Summary: Lighten up critics!
Review: Not every movie is made to delve into the depths of our souls; this movie was simply hilarious! You have to take movies like DDG at face value; for its entertainment value. The movie is well-acted and I thought Kirstie Alley was great with her little "accent". The movie had some bizarre twists and turns which were unpredictable which made it very enjoyable. During the whole movie, my daughter and I would laugh and say, "Oh Gawd, this is awful" and still laugh and laugh. Even after watching it 3 times, we still laughed and laughed. If you need a dark, philosophical movie, go watch something else. If you've had a hard day and need to escape into fantasy and need some good belly laughs, then rent DDG. Oh, and critics, must you give away the whole movie when you guys rate these movies? For those who haven't seen it yet, it really is a bummer to give away the plot.

Summary: Trailers can be decieving....
Review: This movie is by FAR not aiming to be a comedy. In the trailer, which is included on the DVD, this movie claims to be studded with laughs. When I saw it online, though, I thought "Hey, that movie looks pretty good!" and I rented it later that day. When I saw it, I was absolutley blown away. This movie is a "mockumentary" with a simple goal for Amber Atkins: To either become the next Diane Sawyer or win a beauty pageant infested with beautiful girls that mean serious business. She goes for the beauty pageant, thinking it's all fun and games, but Amber doesn't know she's already WAY over her head. It turns out the mother of the second most likely winner, played by Kristie Alley, is a cold-blooded killer who will stop at absolutley nothing to make sure her daughter wins under her meek personality as a furniture salesman and your average mother. Get this: She blows up the most-likely winner by short-fusing her thresher, and it gets worse...much worse. It turns out her daugher does win the overall state pageant (after a hard day's work), but the next day, her daughter is blown up on a faulty parade float (that her mother had absolutley nothing to do with) and Kristie Alley goes into a very disturbing tantrum after her death, and is arrested for blowing up the most likely winner, and Amber's life is immediately at stake as she goes to the finals. I would not recommend this movie to kids, obviously because of the plot, but for bad language and a very disturbing vomiting sequence near the end that involves bad shellfish.

Overall, this movie is NOT a comedy. It tries to sell it that way, but it is really a docu-drama that really stays with you long after the movie ends. I would give it 1 star if I didn't love that movie; because don't get me wrong, I like docu-dramas, and also comedies, which I thought this was in the first place. But if the background of this review sounds very ugly to you, don't see this movie. Only see it if you're a hard-core drama fan.

Summary: Horrible!
Review: OK, I don't want to be mean or anything, but Kirstie Alley and Denise Richards really need to find new acting agents. This was probably one of the worst films of 1999 and maybe of all time. Its stupid plot consists of a snobby mother and daughter (Richards and Alley) who enter a beauty paegent in their town. Richards's only competition is Amber (Kirsten Dunst), a young beauty who lives in a trailer park with her beer-addicted mother. Then, it seems like someone is killing anybody who is involved in the beauty paegent. After Richards's character dies (yes, she dies by burning to a crisp, how original!), Amber wins the competition ad goes on to the finals. The bad news? The sponser of the competition went bankrupt and the competition is cancelled. A while later, Alley is in jail and Dunst is a news reporter. That ends this stinker. The only reason I gave this movie one star instead of none is because of Dunst. She was the only character with any sense in the movie, and got a good part with good writing. My suggestion? Don't rent this movie! Or, if you enjoy horrid movies, rent it now!

Summary: Where'd this movie come from!
Review: I can't understand how such a wonderful film could remain relatively obscure. I saw it on a whim and now I can't recommend it enough. This film is hilarious, ridiculous, and very moving all at once. There are fine performances all around but Kirsten Dunst is absolutely amazing. In what would at first seem to be a simple spoof of a beauty pageant, she made me care what happened to her character. Along with the very funny main plot is a touching view of small town life and the desperation to escape it. My only regret about this movie is that I did not discover it sooner. What more can one say?

Summary: Black-humored parody on US society!
Review: This is fun! Dark fun! Parodistic fun!

A movie with such a thin story and such mediocre acting that the producers made it as a documentary. And that was indeed a wise choice, 'cause it makes it very funny!

The best parody on the U.S. of A. since »The Simpsons«!

Summary: PATHETIC
Review: Well the my title says it all. Pathetic! Yes it had its really funny moments, but otherwise it was a mistake. What were they thinking! Did they actually think it could be a hit? I like Kirsten Dunst, but in this movie she was wasting her time. The plot was bad, the acting was bad, the writing was bad, well just about everything was bad. Horrible! How could did I even watch the whole thing. Just when you think the movie is getting good someone cracks a dumb joke or something so stupid happens that it completely covers up the very evry very few good parts in the movie. No good. Rent something else!

Summary: Hilarious
Review: If you like dark comedies then you'll love Drop Dead Gorgeous. It's a hilarious look at beauty pageants and has some hilarious lines. Ellen Barkin and her best friend are hilarious. I'm a big Kirsten Dunst fan and love most of Denise Richards' movies so I knew I'd like this title but I thnk even if you don't know these girls' work you will love this movie.

Summary: Love the actresses but unfortunately not the movie.
Review: There were some funny moments but considering the talent involved it was a letdown. If you want real fall down funny watch Waiting for Guffman.

Summary: Very funny movie about a deadly beauty contest
Review: This move came out after last summer's Austin Powers OK sequel! The movie takes palce in a Minnesota town called Mount Rose. The film is set up like a fake docementary. The main people in the moive are Kristie Alley(For Richer or Poorer), Ellen Barkin(Sea of Love), Densie Richard(Wild Things,Starship Troopers) and Kirsten Dunst(Jumanji,Interview with the Vampire,Dick) are all very funny! The contest starts turning deadly when the girls start dying off.Eventually the contest boils down to Richards and Dunst. The mother of one the girls was killing off the girls so her daughter could win! The ending is cute especially the upset girsl mad at the company for even starting the contest and going bankrupt! The DVD is great but it could of have a few more features such as commentary from the director, stars, behind the scenes, even how they etc! One of the best things about this DVD is whenever you choose someting off the main menu the girls fall dead! Overall I'll say it was better than Austin Powers seqeul becuase it spoofs the beauty contest industry right in the face! A must for viewers of any beuaty contests shown on TV! This movie was one of favorite movies beacuse it's so very funny!

Summary: This is the funniest movie.....ever!
Review: I love this movie! I've seen it 5 times and am not sick of it yet. This story is much more than a beauty pageant. It shows the lives of each "contestant" and what happens after the pageant. It has many plot twists and a suprise ending. And it is extremely funny! This movie has it all-murder, humor, and not-so-everyday-life events. Be SURE to see this movie~
