Summary: EXCELLENT
Review: A great movie with some fantastic gentlemen. A story about finding the right person for you and giving your all to them. A lot of male bonding that is funny especially with Hughley and Bellamy. Highly recommend!

Summary: A clunker
Review: I'm only giving this dull, silly flick two stars because of the gorgeous Morris Chestnut. This friends coming of age theme has been done to death, and has been handled far better in other flicks than it is here. Ostensibly, this film is about 4 upwardly mobile young black males and their relationships -- with women and each other -- but most of what we see is flexing and preening and a lot of chit chatting without enough story development. How does Jack go from jumping in the bed with Denise the first day that they meet, to being on the verge of making some type of committment? How long ago had she dated his father? How long were they dating? The other relationships are not nearly interesting enough to comment on, but I will say that Bill Bellamy was particularly loathsome. Ugh! There are few things worse than bitter, self-hating dudes. And a whole subplot about the lack of head? Tres tacky.

This movie is weak, and one of my greatest complaints is that the audience is not given any sense of how much time is supposed to have elapsed. One minute, Jack's parents are divorced, but still getting it on on the DL, but somehow they wind up getting remarried. Terry dumps his fiance 2 weeks before the wedding, but they manage to stay together. Puhleeze. It does have its funny moments thanks to the hilarious D.L. Hughley, but I was disappointed in the overall product.

And finally, why is it that Black films have to be so extreme? We either get the hood flicks filled with povert and despair, or the buppie flicks where everyone is gorgeous, professional, paid and shallow. How about something about the bulk of us who are somewhere in the middle?

Memo to Hollywood: no more Black wedding flicks please. Some of us have exhaled and are ready to go the next level. There is more the life than chasing tail, obsessing over relationships and hanging with the fellas/girls. I'd love to see some of that on the big screen.

Summary: Funny as Hell!
Review: I first saw this movie around the time of my birthday {Mar 26}. And ever since then, I was counting days when it was going to be available for rent/purchase. I bought it and watched it the same night. It is no wonder why DL is a "King" of Comedy. The man is brilliant with his witty repertoire and faster-than-a-speeding bullet one-liners. The man is a comic genius!! Not to mention the shenanigans of the Shemar, Morris and the ever-cynical Bill Bellamy. This movie is not a sleeper!! Go get this flick!!

Summary: Passable
Review: After the recent success of films depicting African American actors I was pacing around with bated breath for the release of this film. It was okay but nothing to write home about. So many films and books portray men in a negative light and I thought the brothers would use this as an opportunity to finally have their say. What a disappointment. Denise having had a relationship with her lover's father - trashy !!, that could have come straight out of a scene of a tacky chat show. Another guy having problems because his wife wouldn't perform intimate acts - majorly immature!! One guy dating other races because he feels that sisters are losers - redundant, boring, inexcuseable behaviour !!!! Terry literally ditching his bride at the altar - It would take more than a hug for me to forgive him. The only thing that saved the film is a half decent soundtrack and the fine Morris Chestnut, other than that I wasn't particularly impressed.

Summary: A Good Idea Gone Wrong...
Review: Alright, this could have been a terrific film, considering that African-Americans have been getting a treasure-trove of great films in recent years (Soul Food, The Best Man, Love & Basketball, Hav Plenty).

I looked forward to seeing this DVD, but got disappointed when I saw it. Too many scenes consisted of seeing the men (or women) sit around talking about their problems. Too much talking, and not enough action. Who cares if a character walked out on his woman! If I didn't see the action, I feel like I got cheated. So, needless to say, the script left something to be desired.

Also, some of the problems seemed contrived. D.L. Hughley's character willing to separate from his wife because just wouldn't get kinky with him was unbelievable.

If you just want something to watch, then rent this, but don't buy it. If you want to buy a good Black ensemble movie, I recommend The Best Man, Hav Plenty, or even She's Gotta Have It.

Summary: PRETTY GOOD MOVIE ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS & FRIENDS
Review: "The Brothers" was a well-acted film in the same ranks as "Waiting To Exhale"... for guys. Wasn't the greatest flick ever, but it definitely kept my attention while making me laugh more than a few times. Worth a viewing or two. DVD has good deleted scenes.

Summary: ITS ALREADY BEEN DONE!
Review: I thought that this movie was so-so.I would have though It was great In the days of the stereotypical images of african american's In movies. It seems as If I have already seen this movie(The best man, which I liked, and the wood). Its seems as though we are In danger of repeating the mistake of the 70's blackploxtation era (same rehased storylines) except it's now the ghetto or the buppie friends finding themselves. It's time to get away from this formula and try something new.

Summary: Feeling The Brothers. 8.5/10
Review: This has to be oe of the best African American film sience "Set It Off" besides "Down To Earth. This film had the best cast and the sisters I think made the film. My favorite character was Denise (Gabrielle Union) she was sexy and smart but she wasn't in the film as much as I would like to have seen her. I felt the story was good and was not boring ...."The Brothers" on the other hand is an enoyable film. The one character didn't like was Brian played by Bill Belamy, he came off like a jerk through the whole film and he is very disrespectful to woman. I feel that all races will enjoy "The Brothers" because it is a fun and real good movie with a point and motive.

Summary: Hysterically Funny Move, but why...
Review:

This is a movie about four men who were struggling with the women in their lives, and assigning meaning to those relationships as it related to them as individuals. It was explored within the realm of black American culture, but is relative to anyone.

Although there were important issues being examined in these characters lives, it was dealt with in a VERY funny way! I had to see the movie again to hear certain lines because the audience laughed so long and loudly that I missed several points!!

After the movie, my friends and I (males and females) discussed the various themes over coffee for 2 hrs. It caused all of us to examine ourselves, our relationships, our motives and methods more closely.

Whether you see this movie strictly for a laugh or for an examination of relationships from the male perspective, this is a must-see movie for people of all races and economic backgrounds! :)
