Summary: Falls short way short
Review: This movie is in the category of "Falls Short of Expectation" I saw this film the first day of its release and I was highly disappointed. I was looking forward to another African American film about young and talented successful men ie., "Love Jones" "Best Man" what I was left with is tired unbelievable dialouge a very predictable plot and just plain bad acting. I get the impression that Shemar Moore is only an effective actor if his shirt is off. This movie should have been wonderful but it isn't.

Review: I gotta tell you, this had to be my least favorite movie so far. I ran to see it as soon as it came out, only to find that it was the same ole "friends" movie with shallow actors. Don't get me wrong, The men were attractive but, will Shalmar ever be in anything WITHOUT taking off his shirt??

Summary: One Funny Film....
Review: I saw this in the theatres when it first came out-Hysterical is the best way to describe it.
I was glad to pick up the DVD... Plus who can complain about seeing Morris Chestnut in your living room anytime you choose?

Summary: GOTTA LUV THA BROTHAS!
Review: I REALLY ENJOYED THIS MOVIE! (IT DOESN'T HAVE ANTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT I AM A BIG MORRIS CHESTNUT FAN) I THOUGHT THAT DL HUGHLEY DID A GOOD JOB. I DIDN'T REALLY CARE FOR SHEMAR MOORE. I'M CURIOUS TO KNOW IF HE HAD A CLAUSE IN HIS CONTRACT FOR SOOOO MANY SHIRTLESS SCENES.

Summary: Great Romantic comedy that appeals to men too!
Review: This movie was a classic! The best romantic comedy film since "the wood". It was like a more mainstream "Whipped" and had so many classic lines like "Your momma's such a ho that she had knee pads sewed into all her dresses" and "your momma's such a slut I would have been your daddy but the line was too long" very funny and make sure you keep watching for the outtakes over the credits they are even funnier than the movie... Check it out!

Summary: impressed
Review: This movie is about true friendship triumphing over a number of impositions. The friendship first between the four main characters, the brothers get over their own self pride, to realise that friendship is support, not just giving your own opinion. Morris Chestnut who plays his role extremely well is just an average man with the fears every man has, he is afraid to commit to any woman, or when he does it always seems to turn bad for him because he just doesnt give it his all. Until the ever so talented and beautiful Gabrielle Union(Denise), comes into his life. He makes it obvious that he is not interested in a relationship. This doesnt last long as sex drags its arse into it, to find out the rest u would have to watch it, you will not be disappointed, this movie is definetly for everyone. 5 thumbs up. Enjoy.

Summary: "BROTHER"-LY LOVE
Review: I first saw "The Brothers" at the movie theatre in April 2001.
With a strong cast(Bill Bellamy-my cousin;Morris Chestnut;D.L.
Hugley;Shemar Moore;plus female cast members Gabrille Union
and the always hilarious Jennifer Lewis as well as the adorable
Tatayana Ali) and a good,devolpled script,"Brothers" surpassed
it's female counterpart,1995's glossy adaption of Terry Mc-
Millans' "Waiting To Exhale"(whose only strong performance came
from the masterful Angela Bassett's Bernadette) with it's a
tasty mix of romance, humor, and a look at the plight of Black families.
One thing I love about the "Brothers" is that it doesn't resort to the sterotypes(which even many well-intented Black
diretors and screenwriters sometimes do) and doesn't play along
with the tried notion of color(the darker Chestnut is persented
as an even more "sexy" presence than the lighter Moore).
Yet at first,I didn't get why they just had to play basketball.
"Is that all Black men do? Play basketball?",I thought to myself.
But then I came to the reasoning that Gary Hardwick-the director and writers of the "Brothers" -just wanted to explore a popular form of Black male bonding. So it doesn't come off as another sterotype.
So for a quality film showing for dignified Black male performers that doesn't pretend it's a "look inside the Black
Male Pysche" or gets corny(a la "Two Can Play That Game").
You gotta watch "The Brothers"

Summary: I am in full agreement with the review posted on 9-9-01.
Review: ...This movie is another round of mindless, glorified immorality. Even worse, this movie has an attractive setting with attractive actors (especially Morris Chestnut) but it's the same old tired WHORISHNESS that only African Americans advertise about themselves. There's NOTHING entertaining about this movie. In fact, it was nauseating. Either it's a Boys in the Hood (black on black killing) or another cheap knock off of Waiting to Exhale (Black males and Black females degrading each other). ... Tacky acting, tacky plot if any, tacky production. Better entertainment can be found in a strip joint.

Summary: Great DVD, okay movie.
Review: Likeable film about 4 men who go through the trials and tribulations of relationships. Call it "Waiting to Exhale" with testosterone. Morris Chestnut and DL Hughley give performances good enough to redeem the film of its predictable script. So why the 4 stars? Because the DVD is packed with a decent bunch of extras! We get a nice running commentary by the director, deleted scenes, a featurette, a music video, and, of course, the trailer for this film and other Sony releases. The best of these features is the "Conversation with Director Gary Hardwick." He gives a very informative look at the movie; this guy is so laid back and down-to-earth, he looks like he could be your next-door-neighbor. So if you've already seen the film and liked it, you should definitely pick this one up; the wealth of features make it more than a worthy purchase.

Summary: This movie was bad
Review: I was very disappointed at this movie. The typical male bull story about men who cannot (or find reasons not to) commit, the desparate woman (Jenifer Lewis) who sits back and waits for a man who she used to be married to until he's all played out. I wished I had not ordered this movie from PPV. Next time I'll ask someone.
