Summary: classic chick flick
Review: Let's get one thing straight: aside from her acting, which is generally decent, I do not like Jennifer Lopez. You'd think this would ruin every movie she's in for me, but actually I have ended up seeing them all at one time or another. Despite her rather obnoxious real-life persona, J Lo is strangely compelling on screen. In this particular movie, she is perfectly cast and does a great job as Marissa, the struggling single mom and hotel maid with ambitions toward a career as manager.If you are unaware of the plot, all I have to say is that this is the Cinderella story as it would have been written in the 21st Century. Happily, the "evil stepsisters" idea is replaced with a genuine bond of sisterhood between Marissa and the other maids. Marissa does have a mom that's keeping her down with negative thinking and her own personal demons, but even this character is not a one-dimensional villain. As for the handsome prince, well, he's a Senator with an overbearing staff that he'd rather escape from most of the time
So anyway, now that you know that I have not rated this movie four stars because I'm a rabid J.Lo fan, let's take a look at why I do like it: As mentioned, decent acting all around
A few unconventional characters, like Marissa's friend/partner who has more spunk than is usually allowed for an older woman, much less a maid
Classic chick flick plot (I qualify as a chick, so that makes sense) that is emotional without being sappy
Honest look at a benind-the-scenes world of the hotel business that I thought was fascinating in itself Maid in Manhattan is enjoyable despite having a somewhat predictable plot. Expect your man to be resigned when you bring it home, but he'll come around...even if it's only because he likes Jennifer Lopez.

Summary: Niether romantic, nor comedic
Review: Here's an interesting question - what do you have when you take a romantic comedy and forget to add any romance or comedy to it? You get Maid in Manhatten, that's what. I like J Lo, I actually think she has some redeeming qualities in the field of acting, unlike so many other pop stars turned actresses. This movie however, is barely tolerable to sit through. The only good thing about it is J Lo's natural charm and way. The plot to this movie is niether very interesting nor very creative and it falls way short of other romantic comedies.
J Lo plays a poor maid who, through a series of accidents and circumstances, ends up falling for a rich politician staying at the hotel she works at. That is basically the entire plot, not much more meat there folks. And it doesnt get any better, the whole movie is dry, bland and lacks any character. Being male, you may think I am biased to the genre - but not so. I actually like a good romantic comedy, but this one will niether make you laugh, nor make you cry. There weren't any real funny parts in this movie, how can a romantic comedy forget to have any comedy???! And more-so the little romance there is, isn't very romantic. Nothing like when "harry met sally", or even "you've got mail". No - "Maid in Manhatten" simply lacks any of the things you watch this type of movie for. Hopefully J Lo's next movie will be better written and give her a better chance to show case her personality.

Summary: Fluffy but fun
Review: Anyone who doesn't know what's going to happen in this Cinderella story within the first 10 minutes of the opening isn't paying attention. Nevertheless, Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes are fun to watch in this romantic comedy. She is a single mom who works as a maid in a large New York hotel. He is a wealthy man-about-town is so soon going to run for the Senate. She tries on a beautiful outfit which she has been asked to return by its snooty owner and just then he walks in and sees her, assuming that she is the one who is staying in the hotel suite. His advisor fusses and fumes as he courts her, as does the woman actually staying in the suite who has set her cap for Fiennnes. The boy playing Lopez's son is very appealing and he and Fiennes hit it off immediately. If you're looking for light entertainment, this just might fit the bill.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: I disagree with the bad reviews that this movie has gotten. Although this is a predictable "Cinderella" story, it's still a really good movie. I really enjoyed it. Tyler Garcia Posey was one of my favorites as Marisa's son Ty. He was so cute and funny. Jennifer Lopez as Marisa was very believable because the two of them are so much alike. I would recommend seeing this movie. It's not very deep, but it's still a great movie to watch. It's very sweet.

Review: Very cute. Jennifer Lopez is beautiful and charming just like she was in the Wedding Planner. The latter was a much better film, but Maid was entertaining too. A good twist on the Cinderella story, with everything but the shoe on the stairs. The character of Lopez' son makes the movie! He is very entertaining. Overall a cute chick flick or even a date film, nothing exceptional though.

Summary: Yawn...Typical Cinderella Story With a Bad Lead Actress
Review: Maid in Manhatten was a very predictable, boring movie. Jennifer Lopez, playing the role of a struggling single mom and a hotel maid, was a bad actress in a bad role. Ralph Fiennes was not too bad, but was totally clueless the whole time in the movie, making him look partly stupid. I regret buying the DVD, because Lopez was so bad. That is her last film I will be watching.
