta do it.... Review: I have to admit, I LOVE Kevin Smith's movies. If you haven't seen them, (Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mallrats...) there's really no point in bothering with Jay & Silent Bob, becuse it's so obvious that this movie was made for the hipe and the money, where the other movies all had...well, a point. I will say this, though, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back had me laughing my rear off for most of the movie, just watch out for the cheap shots: CONTINUOUS shoddy references to his past movies.
Rating: Summary: No vilification here.... Review: "Clerks" was one of the most clever and intelligent movies ever. "Mallrats" was witty and entertaining. "Chasing Amy" - a fantastic commentary on some alternative social issues, and very emotional. "Dogma" was an incarnation of what any thinking person might have wanted to say about organized religion...and kept you laughing. "Jay and Silent Bob"...? I want my 8 dollars back...and, the 50 cents I used for gas. And the .005 cents in electricity I used to watch the trailer on my computer. So why do I give it two stars? It would be one, but any die hard Kevin Smith fan has to give him kudos for all of the cameos and reunions. And, I'd be lying if I said his bringing to fruition a great Scooby Doo Crew fantasy didn't work for me. However, I think he expects a little too much from us, his loyal followers. Even the movie's theme revolves around people going to see his movie, and dogging it on the internet (a blatant mockery of everyone who paid for a ticket). It's as if he used his fame and notoriety from past movies to drag us into what could only be described as the Cannonball Run of 2001. I was most disturbed by the weak satire that kept popping it's ugly head throughout the movie. The key to satire is recognition; you shouldn't have to tell someone that you're being funny (and...I loosly quote: "hey, Kids...it's Mark Hamill! (applause)"...."can't you see that we're stereotypical fighting chicks?"). I did laugh aloud three whole times during the movie (okay, okay...keep the gas money), but it wasn't worth the 8 bucks. I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan. The biggest. But, frankly, I feel dirty...no, violated, having seen this trash. My advice is to wait until this movie comes out on TNT in, say, October. Then, bill View Askew for three hours (including commercials) of your time.
Rating: Summary: Movie Stars Don't make up for plot Review: I don't even want to write a review, I was a big fan of kevin smith until now. I am begining to think he was just lucky with his other story lines. This movie sucked, even with all the celebrities in it...
Rating: Summary: Inside jokes galor... Review: Upon first seeing this, I loved it. There were plenty of inside jokes ranging from Star Wars to old Kevin Smith films. After seeing Clerks again, though, I have to admit, "Jay" just gets pretty annoying after a while.
Rating: Summary: funniest movie ever Review: Woohoo, i can't stop laughing from this movie. If saying the F-word every 5 seconds for no f***ing reason wasnt funny enough, all those 'jokes' concerning homosexuality (youre doing it all wrong *shudder*) have got to make you laugh. The funniest part of the movie was when the only people other than my group of friends walked out of the theater before it was even half over. BEST MOVIE EVER! Take notes from this movie, movie directors, because it was funny as hell...... Kevin Smith seriously stunk in this movie ... i want to kick his @$$, but he will probably come over and kill me like in the movie. Oh wait, did i accidently tell about one of the only funny parts in the movie? well now you dont have an excuse to watch it.
Rating: Summary: Stale and Uninspired Review: Two hours of self-referential humor, ("Oohhh, lookie! We looking at the audience again! Whoo, we so funny!"), and jokes stale enough to make the writers of "Family Matters" cringe. That about sums it up. If you're a fan of Smith's other movies, you'll probably eat it up, because he recycles jokes from all his other movies. I didn't hate it, but it sure seemed like a big ol' waste of money. I was glad to see Jason Mewes actually ACTING for a change - and doing a half-decent job at it, too. Otherwise I was checking my watch all throughout.
Rating: Summary: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Gold!! Review: I just went to see the new movie "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" from View Askew productions. I really enjoyed the movie and found it one of the funniest movies I've seen in quite a while. Kevin Smith is a genius, thanks Kev! While I realize that the language is something not too good for young kids, it was still very entertaining and enjoyable to sit through. Please Kevin, keep giving us more of Jay and Silent Bob, most Americans can only aspire to be as cool as they are!
