Summary: It just doesn't get worse than this.
Review: It really is a pity that there is no 0 star option. This movie is one of the most ill-conceived ventures to have graced (or disgraced) the screen. It's like one of those bad comedy routines where the comedian just won't get off the stage, but worse, because you can't throw eggs at your television. It's not just the script. It's not just the timing. It's not just the acting. It is an entirety that is worse than the sum of its parts, and, while I realize that I have presented little analysis in my criticism, I simply had to write a review. I could not stand by and let humanity suffer any more than necessary at the hands of one of the most worthless pieces of cinema ever known. I will grant it this, however. I am a reformed person after seeing it, because I am now convinced that I have glimpsed my own personal Hell, and it would be watching this movie over and over.

Summary: HILARIOUS
Review: For anyone who is not afraid of looking sex right in the face, this comedy is roll-around-on-the-floor, 'I hope I don't pee my pants,' hilarious. It puts comedy into utterly embarrassing & inconvenient moments of life & dating...and does a great job. This is definetely a good movie for girl's night in...just be careful not to chock on the popcorn while laughing!

Summary: One of the worst!
Review: It really isn't even worth my time to rate this HORRIBLE movie. I almost shut it off several times. I usually love the crude humor in movies like "There's Something About Mary", and "American Pie", but this movie is just plain .... DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

Summary: It Doesn't Deserve One Star!!!
Review: First of all let me state, that I do enjoy low brow humor in various movies. I loved the original Scary Movie. But this movie rarely made me laugh. My wife rented it and as the movie dragged on for what seemed like days, she looked at me sheepishly and admitted, "This movie really sucks!"

The acting was forced and terrible. I can say with some confidence that this did not further the career of anyone associated with this film. Whoever wrote the script, hopefully used a fake name. The laughs came so rarely, I forgot it was a comedy. And as a movie that tried to have a heart warming ending, it committed the greatest sin. "Sweetest" did not make me care about any character in the film.

Save your money, don't rent, don't buy, don't even waste your time. Turn off the television and stare at the blank screen; it would be more entertaining than this movie.

Summary: The pits.
Review: This movie is awful. I don't say this because I object to the raunchy humor -- I don't. But this is a perfect example of today's Hollywood, in which they cast actors who have little or no innate sense of comic timing. Sure, these women say their lines and do (supposedly) funny things, but they are not comediennes -- and it shows...painfully! That problem, combined with the slapdash, thrown-together storyline, makes for one terrible film.

Selma Blair, the most talented of the three leads, unfortunately will never live down the film's oral sex scene. It's too bad, because she's a pretty good character actress. But from now on, this humiliating scene will be an indelible stain on her resume.

This film insults the audience's intelligence. We all can do better.

Summary: Painful to the end
Review: My fiancée & I watched this last night and both sat horrified at the stupidity of this Diaz vehicle. It tried to catch the essence of Something about Mary and never even came close.
Left me with dismay over what women are really like and her embarrassed over the portrayal of females in relationships.
Just dumb. It was that bad.
Acting was poor, wasted some talented actors and ideas too. Plot was thin at best and never made you really care for any of the characters.
The "dream sequences" and musical parts were horrible. Just when you thought it would end- more. Just bad. I had to leave the room.
My fiancée apologized to me after it was over. It was just that bad.

Summary: The Crudest Thing
Review: How did they every come up with a title like "The Sweetest Thing"? Another reveiw said PRUDES BEWARE! I am not a prude but I do not appreicate sick and perverted humor. I thought 40 Days and 40 Nights was bad. That was mild compared to this piece of [material] they had the nerve to call a movie. If this is all that Hollywood can churn out we, the viewing public are in big trouble! Churn is correct. That is what my stomach was doing through most of this so called movie. My husband and I sat at home and watched it this weekend. We kept looking at each other wondering when the comedy and romance was going to emerge in this swill. I ended up fast forwarding through the parts I could not bear to watch any more. At least I was not trapped in a movie theater where I could not fast forward and escape the huge chunks of this mess of a movie. Viewers beware! PU!

