Rating: Summary: BEST MOVIE EVER!!!! Review: Spiceworld is the best movie ever!!!!!It is so incredibly funny and can keep your attention for the whole hour and a half. Many reviews have called this movie awful and said the Spice Girls can't act.NOT TRUE.They rule and are great actors as far as i'm concerned.Especially Emma since she went to drama school.(she's my favorite)But anywhodely, this movie was fantastically acted,it had a great plot, and best of all great songs throughout the movie. If you like the Spice Girls you will love this movie. If you don't,well you will anyway once you see it. Peace,Love, and Girl Power!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Definition of a guilty pleasure. Review: No, it's not "War and Peace," but then, you didn't really expect an All-Spice rendition of "MacBeth," did you?The plot? Well, that's beside the point, isn't it? Something about a tour film, something about birthing babies, something about an evil tabloid plot to break up the Spice Girls (perish the thought!). What miniscule plot there is serves mainly as an excuse for random cameos, multiple costume changes, and self-spoofing fantasy sequences, e.g. the girls as Charlie's Angels style fighters in "SpiceForce 5". Oh yeah, there's music, too. (Forward through the concert scenes if you're not a devotee of Spice sound or you just aren't really in a masochistic mood.) It's all in high spirited goofy fun. Even the always reliable Richard Grant looks like he's having a hoot. As someone who doesn't own a Spice album (or even cooking spices for that matter, but that's a different story) and can't call herself a fan, I was genuinely surprised to find this movie so darn enjoyable. I'm not saying I'd start a grass-roots campaign demanding a sequel (er, Spice Universe?), but this flick's amusingly silly and benignly entertaining -- not unlike the Spice Girls themselves.
Rating: Summary: it's fun...come on and do it! Review: again, the spice girls are a pop confection made to be enjoyed, not to change music or get us involved in their political aspirations (a lighthearted shout of 'girl power' the exception). that being said, this is their 'hard day's night', made 2 tie in 2 their movie 'spiceworld'; it is though a bit more artistically reaching, for them anyways. 'stop' is cool motown; '2 much' is primo girl group balladry; 'move over' is a guitar-driven pepsi commercial; and 'viva 4ever' is a 'serious' effort from them. the album ends on a puzzling note with 'the lady is a vamp'-big band, '40's style group effort that makes you think they're gonna start tap-dancing in white suits with 'spice' in giant neon behind them. again, this group is a whole lotta fun, even if they are rapidly becoming a memory in pop culture. so get over yourselves and enjoy these memories. this is not bad manufatured pop at all. we should tell them to re-record '4ever' and start writing songs about their affairs, in an acoustic-guitar-sitar setting. 'rubber soul' anyone? more like 'plastic soul'. but what the hell?
Rating: Summary: Give it a chance. Review: As with every movie, there are those who like it and those who don't. But I think the reviewers here on this site that don't like Spiceworld are missing the point. True, the Spice Girls aren't the best actors and the movie is offbeat, but Spiceworld is made to be just fun. It's not supposed to be taken seriously. It's a fictional documentary on the Spice Girls busy lives filled with cameo appearances and outrageous scenes, all for the purpose of fun. I really wish people would give this movie a chance and watch it for what it is.
Rating: Summary: FORGETABLE DROSS Review: The Spice Girls have proved all critics wrong and although individually their vocals are thin and lack range and power, they have made some instantly memroable recordings and likewise their solo releases have been fairly good too given to prove that you don't really seem to have to have much singing power these days. This film is little more than extended concert footage with silly and painfully unfunny sequences linked to them. None of the girls could act their way out of a wet paper bag but i'm sure they don't care as they certainly made lots of money from this. Fans will be delighted whilst others will just gauge at how dross like this can be made and earn big money.
Rating: Summary: one down ,four to go .. Review: ok .. this is a total joke. someone please tell me is it really meant to be a movie?? i used to loath the spice jokes now i feel so sorry for them ,they must've realized finally that they have no talent at all whatsoeverthat they had to go and make this pathetic movie to make some money before people kicked them out..all i'm saying is that it was a waste of people's time and money ,and i don't mean us when i say"people" but i mean the actors and the crew
Rating: Summary: Funny! Spicey ! World! Review: Ya, the spice girls arent nearly as popular as they used to be, ok not at all, but sure ther were when they were around! And so that makes this a pretty good movie since I was a big spice girl fan. These girls are really funny here!
Rating: Summary: Let down... Review: I saw this movie when it first came out, a few years ago. That was when I was a HUGE Spice Girl fan, and would do anything to see them. I looked over the faults of the movie and just saw the movie because of them. Okay, well here's the lowdown: Plot: Simple, stupid, and it's kind of like an everyday thing. They try to get to this concert on time, it's pretty lame. Characters: THe characters the Spice Girls portray are themselves, and unless you don't know the Spice Girls, then you won't get how the act. The Acting Itself: It's not very good, like compared to the GOOD actors, i.e. Tom Hanks, Gwenyth Paltrow, etc... But it is suprising that they can act... somewhat. So then does Spice World deserve 2 stars? 1 star means it's completely lame. 2 stars means that it's on the edge of lame, but it's not good enough to be okay. It might appeal to people who younger, or are completely obsessed with the Spice Girls.
Rating: Summary: COOL SPICE Review: I thought this was great and I have to buy it. The ablum has class and i totally love it. My fav song off the ablum is 'stop' and i was totally gutted when it went in at 2. Spice Girls rule
Rating: Summary: Spice and the Auteur Review: The auteur theory of filmmaking is alive and kicking in this cinematic vehicle for the girls. "Auteur theory?" you may ask. "Yes, most definitively." The trend of cinema and other forms of art as a mainstream attraction and influence on everyday life have escalated to gargantuan proportions. As society becomes more "plastic" the perpetuators of "plastic" want to exponentially increase their monopolistic viewpoint and hold on the retail market and thus their hold on the individual. Many critics compared this film to "A Hard Day's Night" but they are sadly missing the point. "A Hard Day's Night" was the last film as that traversed the void from innocence into cynicism. George Harrison's scene with the advertising executive was a forerunner of thing to come as big business learns how to mold the teenage market. "Spice" in its entirety is about big business and the teenage market. Roger Moore seen with a pig in his lap is not doing a James Bond parody of Blofeld. Roger's character is commenting on big business and the plastic society it has created. That's no ordinary pig in his lap. That's a golden pig.
