Rating: Summary: he's still got it Review: John Waters has still got what it takes to be funny, he knows the key to great comedy: profanity... something most of the great comedians agree with. Some think it's watered down but how can you expect a filmmaker to make the same thing for thirty years?
Rating: Summary: Better than "Shakes the Clown" Review: Really bad movie. I was bummed out that I spent time watching this farce
Rating: Summary: A Hilarious Treat for Those Not Easily Offended Review: While watching John Waters' "Pecker" I could not go more than a minute without breaking into laughter. This film contains such insanely funny ideas as "shopping for others" (Pecker and his friend go into a supermarket and place embarassing items in people's carts (for instance, Pecker finds a man with large muscles and puts 'Preparation H' into his shopping cart. You can imagine the chaos that ensues at the checkout registers...)) and for those with dirtier minds, "teabagging" (I'll let your imagination run wild.) Anyway, if you want a breath of fresh air from typical film faire, have a sense of humor (the sicker the better), and aren't easily offended, this is a must-see.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious Review: I have never really been a huge John Waters fan, but I had heard good things about this movie so I figured that I would give it a shot. I laughed so much that my belly hurt. This is definitely one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.
Rating: Summary: still got it Review: waters' proves that he can reveal the oddities of life on film, proving once again that the "normal" people are the strangest ones as seen thru the eyes of others
Rating: Summary: This movie was awful Review: From the start, i could see that Pecker was a sucker. Some juvenile deliquent, running around, shooting pictures of trashy neighbors. This movie was not for three seconds amusing. You should definitely NOT rent this movie. It's a waste of both time and money.
Rating: Summary: John Waters' Pecker is definitely worth seeing! Review: Pecker is an outstanding Waters' film. It's a hilariously funny send-up of the modern art "world" and an insightful look at the Baltimore scene. John's commentary track on the DVD is great and lets us take a peak into the witty and sometimes anarchic mind of Waters. Definitely 5+ stars!
Rating: Summary: "...one of the overlooked gems of 1998!" Review: I'm sorry I didn't see JOHN WATER'S PECKER on the big screen, as it certainly would have made my 10 best list for 1998. It's funny, sweet and totally off beat. Waters scores again. His commentary on the disc is the best I've heard since the laserdisc of EL MARIACHI.
Rating: Summary: Another great John Waters, but not as sick as others. Review: Young white trash boy lives with his parents in a small baltimore town that is all white trash. The main charecter pecker has a girl friend who works at the local self cleaners. Pecker also own a camera he fixed and loves take pictures of the every day live of this town. It went from taking pictures in food places to stealing in a grocery store, picture of his girl at the cleaners, but it just had happened his dad had a bar and a stripclub opened up across the street and showed full nudity. One day he left his dads place and looked in the window of the strip bar saw nudity and saw art in it and started taking pictures. Pecker developed these pictures and was going to hold ashow to show his art. This New York artist heard him (pecker) taking about this show and took a flyer she loved it. She took underground baltimore film and exploited it. This desroyed peckers live.. Waters shows the typical sell out arists on the new york sceen gets pecker rich. I think it was a good thing the money didn't get to Peckers head. Well great film ya should watch.
Rating: Summary: The Funniest Movie of the Year!! Review: Once again, John Waters has done it!! After "Serial Mom", I didn't think anything could get funnier, but in his new movie, "Pecker", anything goes. If you like the campy movies, this is the one for you. Definitely five stars for "Pecker"!
