Summary: This is a great film if you love Rick Springfield' s music.
Review: I really enjoyed "Hard to Hold" even though the critics trashed it, but then they've trashed everything Rick Springfield has ever done. I guess he's just too handsome, charming, and nice to be taken seriously as a musician or as an actor. Rick puts more of himself into his live concerts than any performer I've ever seen on stage and yes, I have seen Bruce Springsteen and Pink Floyd. Yes, I confess the dirty little secret: I'm a devoted fan of Rick's, and frankly "Hard to Hold" was exactly the movie I wanted to see as a fan. Great music and a romantic rock star falls in love with an ordinary girl story line. It's not exactly Wuthering Heights--although I'd bet Rick could do a great Heathcliff--but it features some of my favorite Springfield songs and a great message: You'd better love somebody because at the end of your time on this earth the love is all that really counts. This movie is a must for all Springfield fan and romantics! Do you believe in love and happy endings? Get yourself a big bowl of buttered popcorn and curl up with "Hard to Hold." You won't be disappointed.

Summary: My Attention Was not HARD TO HOLD
Review: I saw this movie the year it was released(1984) and loved it. Then summer of 2000 after seeing Rick in concert went out and purchased again to relive the story of love being Hard To Hold and it was as good if not better than the first viewing. I give this movie two thumbs up even if you are not a Rick fan. Great storyline, great music(of course), he just deserved a better looking co-star is the only flaw in the movie. Would love to see a sequel to see what happened to Jamie and the girl. Finally, RICK KEEP ROCKING THE DRUM BEAT OF LIFE.

Summary: IF YOU'RE A FAN OF RICK YOU WILL LOVE IT!
Review: I've seen it many times. The music is great. It's a light comedy. Must see if you are a diehard fan!

Summary: Hard To Hold
Review: In "Hard to Hold", Rick Springfield was able to show the humble, compassionate and faithful side of a rock star falling in love. Working many concerts over the years, I have seen the different personalities of rock stars.(I have even met Rick!) I am very appreciative that he was able to portray a successful musician and show a more personal side. I especially can relate to the role of the teacher...since I am one! "Hard to Hold" is a Cinderella story...dreamable and believeable. I could care less if it won awards or not....I truly enjoyed watching it.

Summary: For die hard Rick fans only to appreciate
Review: It was so typical teen idol mushy only opposites attract storyline. Not a good challenge for Rick but a starring role. He is much better playing the detective like in High Tide {short-lived tv series}.He is a very talented actor when put in the right role. His music made the movie watchable and not to say being able to look at Rick was'nt hard on the eyes either talking about the scene with Rick in a towel. Overall just a bad storyline but the music was still great!

Summary: No Oscars Here!!
Review: It's not an oscar winner, but it is worth a few laughs. A "cheesy" romantic comedy. And if you like Rick Springfield, you get to see alot of him. He's actually very good in parts of the film, but there is only so much you can do with this script.

Summary: NOT SO BAD
Review: My friends & I were teens when this movie came out so of course we LOVED IT!! I bought a copy and it saw us through 2 weeks of no cable our first year at university. It has the typical rock star/love story, but it is upbeat and lighthearted. It does not do any of the actors justice as far as their talent is concerned, but it suited the times. I still am a fan of Springfield, but I think that anyone wanting to have a few laughs and a good time won't be too harsh a critic. I just wish Rick could find something to suit his matured acting abilities.

Summary: HARD TO WATCH........
Review: No B.S. here folks, even Rick himself has admitted that this was a HUGE mistake..A weak script and tepid direction did nothing to challenge Rick to portray anything more than himself. The only cliche NOT used was a motorcycle....You've seen Sinatra, Presley and even Mellencamp play this part. All with varying degrees of success, you don't need to see it here. HOWEVER, the concert sequence at the end is solid, and while it does not save the film,it does serve to redeem Rick.Again, own it at your own risk...I would suggest pairing it with "AMERICAN ANTHEM" for a bad eighties flick double feature..The JIFFYPOP is on Me.....

Summary: Enjoy it for what it is - purely simple entertainment!
Review: OK, so you definitely have to be a fan of the 1980's pop star, Rick Springfield. Don't expect it to be anything more than his signature music, soap opera acting, and a predictable rock star falls in love with your average but intelligent career woman storyline. Use the hour and half or so to sit back and be entertained in a way only a true Rick Springfield fan can appreciate and you'll be good to go!
