Summary: Big Budget, Big Stars, Big Bomb
Review: This is one of those movies that you rent/watch for your significant other. I rented it for my wife since most of my movies as of recent have been mostly for me. However, I tried to keep an open mind and give it a fair shake. Unfortunately, this movie just sucked. First time director and first time screenwriters, what can you expect?

The script was just not believable. I know that romantic comedies have the liberty of taking some license here and there, but I just didn't buy so much of this movie that the whole thing just seemed fake. For starters, we're supposed to believe that Jennifer Lopez is an Italian immigrant? Come on! Her father (Alex Rocco (I)) doesn't sound Italian, he sounds retarded. I don't even know why she had to be an immigrant. There was nothing in the plot that required her being from another country, except for the fact that her father trys to arrange a marriage, which was just another unnecessary plot device. There's just so much that was wrong with this script, I'm just amazed that the leading actors signed on to this project.

The talent in this movie was fairly decent. Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey had some chemistry and they looked good together. Kathy Najimy is a wonderful comedic actress and her scene with Jennifer was very good and believable. Fred Willard, and Kevin Pollak are the other actors that do comedic roles extremely well, but their talents were simply not tapped. They did what they could, but they simply had nothing to work with. IMHO I think Jennifer Lopez signed on because she was friends with Adam Shankman (he's a choreographer) and once she signed on, everyone else jumped on board for their resume.

Summary: One of my favorites....
Review: Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey are perfect fits for the this movie. It's an all around feel good movie. It makes you imagine... Matthew is very sexy as Steve Eddison and J.Lo suites the part. Highly recommended!

Summary: The best movie in a long, long time.
Review: I didn't know they made movies like this any more. Totally enjoyable. Great characters. Really good acting. Jennifer Lopez is wonderful; so is Matthew Mc--let's see more leading man roles for him; casting is excellent and directing is superb. The script is charmingly written. I've seen it ten times.
The DVD I bought would not fill the tv screen

Summary: Chick Flick With A TOTALLY UNEXPECTED ENDING
Review: This film's surprise ending blew me away. I won't reveal it -- but what we have is a wedding planner (Hennifer Lopez) who meets and falls in love with a doctor (Connor McMatthews, or whatever his name is, that bland bongo-playing actor) and then finds out she is planning his wedding. In the meantime, it's announced that she also is engaged (to someone else), so the stage is set for her to be married to someone else, and for the doctor to be married to someone else, yet they love each other.

You're just not going to believe the outcome. It came completely out of left field, the twist the screenwriters imparted in this one. Hold onto your hat, because you will be completely astounded at the ending.

Summary: A GOOD MOVIE!!!
Review: I loved this movie, even if it did have Jennifer Lopez in it. It is really romantic, and you can not help but fall in love with it.

Summary: Very disappointed
Review: If you like not so good acting, and a boring plot, you will love this one.

Summary: ABSOLUTELY fabulous! =]
Review: JLo's best movie of all times! :] Simply put, its one of my favorite movies!

Summary: Saw it for Matt and ONLY Matt.
Review: I don't think JLo is a good actress. Loved her in Selena, but that's all. This movie reeked b/c what I thought was gonna happen did.

Now My Best Friend's Wedding was a great film

Summary: I LOVE JLO!!!
Review: This is Jennifer Lopez's best movie! It's so silly and fun, I can watch it over and over again! One of the best movies ever!

Summary: I had good intentions
Review: I decided to watch this movie after being told by a friend that I was too hard on J-Lo. "She can sing! Sort of..." I was told. After I grimaced and pretended to vomit I was told "She's a better actress than she is a singer!" Not much of a recommendation, I remember thinking. However, feeling that perhaps I WAS being too hard on "Jenny from the block" I decided to go into the viewing of this movie with an open mind. "Out of Sight" is one of your favorite movies, I kept telling myself. So with good intentions and an open mind I decided to watch "The Wedding Planner."

Absolute rubbish. That is how I would describe this movie. It was astoundingly bad. Miss Lopez' comedic timing is simply non-existent and her acting is filled with SO MUCH EFFORT that one grows physically weaker with each contortion of her face. The brand of physical comedy that Sandra Bullock consistently NAILS falls abysmally flat in this dud. Matthew McConaughey (sp?) was adequately charming but he's not going to be an Oscar candidate any time soon either. However, in fairness to the actors and their limitations, the script should have been used to potty train someone's German Sheperd. Same old, same old; but somehow worse, and more hackneyed than I thought possible.

In summary: bad script + bad acting = bad movie.

Instead of "The Wedding Planner" see "Miss Congeniality" or "Legally Blonde" intelligently done farcical comedies. Or if your truly want to see GREAT romantic comedy check out the Audrey Hepburn classics: "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "Sabrina" and "Roman Holiday".

2 stars: If its on late at night on basic cable, give it a go. Otherwise, leave it on the shelf.