Summary: For the girls
Review: What? Why such bad reviews? This movie is funny and well-made. Diaz, Applegate and Blair were (in one word) fantastic. The sexual humor CAN NOT CONTAIN your laughter. One of the best parts would have to be the men's bathroom scene. It was hilarious! That isn't the only one though. There are ALOT more.

Underneath all the comedy, the love is true. Christina Walters (Cameron Diaz) is the 'love 'em and leave 'em' type of girl. But one night when she finds who she thinks is Mr. Right (Thomas Jane), Christina decides to chase after him with her best friend Courtney (Christina Applegate). Also starring: Selma Blair, Jason Bateman and Parker Posey.

To really understand the love, relationship and emotion, you have to look beyond what you're already given. I know that alot of girls will understand it, but guys may have a hard time. So far, "The Sweetest Thing" is the sweetest movie of the year. (Also, I never did care for Usher's "U Got it Bad" song until I saw this movie.)

Summary: Charming and Very Funny
Review: When I saw "The Sweetest Thing" in theaters this past spring, I was quite surprised by how frequently and loudly I laughed. I went into the screening expecting some sort of limp, sentimental romantic comedy, but instead I got something much better: a raunchy, girl-power! gem of a romantic comedy that actually has very little to do with romance. Yes, the journey of Christina (Cameron Diaz, never sweeter) to find her new dream man (a pleasant Thomas Jane) gives the movie a bare thread of plot to follow -- but it's all just an outline and set-up for the many funny gags that are to come. I'm not going to spoil any of them, but without giving too much away, I'll say that the moments I really roared with laughter involve the the dress in need of dry cleaning, the public men's restroom, the man on the motorcycle and a cast sing-along that will forever change the way you think about the song chosen for the scene. Considering I haven't even mentioned Selma Blair's character and her boyfriend's strange choice for an occupation, there's a guarantee for plenty more hilarity, some of it subtle and barely noticable, but 98% of it dirty and straight forward. To be certain, the best thing this movie has going for it is the cast. Each one of the performers knows not to take any of this too seriously, and they all manage to be charming and amusing in their assigned roles. And, surprise! -- the most valuable actor on screen isn't the always reliable Diaz, but instead Christina Applegate as Diaz's confident, intelligent and witty friend Courtney. In her performance, Applegate exudes all the qualities anyone might want in a best friend -- man or woman -- and her chemistry with Diaz is so perfect that we have no trouble wanting to follow the misadventures of these sexy single gals. "The Sweetest Thing" is a highly likable comedy, fresh and light-hearted, but ultimately weighed down just a little by poor direction. If it weren't for everything else on screen, this might be dismissable as another sex-obsessed, awful comedy that has no respect for its characters and wants to destroy every remaining shred of their pride. Thankfully, with a mostly sharp script (writer Nancy M. Pimental kinda fumbles the romance, but nails the big jokes) and bright ensemble, this actually turns out to be A LOT funnier[.](...)The DVD special features aren't too great, and if you want to get the unrated version, it's best to purchase it on Amazon.com; it's very difficult to find anywhere else.

Summary: Not much sweet about this one
Review: It appears to me like they were trying to take advantage of the Sex in the City type of situational hype, but this one is a disaster from the start. The comic gags (falling during the wedding ceremony, getting blasted in the bathroom, etc.) just aren't very funny and I'll laugh at almost anything. When this was in the theatres I think 10 people saw it and if Cameron Diaz wasn't in it the number would have dropped to 3. No problem with the actresses, just give them something better to work with. If I want to watch Sex in the City I'll turn on the tv. Also, the unrated warnings all over this are odd since I didn't see anything in this one that would be unrated material. It looks like Cameron Diaz is using the same movie selection advisor as Gwenyth Paltrow. It's hard to believe that this looked good as a screenplay. Why would she choose to make a movie this bad?
