Summary: I expected the worst and got the best
Review: Leery of some of the films Brendan Fraiser has involved himself with (Encino Man, Airheads)I was suprised to actually enjoy this film. A sweet tale of love and culture shock, I found myself openly cheering for the earnest and naive Adam.

While overly cute at times (the young couple are named Adam and Eve) , I loved the attention to historical detail and costume. Walken and Spacek do a marvelous job of playing old-fashioned (but not mean spirited) parents, and Silverstone (unlike the Bat Girl Debactacle)is pretty good as the modern but wistful Eve. It is possible to want a 'nice guy' without ending up with a domineering male.

Anybody who wants a modern family movie without religious thumping or idotic puppets ought to check this one out. I thought I had outlived good comedy movies, but this really convinced me otherwise.

Summary: Goofy and very funny!
Review: This movie isn't going to win any oscars. Except, perhaps, for the supporting roles played by Christopher Walkens, Sissy Spacek, and Dave Foley. So leave your brain at the door when you watch "Blast from the Past" and you'll enjoy this movie much more.

I laughed out loud on many scenes throughout the flick. It's another Boy meets Girl movie, but yet with a different twist.

Alicia Silverstone looks absolutely great in her scenes. The chemistry between Alicia's character and Brendan Fraser's character was nice and heartwarming. Look for a lot of goofy antics and premises throughout this film.

With it's family oriented PG-13 rating, I give this one a thumbs up!

Summary: Better than I expected.
Review: I was expecting this movie to be a straight-up comedy along the lines of ENCINO MAN. I had no idea it had any romantic themes running through it. This movie was different than I was expecting, but it also exceeded my expectations.

Brendan Fraser as Adam, a man entering the "real world" for the first time after being born in a bomb shelter and living there for 35 years, pulls off a brilliant performance. Christopher Walken (who happens to be extremely underexposed, IMHO) does a great job as his dad. Then there's Alicia Silverstone. I think this is the best performance she's ever given. The onscreen chemistry between her and Fraser is just great.

Yes, this movie was a bit predictable in places, but the scenes were so well done that it didn't ruin them. They took an idea that seemed kind of formulaic and made it into something that is very fun to watch. If you're looking for a good romantic comedy, this is it!

Summary: Entrancing!
Review: I had never heard of this movie and chanced upon it at a local video store. What a find! Brendan Fraser is such a great actor, and his portrayl of the winsome, wholesome Adam Webber is another pure winner. His boyishness and naivete is so charming you almost wish you could meet something who has been hidden from the "real" world for 35 years yourself.

Like some of the critics I was disappointed in Alicia Silverstone's performance but ultimately it did not detract from the enjoyment of the movie and Sissy Spacek and Christopher Walken were just fabulous as the parents.

I won't elaborate on the story as most of the other comments seem to have already done this but all I can say is if you are looking for a pure fun movie, this is thorougly enjoyable and the dance sequence is a classic.

Summary: A "blast" of a movie!
Review: This is an excellent, charming movie that showcases the acting of Brendan Fraser and Alicia Silverstone, as well as two other great actors, Sissy Spacek and Christopher Walken (in one of his few "good guy" roles). The plot of the movie is clever and funny, and once you see it, you are drawn in to see what happens next.

Fraser is so likeable in this movie, that you instantly are on his side and the beautiful Alicia Silverstone does another fine job of acting as the girl any guy could fall for. Spacek and Walken play Fraser's "time warped" parents, yet their love and concern for their son (Fraser) is charming. The movie has a great plot and will keep the viewers interest from beginning to end. Highly recommended!

Summary: I reccomend this movie to buy
Review: This is a great film. With alot of funny and great scenes that you wish they can make more films like this. There are so few great movies but this is one of the great films which the whole family can watch. 5 star ranking i give it! It was that good!

Summary: I very solid funny movie
Review: Perhaps some people didn't like this movie because of it's lack of naked people and dirty language. I found it refreshing and wholesome and I recommend it highly. Brandon Fraser is one of the best looking men in Hollywood and Alicia Silverstone is a very talented, beautiful woman. Cissy Spacek was great and I liked her out of her usual role and Christopher Walken was perfectly casted. I didn't find it one bit boring and although the ending was pretty predictable, it was still a very, very good movie. It's nice to see a movie today that proves you don't need to swear and show certain body parts to make a good movie. I give it a 5+ star rating.

Summary: Light, smart comedy
Review: Brendan Fraser seems to specialize in `fish-out-of-water' characters, and he plays it to the hilt in this smart comedy. Fraser plays Adam Webber, the son of a Cold-War-obsessed scientist (Christopher Walken) and his wife (Sissy Spacek) who hunker down in a fallout shelter for 35 years, when they believe the big one has destroyed the earth.

In truth, a plane fell on their house, and their now-grown son only wishes to go and see the world. Their neighborhood has changed a lot, from quiet suburbia to punk clubs and adult bookstores, but Adam, who only wishes to meet a nice girl, manages to meet his match in the appropriately named Eve, nicely played by Alicia Silverstone with the right mix of incredulousness and sweetness. Dave Foley (The Kids in the Hall, NewsRadio) as Eve's gay roommate and Joey Slotnick as a stoned club owner who becomes a cult leader (you'll have to see why) are also very funny.

Director/writer Hugh Wilson has created a sweet, satirical film that features romance with light, satirical humor. It also has terrific sets (especially the Webbers' shelter) and a terrific dance scene. Blast from the Past is a light comedy that is well worth watching.

Summary: Excellent Movie
Review: This movie is great. I really like all the performances (Brendan Fraser, Alicia Silverstone, Christorpher Walken, Sissy Spacek, and Dave Foley) and thought the whole movie was just excellent. It's both funny and touching and is just a hip, feel good comedy that I just can't stop watching. If you like comedies with heart, get "Blast From the Past".

Summary: A heartwarming fish-out-of-water romance story.
Review: This movie is a very great movie for the romance lover. It's also a great movie for the comedy lover. But most importantly, it's great for the drama lover. It's about a boy named Adam Webber born and raised in a bomb shelter, all proposed by his father, who locks him and his wife in a bomb shelter for 3 decades due to a nuclear war threat, but the whole time they're down there, nothing happens. But when the 3 decades pass and Adam becomes a grown man, and the shelter opens at last, Adam decides he wants to see the outside world, and his parents realize they can't coop him up any longer. And since they're low on supplies anyway, they send him up in hopes of buying supplies and bringing down a "healthy young woman", but with caution, because his father previously went up and was shocked beyond belief by the fact his surroundings are not what they used to be: Cheerful people replaced by stumbling drunks, bright blue skies replaced by gloomy ones, and beautiful buildings replaced by run-down shacks, and Adam's father hurries down to the shelter and tries to perish the thought of going up at all, but has a heart attack through the entire experience. So Adam goes up to do just that and to make his ailing father proud. But through the whole movie, a bizarre religious group thinks Adam and his family are the family of heaven, but later save the day near the end of the movie. He then finds the "perfect" young woman, Eve, your average 90's woman who frankly thinks Adam is a freak, but grows to like him and doesn't know it, but Adam is viewed differently by her gay roommate Troy. Through it all, Adam almost loses Eve repeatedly, and risks being locked up in the loony bin, but in the end he and Eve realize they love each other, then he, Eve, and Troy build his parents a new house with Adam's riches that he didn't even know he had, through his very old and very valuable baseball cards, stock certificates, and accessories, and live happily ever after.

So if you like a wonderful combo of romance, comedy and drama, see Blast From The Past. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
