Rating: Summary: Kate Capeshaw Review: Kate is a total babe! The story line is an old one. But this one is worth a close watch!
Rating: Summary: romantic comedy/ date movie Review: Nice, easy watch. In the tradition of the old black and white K.Hepburn/C.Grant romance comedy. It's no "Philadelphia Story" but has a small town charm to it. The book is a good vacation read too.
Rating: Summary: FORGET ! Review: Of the various movies with the title "LOVE LETTER", this is the worst, believe me! Capshaw's acting ( or it was her character, maybe she was just doing what was in the screenplay, I don't know) is so bad that you simply don't care at all if she is going to be happy or not at the end of the movie!! You simply don't care also about whre did the love letter came from. The "shocking" reevlation that it was written by the lesbian mother of one of the characters don't make any impact at all, because when we reach that point the movie is lost. I'm not sure, but it seems to me a classic case of bad diretion more than bad plot. How DREAMWORKS gave the "go ahead" for this project is beyond my compreension.
Rating: Summary: Enchanting Review: The Love Letter finds Helen wondering who is the sender of a romantic love letter she accidently found in her daily mail . As the precious piece of paper starts changing hands with one way or another , misunderstandings start to take place and Helen's life gets more complicated day by day . The movie itself , while it never claims to be extremelly deep or profound , is open-hearted and cosy watching . It's all about lovers giving funny looks to each other through a dirty window , the magic of a boy who just told you beautifull lines of poetry and now is walking away with fireworks lighting the sky and the picturesque case of postcards of a woman with so much to remember . Capshaw's role as an older , sensual woman fits perfectly with her physique yet the ones who stand out are DeGenneris and especially Tom Scott Everett whose boyish charms shine . The lesbian twist after the halfway mark feels somehow unecessary . Even so , The Love Letter is a nostalgic sleeper which waits for you to discover .

Rating: Summary: ....comedy of errors.... Review: The Love Letter is an unexpected gem of a film. Centering around the arrival of an unaddressed love letter, it's a veritable comedy of errors as everyone starts believing the letter is meant for them. The confusion that results is rather charming; and Kate Capshaw, Tom Selleck and Ellen Degeneres turn in very strong performances in a film that is, unfortunately, rather lackluster on the whole. Despite the film's flaws, it's a hidden charmer that just begs for a comfortable couch and a bowl of popcorn.
Rating: Summary: Pure Relaxing Enjoyment Review: The Love Letter is one of the top feel-good movies I have ever enjoyed. It is simple yet complex. The setting in New England helps create the overall charm of the story, which is funny, enchanting, and unexpected. The characters are wonderful small town, yet not shallow, and will have you smiling all the way through.
Rating: Summary: It could've been better Review: The movie isn't exactly bad, the problem is that it could've been a lot better. The main problem is the way characters are managed through the movie, what give us a movie which centers mainly in only one character (Kate Capshaw's), and leaves the rest of the cast unatended and undeveloped, which is a shame, most of all to Ellen DeGeneres and Julianne Nicholson's characters, because these two give the best acting in the movie. The other problem is that a movie with really one character is not necesarilly bad, had it not been that Kate Capshaw acting is so flat and boring, that one ends up not caring for the character. In a brief: Bad script, lousy direction, dreadful lead actress, good supporting cast; but poorly managed with very little on-screen time.
Rating: Summary: Not one to see twice Review: The storyline, that of a love letter discovered by first one, and then another character in a sleepy seashore town, each one thinking it had been written for them, is delightful, and suggests endless possibilities, but I found myself rolling my eyes more than once at the overkill of some of the characters expressions. At other times I couldn't help laughing helplessly over the soulful looks 20-year-old Johnny (Tom Everett Scott) gave 40-something bookstore owner Helen (Kate Capshaw) as he imagined that she had meant the love letter for him. My biggest disappoint ...[is that] there is no warning in any of the reviews or otherwise, that this film has overt lesbian tones before its completion. I would not have chosen this video if I had known this.
Rating: Summary: lame... Review: this film was okay...i really dislike Kate capshaw and didn't care to see this movie, it probably could have been better if someone rewrote the script, and chose a better actress than capshaw. This is a novel by Cathleen Schine. the book is probably much better! ellen degeneres was the best part of the whole film! she is a very funny commedianne and a charming actress. if you like her, you might like this film somewhat.. it's also filmed in Rockport, MA which is a beautiful spot..
