Summary: good movie
Review: Gave it 4 stars for the male actors in this movie. They really did a superb job! Meg Ryan was fairly bad in this movie. definitely worth seeing at some point.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Hugh Jackman *sigh*
Review: For anyone that enjoys trashy romance novels, this is a movie for you. I have read 100s of romances and it was great to actually see a movie that had a male character like the ones from the books. Of course, Hugh Jackman's Leopold makes modern men look completely lacking. But then, so do the romance novels. =) Definitely a chick flick. I can't imagine any guys liking this movie, so gather some girlfriends to watch this one. Hugh Jackman made this movie great. Meg Ryan almost became like a supporting actor rather than the main character. A great movie to watch and fantasize about the perfect man. Is there really anyone like Leopold out there??

Summary: Kate and Leopold is not just a chick flick.
Review: Guys, read the title. Women will enjoy this movie, because it is romantic, and has Meg Ryan (The Queen of the chick flick), and is downright "cute" in its entirety. Thrown in for good measure is newcomer Aussie Hugh Jackman (X-men's Wolverine and a top contender for James Bond after Pierce Brosnan retires) as romantic lead Leopold, a real life duke from the 18th Century.

This movie will keep guys interested too. Though romance is the key element here, there are doses of comedy, physical comedy, and science fiction. Leopold is from another time, brought here (ironically) by Kate's ex-boyfriend, who happens to be a genius inventor. Their is no time machine here to bog down the story. Time travel is broken down as a simple theory and is beautifully handled here.

Supporting cast including Myer Breckman (Rat Race) as Kate's hilarious actor-brother who thinks Leopold is a method actor who just won't break character, Leiv Schreiber (Phantoms/Scream 2-3)as Meg's ex-boyfriend, and film veteran Phil Bosco in a deliciously understated cameo as Leopold's trusted servant Otis, all turn in strong performances.

A great couples film with mass appeal.

Keep your eye on Hugh Jackman. This guy really is the next Mel Gibson.

Summary: Kate & Leopold....just a nice movie
Review: My husband and I saw Kate & Leopold on New Year's Day. We both liked the movie very much...it was like taking a step back into a time when people were more genteel...more caring, etc.
Hugh Jackman's role fit him like a "glove"..he was perfect for it! And, Meg Ryan's role as the "non-believer" suited her, in my opinion, as she generally looks like she doesn't quite "get it"..or "believe it." (I only wish..and once again, this is in my very humble opinion...that Ms. Ryan, along with many other "stars"... would realize how AWFUL they look with haircuts that resemble a child playing with scissors!!!!!!)
However, all in all, if one is looking for a movie that you don't have to "think" too much, you can just enjoy it for what it is...a nice movie...then I would recommend this movie...and have...to anyone.

Summary: Enjoyable but flawed
Review: I quite enjoyed this, but thought that more careful writing could have made it as good as it deserved to be.
Much of the situation's interest comes from how a titled gentleman from 1876 would react to New York in the 21st Century.
Much of that is charmingly done--and Jackman himself does a marvelous job.
But a gentleman of that time would have been shocked to the garters by Kate's morality. He never would have carried her to her bedroom if he thought of her of anything but a trollop, and she asks him to stay the night?
Further his demonstrated "gallentry" in lighting a cigarette for a woman (with a wooden matach) is something he wouldn't have done even for a prostitute.
The recreation of 1876 is wonderful. Meg Ryan is wonderful. Everythingh is wonderful except the research.

Also, did I miss something. One review said Jackman was Kate's bofriend's grandfather--and there is some incest issue. Maybe I was asleep during that part but I saw no reference to is in the film.

Summary: Ryan was flat and colorless.
Review: I'm really sorry to be the lone voice of dislike, here, but this movie had no color. It was almost like Ryan was saying, "The studio is making me do another one of these stupid romantic comedies." She obviously didn't want to be tHere, whcih made it really hard for the audience to enjoy viewing her performance. Because she was so colorless, negative, and almost bored with her performance, there was really no chemistry between her and Jackman. He did a wonderful job, as did Schribner as her nutty ex-boyfriend. even her brother lit up the screen. Unfortuately, chemistry is the main ingredient in any romanitc comedy, and this one had no fizzle at all. I could have walked out halfway through, and never missed a thing.

Summary: A very enjoyable movie!
Review: If you want to go to a movie with your boyfriend/friends/yourself, then you will like "Kate and Leopold". Since I am a bit of a history buff (reenactor from the same time era as Leopold is in,) I enjoyed the movie. I didn't realize that there was going to be a surprise ending to it, which just shocked me. It's a very sweet movie, and I don't think it will hurt Meg Ryan or Hugh Jackman's career. You know how you feel you wanna do one of those movies that gets your spirit up, this would be it! I'm not going to tell you the plot, I'll just let you go see it and find out for your self and see how you like it, instead of me telling you. Though I was insulted when I came into the movie theater (the ticket person asked me if I was old enough to see this movie...*scoff*.) I'll just tell you this: If you want a warm hearted, giggle-fest, modern New York/love story, you will be pleased by this simple story about believing in love even though it comes up as a 125 year old man shot from the past to the present. I can't wait till it comes out on video/DVD.

Summary: Best Movie I ever saw!
Review: I absolutely Loved this Movie. People who love books like Pride & Prejudice, and movies like "Bounce" and "Someone Like You" (also with Hugh Jackman)will love "Kate and Leopold" also! Hugh Jackman is an absolute Hottie! And almost every female will tell you that she idolizes a man with the charm and mannerisms that he portrays in this movie. Sure, Meg Ryan does pretty much the same role that she does in most of her Romantic Comedies, but she does them well! This movie is the movie to see if your just looking for some good old fashioned, true love. This Movie was absolutely exquisite!!!!

Summary: Leave the theater with your head in the clouds!
Review: This movie is definately for the romantic comedy fans. Meg Ryan does an outstanding job portraying a bussiness woman working her way to the top with her "crazy" ex-boyfriend still living in her building. He claims to have found a hole in time, and his mysterious and extremely attractive guest (Hugh Jackman) claims to be from 1876. With his romantic charm, chivalry and respectful manner, he changes the lives of three New Yorkers while unknowingly changing history for himself. Although this is definately a chick-flick, it is one that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to leave theaters with their head in the clouds!

Summary: Be still my heart...
Review: Yes, this movie was pure, fun romantic fluff. But come on people, it's Meg Ryan. That's what she's known for! And she does it so well. But the absolute highlight was Hugh Jackman as Leopold, the Duke of Albany. What girl didn't sigh over him at least twenty times during this movie? I know I was getting pretty jealous that someone that handsome, witty, courteous, and all around adorable doesn't exist in my own life. And Hugh is just a fantastic actor who's becoming one of my favorites. Not to mention the rest of the cast, who were wonderful, especially Breckin Myer as Kate's brother. All around a romantic comedy to be watched over and over again!
