Rating: Summary: Great Surprise Review: I bought this CD just to get "This Guys In Love With You" by Harry C. Who, in my opinion, is one of the greatest artist alive. Anyhow, when I got this CD, Harry's song was great, and every other song on this CD is just as good. An awesome soundtrack from an awesome movie. Buy the movie and the soundtrack!
Rating: Summary: Cleverly delivers more substance than semblance Review: Long ago when the first cities were built I think humankind crossed some invisible line in the sand. Those early somewhat transitory mud, brick, and stone edifices to our genius were supposedly designed to provide a stable and secure environment in which families could thrive. Ever since, cities have become larger, more complex, and have assumed a life of their own while their lifeblood (that being men, women, and their children) has been irresistible sucked pell-mell into the fleetingly structured vortex that is concrete, steel, asphalt, and swirling hydro-chloro-fluorocarbons. Today city life can be compared to being strapped to a runaway Marry-Go-Round with only three speeds....FASTER, MORE FASTER, and FASTER STILL! Strangely, most Giga-politans, like their frog-in-the-slowly-boiling-pot counterpart, don't really notice the heat or speed until they dismount. This typicality's a rather abrupt landing and the result of some sorted near death experience. If you've any idea what I'm talking about, you'll know that due to the speed of life, those that inhabit modern Gothams have a somewhat blurred sense of reality. They're also lucky enough to survive to the next day, never mind have the time or disposition to fall-in love. This is the delightfully transparent theme Michael Hoffman uses in the romantic comedy One Fine Day. One Fine Day explores 24 hours in the lives of four people to tell a charming tail of preconceptions, striking a balance between career and kinder, and finding love while wallowed in urban chaos. On the one hand we have architect, Melanie Parker (Michelle Pfeiffer) and her son Sammy (Alex D. Linz). Mel's a seemingly hard-shelled stressed single mom who's got more balls in the air than hands or time to juggle them. She also has a better-safe-than-sorry attitude, partly because her ex-husband/musician's less than reliable performance when it comes to being there for son Sammy. Sammy's well mannered, but he's allergic to shellfish and dander, is not allowed to watch commercial TV, and can get into more trouble faster than Jack can make most women smile. Oh yeah, on the other hand we have Jack Taylor (George Clooney), an investigative newspaper reporter, whom at first glance seems charming, cocky, and like the crown prince of Never-Never-Land. He's also a little more than frustrated by being stereotyped as unreliable and a good-time father, knows he's got many different layers, including a dark chocolate one, and he can do more. One thing's for sure, he's devoted to his young daughter Maggie (Mae Whitman) who lives with her mom, and normally visits dad only on weekends She has a nasty habit of wandering off after stray cats and starting today she's spending the whole week with dad. When Mel and Jack first meet they take an almost immediate dislike to each other. Why? Simple, the weapons used to combat the speed of city life, pre- and mis-conception! Jack's either not there or late and Mel thinks he's a typically unreliable ex-husband and thus every bad thing that happens that day can and will be blamed on him. For his part Jack thinks she's arrogant and argumentative to the point of pointless exhaustion. As a backdrop Jack has just scooped a huge scandal that implicates both Mayor and Mob, but now his only source has reneged. Cross-town Mel's on the verge of landing or losing a colossal account for her hypo-allegoric autocratic firm. Together, these events by extension will determine the course of their careers for decades to come. But time and again, be it with the Wizard of OZ, tour boats, toy cars, fish, cell phones, soccer, marbles, cookies, and cats, Sammy and Maggie are the real glue that holds this story together. And that's just as it should be. During the course of 24 hours Mel falls for Jack, and visa-versa. Why? They slowly discover the reasons one is late, or the other is overly protective is because they are taking the time to be totally rapped up in their kids, only in different ways. One of the most touching moments of the film occurs on the floor of an antique shop when Jack lets Maggie and himself be a kid with a cat, Bob Kat by name. Yeah, he slows down despite the weight of the world and fate of this future pressing down on him. Another tender moment has Mel deciding to openly risk her career and ditch her clients to run like hell cross town to watch Sammy play soccer. On the surface One Fine Day appears an easy read, with a placid well-traveled plot, apparent stereotypes galore, and really nice looking pleasant people. It can easily be welcomed as yet another romantic comedy clone in a series copied so many times it's distorted and faded. However these perceptions may overlay still and slightly deeper waters. Fortunately, for those able to see beyond a purposefully superficial facade this sweet lighthearted comedy, by example, provides a string of precious little messages about the speed of city life and doing the right thing with regards to family. Although often stereotypes as something less, One Fine Day cleverly delivers more substance than semblance.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest love stories of the decade!!! Review: Pfeiffer and Clooney sizzle in this extraordinary love story for the 90's. Its a wonder these two aren't married in real life. Their chemistry is enchanting. Clooney takes the word charm to a higher level, while Pfeiffer demonstrates why she is still the most beautiful actress in Hollywood. This is a movie for the whole family and one that will make you want to watch it over and over again. Truly perfect from beginning to end.
Rating: Summary: One of the best in awhile. Review: A very well done movie. Great acting by the kids and the leads. Very down to earth and credible scripting and scenes. I think this movie is every bit as good as "Sleepless in Seatle" and I am a guy! PS. I hated "Bridges of Madison County".
Rating: Summary: nice movie Review: nice man and nice woma
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: Ich liebe ,One Fine Day' -- es ist sehr interressant und gut
Rating: Summary: A romantic film... Review: A wonderful film with two wonderful actors starring in it, Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney. These two caracters build a relationship after a hard beginning. Lots of fun and romance.
Rating: Summary: Not bad! Review: This movie was a good story, and definately well acted, but one thing makes it nearly impossible to watch - The little boy! His constant whining & disobedience prooves that there is a point when children need more than a "time-out". Luckily, Clooney's performance as the world's coolest dad is quite good, and Pfeiffer is great as a single mom trying to make a living, even though she spends more time on her career then she does disiplining her child.
Rating: Summary: Pfeiffer and Clooney - a great match! Review: This is a movie worth seeing. The difficult task of single working parents when something unexpected comes along and the fear of a new relationship.
Rating: Summary: Too beautiful to be true Review: You'll fall in love listening to it and when you hear it again you'll be sure your love is forever. Truly amazing compilation of songs.
