Rating: Summary: The Funniest Movie of 2000 (so far) Review: I might change my mind on "Me, Myself, and Irene" after I eventually see "Scary Movie", but the Farrelly Brothers have struck gold once again! The humor presented is fairly consistent with their earlier films, which makes me wonder about all of those who complained about the language. C'mon folks, you knew this wasn't a re-run of "Touched By An Angel"! What were you expecting?Jim Carey's performance in this motion picture leaves little doubt as to why he's one of the best physical comedians since Chevy Chase. Renee Zelweger's performance is competent, but I thought the chemistry between her and Carey was somewhat lacking. The plot of the picture is rather simple-Charley Baileygates (Carey), a much put-upon Rhode Island State Trooper, is assigned to delver Zelweger's character back to New York where she's wanted on an arrest warrant for embezzlement. Charley soon finds that things are not quite on the up and up, at which point the movie turns into a rather formulaic "killers chasing intended victim protected by cop" movie. Fortunately, this part of the movie is made interesting by a direct injection of sex and body part jokes. It seems to me that those reviewers who complained about the excess of this type of humor and who have seen previous Farrelly pictures knew what they were getting into, although I would agree that this movie is inappropriate for small children. Overall, I found "Me, Myself, and Irene" to be one of the funniest pictures of the summer of 2000. If you liked the previous movies of the Farrelly Brothers, you'll find this relatively consistent.
Rating: Summary: Could this movie have been better? Review: I loved the idea and the comedic acting of Jim Carrey...he is really a rather good actor...but, I hated the language and the scenes that turned to dirt. I wish (really wish) they would have left out some of the distateful language (putting it mildly) and some of the raw scenes. This could have been one of the best comedies in years...please tell Jim to use his talents and acting skills in a movie that the whole family can watch and feel relaxed watching a movie together. He is a very talented man. Thanks! A concerned mom and a fan of good comedy.
Rating: Summary: A typical Farrelly movie Review: The humour in »Me, Myself & Irene« is, not surprisingly, a lot like the one in »There's Something About Mary«... yet with a little extra something because of Jim Carrey's unique mimic! You have search really hard to find a story, though. The humour is the excuse for making this movie, and in a way, that's a shame.
Rating: Summary: me, myself & I cried Review: The movie started as any poke in the side flick would. But after the main surprise kicks you in the funny bone.....HOLD ONTO YOUR GOOBERS! Myself an my wife cried hysterically till the bitter-sweat end. All I could do was tell everybody I knew to watch it(minus children, it deserves its rating justly). It is the best thing Carry has done since "Truman" and the first "In Living Color" shows. If the fat man from siskel and ebert were around......he'd of given it the fat flush! translation: A must see film for 2000 Its about time that America loosens-up! This ones not for any stuffy bible bashers............ 100% nonpolitically correct(thank God!)
Rating: Summary: I had to see it to believe it Review: If I had HEARD about this movie I would have decided it was rude, disrespectful, obscene and vulgar. The truth is, it IS those things, but it's just SO FUNNY that it's so INTENSELY all those things. It's a parody of rudeness, disrespect, obscenity and vulgarity in movies. We're talking OVER THE TOP here. It helps that the camera work is beautifully done (some of the scenery is just gorgeous -- and as a backdrop for the slapstick, often disgusting humor of Carrey, it makes the joke doubly funny), the acting is good, Zellweiger is fun to watch (even as much as Carrey is), and the supporting actors are all very talented as well. The story itself is really hilarious. The fact that this movie is so well done, makes the obscenity easier to observe - and even funnier. I'm a pretty staid person. If you look at my profile, you'll see I'm a mother of six little kids. A wild night for me is watching SNL with my husband (and we can't usually manage to stay up that late) and I am telling you that this movie is EXTREMELY vulgar. But it's one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I'm the one who frowns at degrading jokes and comments, "that's just disrespectful, it isn't funny..." There were parts during this movie that I was laughing so hard I couldn't sit straight in my chair. I never laughed so hard at a movie in my life! The entire audience was rolling in their seats, too. What a trip! (By the way, in case you're not a mom and you've seen the movie, I can tell you that babies really DO look that way when they nurse! I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard during that scene.) I can recommend this one to just about any adult -- but you can't go into it waiting to be offended - if you can't find the humor in stereotypes, then skip this one. If just the sight of a dildo is likely to make you faint, definitely do not go see this movie! Otherwise, I heartily recommend this one to you. We're buying ours as soon as it's released on dvd.
Rating: Summary: The worst movie I've seen in years Review: All the supposedly funny parts of this film are already in the previews. This movie is filled with profanity and it displays perverse sexual fantasies. I didn't laugh in this movie, instead I cried having spent six bucks to see this absolutely worst film that I've seen in years. The acting? Well, it's not one of Jim Carrey's best performances. Zellweger did a good job though, but she deserves better. In my opinion, the storyline is a little offbeat, and honestly, I wouldn't spend my money again to see this flick.
Rating: Summary: Little laugh here and there but nothing Dramatic Review: Me, Myself and Irene was for my opinion just another comedy but with a great deal of dark humor. I do not think that creators of this film knew a limit of f-word usage. I also found it difficult to find a funny scene. Most of the jokes are dumb and naive. Oh, how I want some inteligent humor! What happened to movies like Liar Liar?
Rating: Summary: This one is a middle of the road comedy for Jim Carrey! Review: Me, Myself and Irene was a major letdown. I expected this to be extremely funny when it was only slightly funny at best. There are some great gags throughout which you will get a few laughs off of but the movie is just too slow paced between the gags to make this film a winner. The problem isn't with Jim Carrey or Renee Zellweger, they are both great. The problem is there are more holes in this story than targets at a shooting range. This script should have been rewritten before it was filmed but appears that it might have been rushed to get it on the screen in time for a summer release. Bottomline, if you really want to see this...catch it on a Matinee....its not worth the full price to see it.
Rating: Summary: The worst movie I've seen in years Review: It's a shame to broadcast previews with the only somewhat funny parts in this movie, trying to lure people to spend hard-earned money to see this piece of garbage. Only perverts will like this disgusting film. It's not a funny movie as moviegoers are confronted with profanity one sequence and even sentence after the other, and it features perverse sexual fantasies only sick people will appreciate. The acting is worse than in a low-budget movie from the 70s as each of the characters, incl. Carrey's are shallow and without substance. I only feel sorry for Zellweger to be in this movie, she deserves better I think. Even technically, including the editing, the movie is flawed from beginning to end. And the storyline is so out of wack that it's not even worth wasting a word about it. No wonder that only four people sat with me in the theatre to watch it. Don't waste your money and time on this one; I really regret I did.
Rating: Summary: A Dirty little Movie... Review: This movie is a laugh riot for those fans of the Farrely. This is Jim Carey's return to slapstick comedy after his recent and valent attempts at drama. Getting drop-kicked over a rail down a hill, crashing a car through a barber shop window, and putting a marital aid in his...well you get the picture, Jim is back and funnier than ever. If you like movies like Friday, etc. than you will apreciat Cary's sons who are the illegitimate son his X-wife had with a migdet, but cary took and raised as his own. A movie for all teen agers and the fans of sick humor. Go and see the second you get the chance!
