Summary: Just Fun
Review: At last a gay movie which delights in it's silliness and still is very touching without hitting the big "topics" that make up most gay cinema.It's also nice to have a film where there is really no sex. Where the characters aren't all [sex]... and drug addicts. That shows a wide-range of types and ages not just tight-clothed 20 somethings. I live in West Hollywood so this played at the theatre for quite awhile and I actually saw it twice there. Much more fun with a group, but then again, now i can watch it as often as I want. The character's dialogue is sometimes stilted and sometimes very sitcom'like, but the style is set-up very early that this is not reality. And it is really genuinely funny. Unfortunately the drama near the end comes off a bit predictably and from "left field", but it doesn't ruin the whole overly much. The cast is incredible and it's nice to see almost all of them working steadily out there in other projects. In the whole range of cinema this is not worth 5 stars but I give it that here since I can think of few gay movies that take my mind away as much.

Review: This is such a nice movie. Initially I thought it was great because there wasn't too much sex; a stereotype of homosexuality that I don't appreciate much. Most of the movies, as everyone I'm sure has noticed, show gay people exceedingly interested in sex. It's just a nice movie to watch. Although, the actor playing Kevin, goodness his head is just too narrow when he's in a scene with any of the other actors, especially Dean Cain. But, I cannot imagine anyone not enjoying this movie

Summary: Shows how strong friendships can be!
Review: The Broken Hearts Club is a black comedy about a group of single gay men trying to find love and happines in the world. The chracters are warm and funny adn can easily be compared to yourself. As each of these characters broken up or single the other friends are there for him. When one of the characters begins to drugs and has a DO, they all come to the hospital to support him. This is not a movie with sex and nudity at all. Its a story of friend ship and being there for each other.

Summary: A bit Depressing quite Romantic
Review: This is a move about a group of gay guys who hang out and help each other accept the misery of being gay. I say misery because the whole movie shows how shallow the gay community is focused on how a guy looks rather than his heart. Andrew Keegan plays the "newbie" who learns the pains of being a new out homosexual when he is toyed around with by Dean Cain who is the heartless beauty of the group. I liked the move a lot I hope that is does not reflect real homosexuals because if so that is one depressing life style. More power to the Gay Community good luck and be good to one another you are all you've got.

Summary: A funny,touching movie
Review: I recently bought The Broken Hearts Club because I had heard nothing but good things about it.I decided I'd give the movie a try.I sat down and watched the movie and ended up loving it.Thought it has one of the most simplest plots,the movie is very funny and touching.The entire cast did an amazing job in this movie.The characters were written so well,which is what made this movie so good.Don't listen to those who didn't like this movie because it is an awesome movie.A must see for everyone.

Summary: Rather Swallow Broken Glass
Review: This movie was so terribly painful to watch. In fact I don't thik the acting could have gotten much worse. The only "studying" the actors did to prepare for their roles in the movie was to learn how to lisp and swish. How realistic. After reading the other reviews on here, I wondered if I was watching the same movie. The picture of the film cover assured me that it was one and the same disaster. Save your money folks!

Summary: Not Bad
Review: The reviews are correct -- this is quite clearly not a "romantic comedy," but might be more accurately labeled as a comedic drama. The movie might be described as a super-glossy, Hollywoodized version of Love! Valour! Compassion! The bonds of friendship are the central theme of the film, and the explorations of said friendships are effective, if surface-level. Berlanti's Dawson's Creek connections show themselved, both through the characters' verbose self awareness and through emotionally manipulative melancholic music montages, two of which are backed by Dawson's Creek soundtrack regular Mary Beth Maziarz. (A master of deliciously depressing cover songs.) The film draws upon the romantic comedy conventions of witty one liners and sappy, perfectly scripted dialogue to force us into caring about its characters, all of which have just enough depth to trick us into thinking they might actually be three dimensional. The characters' intertwining stories of love, loss and lust -- if derivative -- are engrossing, and ultimately moving. I'll disagree with other reviewers in my assertion that Timothy Olyphant's character (I've forgotten his name -- I'll take a page from the Broken Hearts Club book and call him "Lead Guy") nicely pulls the friends' stories together w/ a character arc of sorts. His romance with Keegan's Kevin is sweetly, nicely, built, and his ultimate departure for Europe (in conjunction w/ John Mahoney's death and Blonde Guy's overdose) provides a well-timed -- if slightly forced -- culmination of the film's stories. The Broken Hearts Club is a sweet, engaging, film. And though mildly shallow, this is easily forgiven -- it is intended to be formulaic -- a neatly wrapped cinematic package.

Summary: Funny Gay Flick -- Could Have Been Written About My Friends
Review: This was an excellent movie. It really showed how gay friends are with one another. This movie could have been made about my group of friends. Moreover, it was funny--especially, the banter amongst the friends. And of course, the hairsalon scene is hilarious. I read a review on amazon that this was like a gay version of Steel Magnolias. HUH? That movie (...). I see nothing to compare the two. This movie has wit and is clearly in tune with the gay sensibilities of young urban gay men. And it has Tim Olyphant. WOW.. what more could a movie ask for.

Summary: maybe it's not realistic, but it's entertaining -great movie
Review: I wasn't going to write a review of this movie, because I felt I probably wouldn't be able to add much. But after reading some other reviews, I have to write. Sure it's not realistic - GET OVER IT!! I enjoy movies because they amuse and entertain me, make me feel an empathy with the characters, or in some way make me feel at the end - "I really enjoyed the way I spent the last hour and a half" (or two hours, or whatever). And this movie certainly did that for me. Few of the actors are really gay, as several reviewers criticized, but I think it speaks a lot for a more accepting culture that a straight actor would be eager to take on a role that used to be fatal for his career. I think every actor did a good job on his character. Timothy Olyphant was fantastic as the good-looking main character (director's commentary reveals he bought the SUV and his own house with money from an inheritance - movie should have brought that out). Andrew Keegan as the "newbie" just coming out of the closet was very believable, and I hope this movie adds impetus to his acting career - he certainly deserves it. Those two characters were my favorite, and I really wish their relationship had evolved more - maybe in a sequel? I really enjoyed this movie, went out and bought it, and have watched it numerous times since.

Summary: Thin and a bit disappointing (lightweight Queer as Folk)
Review: I was really looking forward to seeing this moving. Based on the plot synopsis I was ready to like it. The film does have it's moments, some of them quite funny, but the film never really takes off. I found myself thinking over and over again, "Why should I really care about these people?" The only thing that came to mind was that the whole formula of characters seemed all to much like Queer as Folk, but with far let character development. All in all, I was disappointed, not to mention a little bored.
