Summary: Julia, Get Another Personality....
Review: Enough already of the sarcastic pretty woman of a decade ago, can't she grow up and display just a bit of class & diversity now & then! This has to be the emptiest plot around & all just to reunite the 3 stars & director from her first big role. Who would believe any of these characters or the situation of a multi-weddinged babe & the small-town feeling is just as contrived. And a society columnist in the main-news section of USA Today? It might be fun for a few light laughs but I feel basically we should just forget this one!!

Summary: Dont fall for this bride
Review: While thinking a movie starting Julia Roberts, and Richard Gere what can be wrong, but to my surprise I found out that "everything" can be wrong, the bride was very un charming, and un-sexy, the acting was not to a satisfactory level, Richard was a little better in his part, but still the story didn't make much sense from the beginning, it was to long and boring..... DO NOT FALL FOR THIS ONE...

Summary: Not quite the dreck of Pretty Woman
Review: I like romantic comedies, but I truly, truly, truly hated Pretty Woman. To me, Runaway Bride seems to have a terrible pedigree, which it seems to have largely overcome.Fortunately, this film is reasonably well-paced and slickly written. It suffers a bit from predictability, cliche moments, improbability (I have never met anyone who reads the USA Today editorial page, let alone memorize the face of any of their writers), and overobvious product placement. The presence of serveral capable secondary performers (Hector Elizondo, Joan Cusack, Laurie Metcalf) helps when the Julia and Richard show flags from time to time. The flight scenes, though, are beautiful. The bride, trying desperately to escape her fate, madly dashing through the church . . .

Summary: One of the best romantic comedies ever done.
Review: This movie is great it was my favorite romantic comedy from 1999 and a lot better than Pretty Woman I don't know why Pretty Woman was so succesful I find it a bit boring but Runaway Bride I can watch it 1000000 times and never get tired, Julia is better in Romantic Comedies such as this one and My Best Friend's Wedding which is also great and maybe even an action romantic movie like Conspiracy Theory and something like Stepmom but not movies like Erin Brokovich and Mary Reilly well that's my opinion.

Summary: And this was the better Julia Robert movie in 99
Review: How many times is Julia Robert going to play the Pretty, Misunderstood woman who finally falls for the right guy. In this case Mr. Right is Richard Gere, who is pratrically a misogynyst at the beginning of the movie. Obviously the casting was supposed to remind us of Pretty Woman, but seriously how many times can you hope to redo _Pygmallian_ in a modern setting, with the same actors? The movie is not without charm, or funny moments, but this is one of the movies that I own that I wonder why I bought.

Summary: Lacks charm and freshness
Review: The contrived and utterly predictable plot is not the problem of Gary Marshall's disappointing "Runaway Bride". Few romantic comedies, also the terrific ones, are known for their original story. Much more important is HOW you embellish the standard plot. "Runaway Bride" does not a good job in this department. First of all you have to say that the characters in this film are neither appealing nor interesting in any way. This makes it difficult to be captivated. You don't really care about any of the people on screen. Especially Robert's role is poorly written and Gere does the best he can in his thankless part.. Only some of the supporting actors, for example the scene-stealing Hector Elizondo have at least one or two good scenes. This is not enough to save the film which is also far too long. The creators just didn't manage to conceal the schematic nature of the film well enough. "Runaway Bride" was a huge success at the box-office, mainly due to its high-voltage star duo. It is however very unlikely that it will become a classic like the 1990-hit "Pretty Woman", which at least had a certain freshness when it was released.

Summary: One of Julia Roberts best!
Review: This movie is as a feel good movie just as good as Julia Roberts populair previous movie "Notting Hill", but "Runaway Bride" doesn't have that much humor. Of course it has some very funny moments, but it is never realy hilarious like "Notting Hill" was. Not that that's a bad thing, because when you don't expect big laughs you will enjoy one of the best romantic comedies since "Pretty Woman".

Review: There has been a lack of good sweet movies theses past couple of years but Runaway Bride finally quenched my thirst . My freinds told me it wasn't a very good movie so I had low expectations for the movie but when I saw it I was shocked at their poor taste. Actuall I'm only 14 and so are they and they felt that the movie apealed to an older audience . I don't know if I can agree with them totally but I guess it is more apealing to people above 30 . I especially liked Richard Gere in this movie . He was alot better in this movie than he was in Pretty Woman . Julia Roberts was excellent as usual . I think the couples chemisty was also much better in this movie.

Review: I really enjoyed the movie, despite being a fan of neither star. Both did a credible job with their characters, and the overall effect was as delightful as some of the classic screwball comedies of the 30ies. I couldn't help wondering at the end of it all, though, if the lady was not just making the same mistake again. It seemed as though she was again allowing herself to be shaped by her love for a man or by a desparate need to be loved and fear of being unloveable as she "truely" was. But perhaps this is a subject for a sequel--Runaway Bride II? Runaway wife?

Summary: a definite for romantics
Review: i found this movie great i am a hopeless romantic and this movie is a real romantic movie with a great ending. i found it very slow to get started but once it did i found it very funny i loved it when richard gere stood up for julia roberts at the party when everyone else was putting her down i would advise everyone to watch this movie if like me you are a hopless romantic.
