Summary: ...WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD
Review: This is a delightful romantic comedy. Matthew Perry is a charming, self-effacing leading man. Salma Hayek is a most fetching and winsome leading lady. Strong performances by the supporting cast help make this a most enjoyable movie.Alex Whitman (Matthew Perry) lives in New York and has a high powered job as a field agent for a builder that specializes in the construction of night clubs. He is sent to Las Vegas to supervise new construction. While there, he meets a fiery, latin beaty, Isabel Fuentes (Salma Hayek), with whom he has a very memorable one night stand. This is totally out of character for both of them. In fact, she is so embarrassed by what happened, that she sneaks out of his house first thing in the morning. Before he even knows it, she is gone, never to be heard from again, until she shows up on his door step three months later to announce that she is pregnant with his baby. Alex tells her that he supports her right to choose. Isabel chooses to have the baby. She asks nothing from him other than he meet her family, so that it is not such a shock when she announces that she is pregnant. He agrees to do so. He meets her traditional, Mexican-American family and is taken by their warmth, a quality that is sorely lacking in his family. He rarely sees his own family, except for the obligatory holidays, while Isabel meets hers once a week for dinner. Alex and Isabel fall in love and have a quickie marriage ceremony performed in Las Vegas. Naturally, as they are now husband and wife. they move in together. Then reality sets in. They contend with cultural difference, with pain in the you know what in-laws, and with the every day adjustments necessary, when living with someone one does not, as yet, know. Then, the trust that had developed is violated, and they each go their own separate ways. What happens with the baby? Does the marriage survive? Watch the movie and find out. The experience will be an enjoyable one.

Summary: A sweet romantic comedy
Review: Do opposites attract? Apparently, it does. But is the relationship easy? Not according to this film. This film questions cultural differences. Alex Whitman (Matthew Perry) is a white nightclub designer from New York City. He is committed to his job and takes no prisoners. Isabel Fuentes (Salma Hayek) is a Mexican photographer from Las Vegas. She loves the desert and is passionate about certain things. Alex is not very close to his family, whereas Isabel has dinner with her entire family (and I do mean her entire family) on Sundays. After a one-night stand, Isabel reappears in Alex's life and announces that she's pregnant. Frantic, Alex and Isabel decide to get married. After having experienced cultural and attitude clashes, Isabel and Alex fall in love. The events are sort of reversed. They engage in sexual activity, marry, have a baby, and fall in love. I love the comedy and romance in the film, and I also love the chemistry between Hayek and Perry. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Cute, Sweet, thoughful romantic comedy
Review: I thought this was such a cute movie! It shows that sometimes opposites do attract! During one seen, Salma talks to Matthew about their differences and the prejudices that both families have with each other while telling a story. This is something that every body will love, including guys!!

Summary: Fools Rush In
Review: One of my favorite alltime movies. One of the most underated movies I have seen - I think Roger Ebert got this one right, while most other reviewers were off the mark. As a WASP from the East who met and married a Hispanic Catholic from West Texas-also under trying and challenging circumstances- this movie really hit home. Some of the cultural aspects of the movie were a little exaggerated, while others were right on the money. As a guy who typically enjoys movies like Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart, and Platoon, I would still recommend this "chick flick" to anyone. The soundtrack and scenery alone (especially if you love the American West) make this movie worth watching, even if you don't like the genre. My wife and I will probably watch this on our 25th wedding anniversary.

Review: An excellent sound track and strong supporting cast highlight this moving romance. 'Fools Rush In' begins pleasantly enough as fate brings together Latina photographer Isabelle (Salma Hayek) and Ivy League New Yorker Alex (Matthew Perry) to a Las Vegas wedding chapel ceremony. The story quickly darkens as career conflict and disapproval by friends and family cause the newly-weds to doubt one another and finally separate. Especially interesting is the positive way Mexican-American culture is portrayed not only by the wonderfully honest and forthright Isabelle but also her parents, brothers, and ex-boyfriend. I've replayed this movie more times than Titanic. Is this a romantic comedy or drama? You decide. END

Summary: Charming story but left me with a question.
Review: This is one of the most charming "chick-flicks" because of the sweetness of Salma Hayek's character. Matthew Perry brings the humor. The music is very uplifting. Many of the songs can also be found on a CD called "Ultra-Lounge Volume 5". The two characters start their relationship physically first, then try to fall in love later. Along the way, they question what is meant to be. They encounter each other's families and friends and explore their likes and dislikes and the result is comical and endearing. What I am wondering is for those who are not happily married, does this movie encourage a physical relationship outside of marriage? I have seen the movie but still am not sure. On the surface, it seems like it doesn't. But what would be the end result of watching this - would a person be more or less likely to start a relationship physically? With the ending the way it was, it might make some younger viewers think true love might happen that way and end up leaving them with heartache. I'd like to hear more reviews on this aspect.

Summary: Surprisingly Insightful
Review: While Matthew Perry and all of his supporting cast certainly make this comedy fun and entertaining, it is also surprising how well written it is. Generally, there seem to be 2 basic formulas for romance stories in movies. The first formula is for a couple to start off disliking each other and end up loving each other. The second is for the couple to meet, be tested by an adversity, overcome it and live happily ever after. And one thing these two formulas share in common too often is the rush to have sex. That's where this movie comes in. It turns these formulas on their ear. In a way, this movie makes fun of the cliche' formulas of romantic movies. While trying not to give anything away, "Fools Rush In" reverse engineers the process of building a lasting relationship. In so doing, I couldn't help be think about my own relationships and wonder if I've taken all the steps and covered all the bases myself. The movie addresses in a delightfully funny and entertaining way some of the many of the major decisions couples need to work out, such as: how they will mitigate cultural differences, how they will work out career conflicts, where they should live, when to have children, what to do with well-meaning but medling friends and family... This really is a surprisingly insightful romantic comedy; I have no regrets for purchasing it and I doubt you will either.

Summary: Funny and Romantic
Review: This is a delightful and funny movie, Matthew and Selma are both great, there was a real chemistry with their character's. The Parents were just as great, Perry's real dad played Alex' dad. This is one of my favorite movies. It is funny, warm and romantic. Just adorable.
