Summary: Huh?
Review: I would like to see a psychological analysis as to why PRETTY WOMAN had such an impact. Did it tap into some masked desires, women to be prostitutes, men to get away with dating them? Yikes. Julia Roberts plays it as if being a hooker was a career choice she discussed with her high school guidance counselor ("Well, I also like accounting, but that requires college and I wanted to make money right away!"). PRETTY WOMAN? Prostitutes end up pretty infected, pretty beaten, and pretty murdered, not married to Richard Gere.

Summary: A glorification of prostitution
Review: What could be more fun, romantic and glamorous than prostitution? Radiant Julia Roberts and handsome Richard Gere show us a world where streetwalkers are sweet, healthy, funny, charming, sassy and destined to live happily ever after. Yes, with Hollywood we expect to suspend disbelief, but this film shows no hint of the reality of sadness, brutality, desperation and boredom that define the lives of real prostitutes. Why do we need to make the world's oldest profession appear to be the world's most rewarding? Pretty Woman brings us a prostitute who never encounters pimps, drugs, disease or prison --- just fun, fun, fun ---- as her "career choice" earns her jewelry, designer clothes and eternal love. What a wonderful lesson for the kids. Disgusting.

Summary: This video is one of the most romantic i have seen ... ever.
Review: Julia Roberts does and excellent job, as does Richard Gere. She starts out with a bad life and accidentally stumbles into him, when he needs directions. This video will make every girl hope that her life turns out this way. This is an excellent date-movie and I believe you'll fall in love with it as I did.

Summary: Great sense of humour,a perfect romantic-comedy
Review: Experience the hapiness, laugh, and cry with the role that send Julia Roberts to be the OSCAR nominee in 1990 in the vivid character of a street-hooker who have golden heart. Fate led her to meet a successful handsome business man(Richard Gere).Together, they began the challenge relation and more than that they fulfilled each other life...it's a touching story with the great sense of humour. The movie that people who love the romantic-comedy style shouldn't miss..the movie that will be impressed in your heart.

Summary: Pretty Woman: the best movie in the entire pretty world!
Review: Everyone knows this story, whether they've experienced certain parts of it, or just love it pure & simply because it's terrific. And if you haven't seen it, why not?! Go out and get it now. Go on!

This is the one Julia Roberts film that can never be out-done. No amount of Erin Brockovich's can beat this movie. This catapulted Julia into the big-time, mainstream movies, and she's now one of the highest paid actresses. I dunno whether something like Pretty Woman was never done before this, or whether I'm just sick of Julia Roberts now, but she won't come across a script as good as this again. Not even the supposed "sequel", with Richard Gere & Julia reteaming (they could go all the way and do a Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks) with Garry Marshall and Hector Elizondo for Runaway Bride. Nowhere near as good. But that's a different movie.

The actors are great, and I think it's the only Richard Gere movie I've ever seen - apart from Runaway Bride. The night elevator operator's face (Patrick Richwood) is an absolute picture most of the time, and he makes you laugh just by looking at him.

Of course, everyone knows that Julia's character, Vivian, turns from a poor hooker, into a rich lady. I much prefer Vivian as the hooker. When you first meets Edward (Richard Gere), she's fine, she's cute, and he gives her all this money, and she turns into a frumpy, awkward lady. The clothes are ill-fitting and really don't suit her.

In a few years, when Julia Roberts is old and grey (Richard Gere already was old & grey in this!), this will be considered a classic.

Watch out for a very much blink and you'll miss him role of the detective, played by Hank Azaria. I've seen this movie a hundred times, and it's the first time I noticed him!

The songs are terrific in this, from Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" to Natalie Cole's "Wild Women Do" (the video is not impressive though). The best song is of course, Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love", played as Vivian leaves Edward. It's a very poignant scene, and I always play this song if I'm feeling down about something. The lyrics match any relationship problem perfectly, and matches the scene in Pretty Woman

Summary: Pure Fantasy, but delightful nonetheless!
Review: Sometimes one needs a movie that's pure fairy tale fantasy, a Cinderella story set in Hollywood Boulevard. If one bothers to think about the story of "Pretty Woman" for just a second, one would cease to believe. First of all, Julia Roberts is the most unconvincing hooker ever -- beautiful, bubbly, sensitive, and her attempts at bad grammar are cringeworthy. She's not a hooker, she's a bona-fide Hollywood star in fishnets. But I've seen this movie like 5 times, and you know what? I don't care. The scene where Julia Roberts and Richard Gere kiss on the lips for the first time still makes me swoon, and the ending still makes me cry. Maybe it's the appealing chemistry of the two stars. They definitely have "it." Or maybe it's Gary Marshall's direction, which adds so much starry-eyed romance to the story that you believe too. Whatever it is, I just watched the movie again this afternoon and I still cried.
