Summary: Not For Prudes
Review: I bought the VHS in 1994, just got the DVD for Christmas in 2004. Threesome is nearly eleven years old but you won't be able to see that by watching it. It's just as much fun now as it was then. It's a movie like a fine wine...it won't age no matter how old it gets. But be warned. This film is not for prudes who can't see beyond the " sex talk ". Alex, Stu and Eddy do get down and dirty at times but sex is not the only element this film has to offer. Once you expand your mind and strip Threesome of all the sexual situations and complications you have a beautiful love story between three strangers who turn out to be best friends.

Summary: Ugh!
Review: I hate to refer to the opinions of other critics, but my curiosity about this, uh, movie was piqued by the fact that Leonard Maltin thought it was good, and (seemingly) everyone else thought it was awful. Now that I've seen it, I have only one thing to add: like everyone else, Leonard Maltin makes mistakes. What's it about? Two college roommates are struggling to get along (and they are, of course, a Felix and Oscar match--are there any roommate relationships in movies that aren't?) They've just about got it when, in a sequence of events about as plausible as a Hulk Hogan presidency, a pretentious young woman (Lara Flynn Boyle from Twin Peaks) moves into their suite. If you can't deduce what happens after that from that synopsis and the title, shame on you; if you can, you are perfectly excused for fast-forwarding in search of the titillating scenes, since they are the predictable reasons-for-being of the whole damn enterprise. Stephen Baldwin's acting proves conclusively that acting talent is a result of nurture and not nature. Lara Boyle is only marginally better, pouting and crying insufferably instead of acting. That leaves Josh Charles, whose descent is perhaps the most tragic of all, since he was so wonderful as the young-man-in-love in Dead Poets' Society. He's not terrible, but he (and the occasional clever scene that deserves to be in a better movie) aren't anywhere near enough to salvage this mess. Neither is the humor, which consists mostly of things that writer/director Andrew Fleming thinks are funny that really aren't (he seems to be utterly fascinated with toilets to the point that it is apparently some kind of fetish). Ugh!

Summary: one of my top 5
Review: i love this movie. i always have since i rented it when i was about 15 (24 now). granted i probly shouldnt have been seeing this movie at 15 but when i watched it as i got older i connected with things alot more. it deals with breaking through your boundaries and basically it shows a trio of friends and what they go through, one main thing being a love triangle. This movies being set in college is too funny because that is in fact where people explore as eddie refers to it in the first 20 seconds of the movie "deviancy". "the word deviancy is from the latin roots. de meaning from and via the road, one who wanders from the road or gets lost. now days it refers to someone whos sexual practices are abnormal. This is the story of stuart alex and me and how for a while we became deviants, in both senses of the word"...
there is so much more to the movie but its not one of those gripping your heart type movies. this movie is mean to be fun. its a comedy, a romantic comedy on the verge of insanity. its also got some of the best lines ive seen in a movie.

Alex: If you're so hot on the idea, why don't you have sex with him?
Stuart: Taste of semen makes me gag.
Alex: How would you know? Whose semen were you eating?
Stuart: My own.(that was one of the many times stuart opens his mouth followed by people just staring at him with nothing to say)

Eddie: If Alex and Stuart were genetically merged into one person, he or she would've been the love of my life.(who hasnt felt like that before)

it also has a great soundtrack.

Everything is fairly much on an equalibrium until Eddie goes to pee one day and finds in the shower next to him a believed anti social suite mate, Alex who is very much a girl. Due to a computer glitch she is registered as male and cant afford her way out of it.

Time goes on as the boys (Eddie and his roommate Stuart) and Alex avoid eachother and Eddie and Stuart keep things that way by being the worst roommates they can find ways to be but soon they al find themselves connecting. well, Eddie and Alex anyway. Alex cant stand Stuart and sees him as a no neck ideot. then as alex describes it
Alex: You have the hots for me, I have the hots for him, and sooner or later he's gonna have the hots for you.
They find themselves in a triangle of hard crushes where "no ones getting out easy".
and as the title shows there is a big threeway which you can guess is going to happen after a short way into the film.

its incredibly funny. you should see it. its a movie that your gonna love wether your gay strait or bi. i dont care what you are just see it..

