Summary: Very Funny!
Review: A boring romantic comedy starring Tom Selleck and model-turned-actress Paulina Prizkova, who show very little (if any) "chemistry" between them. He's a celebrated mystery novelist (conveniently); she's a suspect in a murder case (nice set up, no?). What can be done her? If she writes about the case for him, he'll be her alibi. How clever!

The director Bruce Beresford is clearly more comfortable with drama, as his attempt at comedy results only in clumbsy slap stick and worn out cliches. A weak, lame-brained script only adds to this overall forgettable product. Do yourself a favor and skip this one!**

Summary: Awesome drama!
Review: After CBS television pulled the plug on Tom Selleck's detective drama,"Magnum P.I.",Tom Selleck concentrated on his film career which would last several more years. This film is Selleck's post-Magnum first. It is based on the book by Philip Blackwood, played by Selleck. Philip has written several novels in the past. Blackwood's novel of the same title inspired what was seen in this film. A bearded Philip is present at the arraignment of a young Romanian girl named Nina(Paulina Porizkova). Nina was accused of murder and was convicted. After Philip shaves his beard down to a moustache,he visits Nina in prison, dressed as a minister and bails her out. This is where their romance began. One memorable scene was where Philip is shot in the derriere by a hunting arrow, fired by Nina who was hunting some kind of animal. In the last scene,at a circus,Philip,Nina and a few other people are there as clowns. The few other people are criminals out to get Nina and are arrested. The closing theme entitled "Falling In Love",was written and performed by Randy Newman.

Summary: Her Alibi
Review: Being a fan of reading, reading mysteries, and a 'johnny-come-lately' fan of Tom Selleck's -- post-Magnum PI, which I NEVER watched, I really enjoyed this movie. Unlike most critics, I want to be entertained and this movie does it for me. The scenes 'AFTER THE GREAT CASSEROLE DINNER' are among some of the most priceless I've ever seen and the movie is worth viewing, if only for that alone! And, seeing Patrick Wayne with a ponytail as his neighbor, just adds to the fun of it! Of course, I only wish that I could be and look like Paulina Porizkova. Run, don't walk, to get your copy of this amusing movie where the 'bad guys' get battered!

Summary: A very entertaining movie !
Review: Buy it. The DVD only costs $10 here in Amazon. This is a very entertaining movie. Tom Selleck is great and Paulina Porizkova is so good in this movie that makes me wonder why she doesn't make more movies. The picture quality of the DVD is very good. Bright and colorful. Too bad Warner chose to release this DVD as their $15 Budget series so there is no extra features at all. But seing Paulina Porizkove is good enough to justify the purchase of this fine DVD which no one that has DVD player should be without.

Summary: This is a very funny movie.
Review: I have been a Tom Selleck fan for many, many years, and this is probably my favorite Tom Selleck film. As many may have noted from his recent appearances on "Friends" Selleck has a great feel for comedy and its timing.

In this movie Selleck plays struggling mystery novelist Phillip Blackwood. It has been some time since Blackwood has produced a hit book and his publisher is about to drop him. Looking for inspiration Blackwood sits in the back of a courtroom observing cases. Along comes Nina, a Romanian woman accused of a grizzly murder. Convinced of her innocence, Blackwood provides an alibi to the beautiful foreigner to get her released from jail. Suddenly he realizes that he may have just released a killer from prison and the only thing standing between her and complete freedom is him.

Selleck is hilarious as the struggling writer who begins to write a book based on the experiences he has with the stranger now living with him. What makes this movie truly funny is watching the usually macho Selleck living in fear of a woman barely half his size. The voice over dialogue he uses while writing the book is priceless.

It is truly enjoyable to watch Selleck make fun of the persona he spent so many years playing in "Magnum P.I." This is a great film, and one I had to have in my collection.

Summary: Strangely Compelling
Review: I have to agree with most of the other reviews. This movie not great art but to me it is great comedy and strangely compelling. I have found myself watching it over and over again. I would rate the film as five-stars. Unfortunately, I can not buy the DVD because the cheapskates at Warner have only released this in butchered full-screen format. As such, I can only rate this DVD as two-stars and certainly no stars for Warner.

Summary: Sexy laughs with Selleck
Review: People who claim this film isn't serious aren't getting the point. This is a gentle mystery-comedy with the sexy Paulina Porizkova and the fun-loving Tom Selleck.

Selleck plays the Agatha Christie-style mystery writing who is suffering from writers block. He discovers a Russian beauty who is accused of murder and is inspired. Pretending to be her alibi, he starts writing his new greatest novel loosely based on his experiences. There is a slight problem though. He is falling in love with her and doesn't know whether she is or is not a murderess.

Summary: Pretty Paulina
Review: The movie itself is ok, but watching Paulina Porizkova on the big screen is enough to entertain anyone.

Summary: Terrific movie!
Review: This has to be my favourite movie with Tom Selleck where he plays Phillip, a burnt out writer, who doesn't have much to write about anymore until he meets a young Romanian woman, Nina, who has been arrested for murder. Phillip decides to be her alibi and lets her live with him, but he soon starts to doubt her innocence. It's a good laugh.
