Rating: Summary: Good for a final look at our favorite Jersey pair Review: Unlike all of Kevin Smith's other movies, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was not full of the plot or commentary that his others have. No reall interesting debates get talked about. It is basically a very large, and devistatingly hillarious, family reunion of past charaters and places. Though lack of plot and character depth do get in the way occasionally, the comedic part makes this movie worth every dollar. Not many directors have as much talent as Kevin Smith does to be able to make five movies as great as the New Jersey set.
Rating: Summary: These guys are GOLD Review: This movie was SO good, I can't even describe it. Well, I'll try. Two of the constant characters who have appeared in all of Kevin's movies now have their own little spinoff, namely "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back". Drug humor, dick and fart jokes, Star Wars references, and all normal staples of Smith movies are all there. Check it out. It's got my stamp of approval on it. Oh, and if I were you, I'd check the originals out first(Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma). It'll help you understand the plot.
Rating: Summary: Only Kevin Smith could have made this... Review: There is no way to explain this movie other than a laugh riot. However, a knowledge of all the previous movies is really required to understand many of the in-jokes. Also, it has a high replay value, being that every time you see it, you notice something new. Also, if you can still go see it in theaters or whenever it arrives on DVD, it is extremely fun to watch it under the influence of Jay's wares, if you catch my drift. Definitely not for the whole family, but definitely for someone who has a sense of humor.
Rating: Summary: Makes Cheech & Chong look like Marx & Engels Review: Oh man, it's good to see the Smithster back on form after the dissapointing Chasing Amy and Dogma. Slapstick! That's what he's good at. And jokes jokes. This film is funny and is Jason Mewes' finest hour, and as Hooper-X says: "it's just a 90 minute ...joke". Well, there is more to it than that. Can't wait for the DVD and for Kevin's commentary. In the meantime, you should check out his comic books.... Laters...
Rating: Summary: Gold for the Fans, Silver for the Rest Review: I admit I probably wouldn't have been able to make sense of several of the insider references in Kevin Smiths latest Red Bank Triolgy (!) installment if I hadn't seen the other films, but I seriously doubt if I would have laughed less. Not for nothing is Mr. Smith known for his ability to write his characters so richly. Jason Mewes' performance alone is worth the price of admission. I have even been known to refer to my wife as Boo Boo Kitty ... on occasion (and yes, she likes it). Hurry up and bring it out on disc; there's a space on my shelf for it.
Rating: Summary: A great funny movie Review: Though this is not as universally funny as some of Kevin Smith's previous movies. this movie is a movie lover's delight. Not only are Jay and Silent Bob still as funny as hell, but this movie manages to cram enough in-jokes and movie pastiches into itself to guarantee that there will be something here for everyone. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back may not be for the easily offended but if you can put your prejudices on the back burner for an hour and a half, you ought to enjoy this movie. Afterall, any movie that features Morris Day and the Time has GOT to be a winner, doesn't it? Bonnnnng!
Rating: Summary: Funny - Crazy - Personal - So full of K. Smith Review: It was soooo funny. Funniest flick I've seen in a long long time. I've been a huge fan of Kevin Smith for years, I really love his crazy universe and characters. It wasn't just another movie by Kevin Smith, cause theres no such thing as "another Kevin Smith movie". Everyone is a jewel, a new experience. Cast is (more than) great, jokes (more or less private I would say) just crak me up soooo much, universe is still wild and personal, the characters are still crazy and yet so real. I just loved it. But BEWARE: DO NOT go see this movie if you haven't seen his previous ones, all of them I would even say. Cause the jokes, the universe kinda revolve around them. Try to catch his previous pieces of work before and THEN you'll enjoy this one. No doubt. I can't say it his BEST movie, cause they are all so different and yet so close than it becomes real hard to choose. And I don't think theres a choice to make anyways. To me they all appear as episodes, chapters, and might this one be the last (dunno??), its for sure an excellent one :-)
Rating: Summary: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back Review: Hilarious vulgar comedy about a couple of low lifes. Jay and Silent Bob appeared in Clerks, Kevin Smiths first film. They were pretty funny in the small parts they had, but this film exstends their possibilities. This film got pretty good reviews (even by Roger Ebert who loved it) but I guess you have to see it for yourself. I thought it was funny as hell, but you might think diffrent. Go see before you buy.
Rating: Summary: Fun, silliness, and blunts. (Who's got the blunts?) Review: Sorry, I couldn't resist...I went to see J&SBSB upon the recommendation of a friend (who could easily get a career as a Silent Bob double), not knowing much about Kevin Smith films. I had an *indecent* amount of fun watching the movie, more than I ever expected to. It's stupid, it's silly, it's rude, it's socially unacceptable. As long as you know that and can - even for just 2 hours - suspend any lingering amounts of prudeness in your soul, you should find some memorable humor in the movie. I have a lot of friends who consider me too boring and prudish (yet also liberal, as I have a large number of gay friends) who would be shocked to know that I loved this movie. And somehow, that makes me happy.
Rating: Summary: Finally their Own Film! Review: If you enjoyed such movies as Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, or Dogma: You will enjoy this movie. If you have children under 13 I wouldn't take kids to it the Language is Attrotious. Jay cusses pretty much every other word. I thought this was a very very good movie aside from the prevalent cussing.
