Summary: It's Aiight
Review: It's a cool movie all about hip hop. But the strangest thing is that it doesnt have enough rhyming in it though. They also mention the two words "Hip Hop" sooo much. But check it out if you can, just don't rush.

Summary: Nice Try...
Review: This movie could have been great but it turned out to be yet another failed attempt. There was little to no character development in this transparent script, "friends in love, friends don't know they are in love, friends in love".
Also, this film is another production that paints the only way for young Black Americans to be successful is to be involved in the entertainment industry, i.e. rapper, music producer, or professional athlete. Also this movie leads you to believe that all young Black Americans are wrapped up in the hip hop culture that we spontaneously burst into classic raps songs.
Overall this movie had all the right ingredients yet was put together poorly. Nice try...

Summary: A real love story about true love
Review: I've give this movie 6 stars becaues it deserves them. Most love stories today don't explore the importance of the foundation of true friendship between soul mates. This movie not only explores the necessity of the foundation of a friendship, but it also depicts the mistake of loving someone who isn't your best friend. Go buy this movie, check out your friendship, relationship, or whatever you are in and make sure that you are not in a jam you shouldn't have got into in the first place!

Summary: Refreshing!
Review: Simply put, "Finally a nice movie". My husband and I identified with the characters and cared about their fate. Oh, and boy did we laugh. This is a great movie for anyone who loves young people in love with life. I enjoyed it just as much the second time I watched it. Yes, I wanted to see it again.

Summary: An Extremely Enjoyable Film
Review: There's not much, if any, to dislike about this film. That's RARE these days. Sanaa Lathan is one of the most pleasantly beautiful actresses around- The more you see her, the better she looks AND her personality begins to warm you all over. This film only exhudes that charm! Sanaa is fabulous and very winning.
The movie is not an over the top, super-duper movie,. It's just a movie that you will enjoy, laugh, and have a good time with- For me, that's great.

Summary: brown sugar
Review: the best movie-love watching nyc, giving hip hop its props and for once, seeing realistic adult relationships when it comes down to love and finding out that you can be happy, but it will take some work. Most movies or people think you must stay in a relationship "because"-but in browm sugar, the right couple got got together-even though it was complicated. Mos Def was superb because he was real and had great character; while Queen Latifah was my girl-of course Sanaa is still a great actress!

Summary: Better than lovejones
Review: Well, I have to say now that this is my favourite love story. This movie brings together two of my favourite subjects and marriages them into one great movie.

Before I bought this film I read the reviews, but still I wasn't sure, now I am.

Watch this film

Summary: A fine romantic comedy that shows love for hip-hop
Review: I wasn't expecting much from "Brown Sugar," but it is one of the better romantic comedies of the last few years. The film is about two childhood friends who bonded because of their love of hip-hop, which continues into the present. They appear to be in love with one another, yet both get involved in separate relationships during the film. Also, Taye Diggs' character is struggling at a major record label, while the beautiful Sanaa Lathan is a successful writer/editor of XXL magazine. I won't give away the plot, though given the genre this is relatively predictable stuff. But the feelings are so deeply felt and the love of music so powerful that this overcomes its formulaic subject matter. Especially great is rapper Mos Def as an up-and-coming MC. Not only is he a terrific rapper, but a fine comedic actor. One last thing: the opening of the film with interviews of many important people in hip-hop (Pete Rock, Russell Simmons, et. al.) expressing their love for the music sets the scene for the film exquisitely.

Summary: Best black film in a while
Review: Yes, Brown Sugah was all that !

Nothing wrong at all. I saw it the day it came out and saw again the following Monday.

Shout out to, Taye and Sanaa ! Sorry this movie is better than Barber Shop; that movie was a real drag.

Oh, suggestion check out the soundtrack too ! Movie came out three months ago and I still listen to it.

They have different verisons of "Brown Sugah" the song on the cd.
