Summary: A great DVD set that even fish and liver donors would love!
Review: Few groups have embraced the DVD format like Monty Python nor used to their advantage. In recent years, Python fans have been treated to the superb two-disc set of "Holy Grail" and the brilliant Criterion Collection edition of "Life of Brian" (expensive, but well worth), both must haves for one's DVD collection. Now comes "The Meaning of Life" a wonderful two-disc set filled not only with deleted scenes and funny commentaries but brand new material that shows the world's favorite Brits have not lost their touch. Of course, there's the film itself that does have it slow moments, yet moments like "Every Sperm is Sacred", "Sex Education" and "Mr. Death" are classic bits of satire. "The Meaning of Life" is the third great DVD set from the Python who have more than rewarded their fans over the years. The cheers for the Python and no, you cannot have my liver! I'm still using it!

Summary: Delightfully Hysterical and Joyus..Absolute Comic Perfection
Review: For as long as I can remember, I've always been a fan of MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, but that was the extent of my PYTHON intake. That's all I had known of theirs, but always heard good stuff about FLYING CIRCUS and their other films; AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, LIFE OF BRIAN, and of course, THE MEANING OF LIFE. I remember my dad always talking about a famous restaurant scene in which a large man explodes, but couldn't remember which PYTHON film it was from. Finally, I stumbled across THE MEANING OF LIFE...little did I know it was going to change my life forever.

After hearing so much publicity about it, I finally went out and bought it. I was delightfully surprised at how hard I was laughing. It had no limits. Gore. Bad language. Explicit sexual dialogue. Nudity. And who could forget; extremely crude humor (yet somehow sophisticated at the same time.)

The film is made up of many different sketches unlike their other films which just carry out one long story. Each sketch has something to do with the meaning of life...or do they??? The PYTHON members come back in every sketch as someone different in a different time. It's so ridiculously absurd, you can't help but laugh.

As far as this new Special Edition DVD goes...It's one of the best I've seen in a long time. Wonderfully zany and colorful menus guide you to pounds of special features specially created for this release. Everything is spread out over two discs, and there's even a director's cut of the film. Everything is pretty much perfect except for the lack of a booklet inside the case...another recent Universal release to have this problem was ANIMAL HOUSE. But everything else stands out so much, it more than makes up for that minor problem.

Everything said, I LOVE this film, and this DVD release really enhances the whole wild experience making this a must have for all PYTHON fans. This is definitely a film I can watch over and over and laugh every time. Every viewing is like visiting old friends..."Can we have your liver?"

Summary: Going out with a whoosh.
Review: What this movie lacks is grace. Monty Python as a group was falling apart by the time this movie was conceived, and it shows. The comedic timing is a little off, the skits that dont work are a few too many, and the links...lame. I'd suggest checking out some of the original television shows or either of the other two movies before buying this.

Summary: Take this cure when you're feeling blue!
Review: Egad, this movie's so funny. It's perfect for a group of friends who just want some profoundly funny satire, and it's also a great home-alone night off. There's a lot of serious fun poked at the Human Condition, fabulous musical numbers (which simultaneously poke fun at the musical genre) about reproduction and, er, well, the meaning of life. These guys put everything into perspective. [The only folks who might not like this film are Old Testament types. Sadly, they're the ones who'd benefit the most.]
Don't hesitate! Buy it!!

Summary: The Trashes Reality TV
Review: Just as TV commercials use the crucial R&B and rock music of the past to sell today's autos and such, and the kids sop it up like biscuits and gravy; kids need to get a dose of Monty Python to cure them of reality TV and the boring situational comedies and dramas on today's media.

MontyPythonland is where the kid who the teacher always had to plunk in the head for spacing out (meditating) left for. The what-if of sheer preposterousness that makes you laugh till your stomach hurts, without drugs.

Every ethnically offensive thing that you learned in the privacy of your backwards family and spewed out in your classroom or schoolyard is covered. I love this timeless piece.

Summary: Absolutely hilarious!!!!!
Review: Don't listen to anyone who says this movie is not funny. You do have a have a taste for the Pythons, so this shouldn't be the first Python film you see, but it is one of the funniest movies ever made.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It's really classic Python.
Review: Hey everyone! This is a great movie! You can't pick it up in the stores on DVD, get it on eBay, like I did.
But shopping issues aside, this is a must-have! If you love the show, you'll love "The Meaning of Life". Does this movie tell you the meaning of life? Sort of, but it's probably not too close to what the real meaning of life is. Hmmm...
Oh, anyway, as I was saying, there are such classic bits as; "Mr Creosote", "Middle Age", "The Third World", and so on. This isn't an "angst of life" movie though, it's a laugh out loud shocker that got lots of deserved controversy.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Almost the FUNNIEST Movie EVER Made
Review: Perhaps the only greater comedy than this is Monty Python's Life of Brian, and it doesn't have the "Every Sperm is Sacred" Song, or the "Not A Noel Coward Song". You will laugh until you explode like Mr. Creosote. Hilarious bad taste. Not for the squeamish or the humor-challenged. Anyone who says this movie isn't GREAT is WRONG! DON'T MISS THIS COMEDY MASTERPIECE!!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Meaning of Laughter
Review: The "Meaning of Life" is not as structured (if you can say that at all) as the first two Python films, but it still has all the energy and craziness. Travel with the Pythons as they show life from birth to adult hood, then to death. I would recommend educating yourself with the Monty Python filmography before watching this one, otherwise you just might be lost and confused.
