Summary: ASTOUNDING
Review: It really is quite astounding how bad this movie really is. First things last, I was blown away to find out that Martin Brest wrote & directed this mess. Midnight Run happens to be one of my favorite films of all-time. Gigli actually tries to be Midnight Run on more than one occasion, along with Rain Man, Chasing Amy and any number of Elmore Leonard filcks. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are atrocious. Affleck's Brooklyn by-way-of Boston accent is comical. His scene where he's flexing his muscles for a closet mirror is grounds for black-listing. And I'm not even going to elaborate on his come-ons to Lopez. She's not quite as bad, but her speeches on the female anatomy and "people skills" couldn't have been written by a human. Then there's Al Pacino and Christopher Walken. Hoo-ahhh! Pacino's just plain awful - a completely stupid, over-the-top performance than he's been giving us more often than not lately (and yes, that includes Brest's Scent of a Woman, a completely overrarted film). As far as Walken, he basically regurgitates his True Romance-Bluloo Boyle speech, then suddenly starts talking in some strange alien language where I honestly needed sub-titles. And then he was gone. There is so much wrong with Gigli, you could write a college thesis on the subject. I haven't even touched upon the mentally disabled character. The music. Gigli's boss. I haven't even scratched the surface. But let this be said. As far as bad movies go, this is right up there with the best (worst) of them...- cRAIG

Summary: Wow....the critics weren't wrong....
Review: I do not usually agree with critics regarding movies. In fact I usually like the ones that they don't like. Then I saw Gigli. I will admit that the whole reason I rented the movie is because I couldn't believe that it really was all that bad. I just figured that people were criticing the couple more than the movie. Boy, was I wrong. I think Jennifer Lopez is awesome. Love her music and most of her movies. I like Ben Affleck well enough and enjoy some of his movies. This movie was a different story. They did not have chemistry and the most interesting part was the charachter Brian. The thing that really sticks with me is the fact that J-lo is playing a lesbian, yet she gives in to Ben Affleck and sleeps with him. WHY???? I was just really bothered by that and it just seemed totally unbelievable to me. People just don't change their sexuality overnight. Overall this movie was horrible. I was disappointed in both of the main actors and hope that the next movie they are in is better (Jersey Girl)

Summary: DON'T LISTEN TO THE CRITICS!!!
Review: First off, I just want to say that movie critics wouldn't know a good movie if it came up and bit them on the....well, you know what! Okay, so it's NOT TITANIC. Still, that doesn't give these people (and I use that term loosely!) the right to trash it just because they don't like two of the cast members. Did they trash Al Pachino? Or Christopher Walken? NO!!! Why not? Because they weren't jealous of them! You take the two BIGGEST STARS of the new Millenium and put them in a film together, and what do you have? A target for every critic in the industry! People, DO NOT listen to these frauds! This is a really good movie. It has heart. It has charm. It also has wonderful humor! This movie could have done so much better at the box office had it not been for those leeches waiting to suck the life out of it! Please, rent this movie, watch it, and then judge it for YOURSELF! Don't let other people you've never met tell you how you should feel about this film. My wife and I LOVED IT! I think you will too, if you give a chance! Hope this helps you in your decision. I know that you've heard mixed reviews about this film. The only way to really satisfy your curiosity though is to see it. I HOPE you give it a look!!! I'm glad I did.

Summary: How Bad Is BAD?
Review: After all the press surrounding Gigli and the resulting coupling of stars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, as a consequence, the movie seemed doomed right from the start. Can you say over exposed? I have to admit though, curiosity got the better of me, and despite all the scathing reviews, I still had to see for the film for myself. After sitting through Gigli as a rental, I was amazed to discover that all of that negative discourse, wasn't at all exaggerated or unfounded. Larry Gigli (Affleck) is a small time hood and hit man, from Los Angeles, eternally looking for the big score. He is known in certain circles as a somewhat of a doofuss. His latest scheme is the kidnapping of the mentally disabled brother (Justin Bartha) of a powerful district attorney. Successfully getting the brother to his seedy apartment, Gigli teams up with gal Ricki (Lopez), whom he presumes to be in the business as well...And thus begins a love/hate association between the odd couple. Given the track record of director Martin Breast, I was stunned by just how bad the film is. The script, written by Breast, has problems all by itself. The story takes us along a very predictable path. And the ending of the film is a total cheat and is a groan inducer. Speaking of groans...For all the sparks that "Bennifer" may have generated off screen, thanks to media hype, the pair is pretty flat here. Affleck uses one of the lamest Italian accents ever recorded on film. For her part, I am begining to think that Lopez's may have peaked as an actress, with her role in Out Of Sight, as Karen Sisco. This romantic comedy is funny all right, but for all the wrong reasons. Given the film's coveted status, I am not surprised at the lack of any special features on the DVD. Aside from the theatrical trailer, there's nothing else to see, as far as extras go. I wonder what would have happened if the movie had been successfull? Can we ever hope to see a Gigli Special Edition DVD? I write that sarcasticly of course. Those that choose to watch the movie anyway, can see it in either the full-screen or widescreen format. It doesn't matter. The movie is bad no matter how you look at it. I guess sometimes even the critics can be right after all. If you want to see Lopez at her best--Out Of Sight. As for Affleck, make sure you see Chasing Amy, from the star's pal Kevin Smith

Summary: Rain Man meets Pulp Fiction
Review: I have not seen more offensive, needlessly crude movie in a long time. This movie is proof that the rating systems should be totally revamped so that there is a real warning associated with a rating. The title of this review, Rain Man meets Pulp Fiction, is a charitable characterization, but this movie does have a little in common with the others in terms of the persons involved, their implausible behavior, and the fact that the viewer cannot find any character he likes in the whole movie. Truly, this is a movie about people you would not want to let into your home. Don't buy it.