Summary: This would be one of the 10 I'd take to a deserted island
Review: I love this movie. It almost frustrates me to read some of the negative reviews on this site, because most of the reviewers who doled out these bad reviews don't seem to even "get" the point of the movie at all. It's not about sex, it's not about love, it's about friendship... Apparently some of these people have never had friendships as close as the ones reflected in this movie, so they can't relate. But enough about them.

This movie is definitely for the open minded. I love the narration describing Eddie's feelings and thoughts throughout. I think this movie is intelligently written and each role was well acted. I couldn't have picked more perfect actors for the roles they played myself. Most of these actors aren't really known for their extraordinary acting talent necessarily, but they were perfect for this movie and for their individual roles.

Not a movie to watch with a date that you're just getting to know, due to the sexual content and constant innuendo. But it is absolutely hilarious, while still tapping into your emotions and possibly some memories of friends gone by. I'd even venture to say that if cheeseball comedy like Something About Mary and Dumb and Dumber turns you off and you're looking for something much more intelligent, but still hilarious, this is your movie. I don't recall burping and farting being the hightlight of this movie (thank God). Watch it, buy it, own it. Seriously...

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I LOVED this movie! It was very funny with a very intriguing story. These three people would be absolutely obnoxious in real life but in a movie they are hilarious. There were some things I didn't like though. The gay guy gets dragged through the mud through the whole movie. He's so desperate to have sex that he does it with a girl. He gets rejected by the guy he is in love with. He actually does get to have sex with that guy but the girl is in between them. It would have been nice if he could have had a more intimate moment with the person he loved. Also, the ending was very depressing for me. They all go off in different directions in life and they're all sad. Even the alternate ending, which the DVD provides, is depressing. This movie is GREAT but if I were to watch it again I would stop it when it got near the end and then make up my own ending in my mind. That way I would walk away feeling satisfied.

Summary: I thought it was pretty darn good!
Review: I really liked this movie it touched basis on alot of frustrating things college students go through,It definately shows how it doesn't hurt to try it before you knock it. The sex scenes are really great but the whole story line of the movie I think is way better.

Summary: Laura Flynn Boyle is tha'bomb
Review: I was really impressed by how profoundly moving and deep this film was. Some people may view it as a comedy but it is really an exploration of how one goes about determining their sexuality. I , myself have had to struggle with sexuality issues-n-stuff and that's why I think this film could help a lot of people feel that they aren't alone n-stuff. Also- I think Laura Flynn Boyle should have been nominated for a best actress award for her amazing library scene performance and for her character's awesome fashion sense and make-up application.

Summary: Bland, Hardly Titillating, Unconvincing 3-Way Romance
Review: Little here worth watching except the backsides of the actors. And that's a shame, because the director seemed to be going for more, something like a realistic treatment of an attempted meaningful romantic relationship among a straight boy, a straight girl, and a gay boy. Doesn't sound like it would be easy to pull off, right? This flick won't convince you otherwise, with its less-than-convincing characterizations and strained efforts at humor. The characters are uniformly likeable to the extent that they are developed, but their development and growth occur only in the context of this unlikely triangular romance -- it's all they think about and talk about, as if they had no other concerns in the world. It's easy as viewers to recall the urgency and centrality of young loves/lusts, but there's just no sense of that here; the depth of character isn't deep enough to make it happen. And, lacking any other guiding purpose, the movie crawls to the inevitable unsatisfying ending. We could all probably say there were things we did in college that were experimental and helped us understand ourselves -- but that weren't worthy of big screen treatment. This was one of them. The flick gets only one star for entertainment, the other for hunky-boy Baldwin's dive into the lake.
