Summary: Probably Eddie Murphy's Best!!!
Review: I have watched "Coming to America" so many times that I have memorized just about every line in the film. "Coming to America" has to be one of the funniest films ever made, and probably Eddie Murphy's best work!The film revolves around a prince, who is set to marry his future queen now that he's turned 21. However, the prince has doubts because he doesn't quite believe that a person should have to learn to love their spouse. He decides that he would like to find his own bride, so he and his friend begin a quest to America to find his queen. They end up in Queens, New York where everything is different from what he's used to. One day the prince finally sees the lady of his dreams and sets out to make her his wife. Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall play numerous hilarious characters throughout the film that will have you rolling on the ground laughing! I would highly recommend this film to anyone who would like to watch a film that you can never grow tired of and laugh at repeatedly!!! You won't be disappointed!!!

Review: This is a feel good movie with the main players being Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall. Young Prince Akeem is about to be wed to a beautiful woman, but the problem is he does not love this women. He decides he will travel to Queens, NY In America and find his true love. Now how does a pampered Africian Prince
survive in Queens. Soon he falls in love with his bosses daughter and the story takes you through a tender courtship.
I loved her father, and the King and Queen were priceless!
This was a really fun movie! The wedding scenes at the end were beautiful and my favorite part. Well worth your time to watch!

Review: It's an Eddie Murphy movie, OF COARSE IT'S FUNNY! It's not his greatest work, but there are pleaty of good jokes and a tad of romance in there.if you like eddie murphy, you'll want to see this. if you like funny movies that don't get stupid, you'll want to see this. but, the jokes get old after a while.

Review: No doubt at all that, 'Coming to America,' is one of Eddie Murphy's finest movies of all. A true comedy classic, this film will have you rolling from start to finish at the zany characters and performance throughout. The DVD itself, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. As far as extras go the only ammenity offered is 1 lousy trailer. Also, the video transfer itself is far from pristine and the Dolby 5.1 audio track sounds like it could still be sweetend up. Sure, i suppose the fact that this DVD was authored back in 1999 may explain why the disc comes across as a bit primitive in terms of bells and whistles, but with that being said, it's high time for a proper re-release to do this comedy classic some audio-visual justice!

Summary: The Original King of Queens
Review: Eddie Murphy is a Prince in Africa and decides to leave before his matchmade wedding to sew his oates. His real goal is to truly fall in love with somebody genuine. He brings lacky Arsenio Hall with him and ends up in NYC. Murphy who is rich brings only petty cash with him and finds himself in a neighborhood bordering on Brooklyn-Queens. His first stop a Barber shop where Murphy and Hall play characters from an Old black stubborn fight fan to a jewish-american jokester. This material is classic! They venture on to nightclubs doing their own characters and Arsenio even does a classic reverand at at a Church. They find themselves working at Mc Dowells a parody for Mc Donalds where they work with the unenthused Louie Andersen. Murphy meets the boses daughter who is already dating the pre ER Erique La Salle. She falls for Murphy after he stands up to hold up man Samuel L. Jackson. Landis connects this movie to the previous "Trading Places" by showing the homeless Don Ameche and Ralph Bellamy recieve a gift from the the Prince. Although this movie has it's serious side this is probably Murphy's funniest movie, Stand Up aside. It's hard to forget Murphy singing Jackie Wilsons "To Be Loved" in the middle of the night only to be told by the neighbors to Shut Up! This is a must see!

Summary: Five star cast in a hilariously funny film "fit for royalty"
Review: Coming to America is truly the creme de la creme of the comedic genre. I have watched this movie many times, and never can resist throwing my head back and laughing out loud in total glee. Sometimes I even admit to falling right off the couch in fits of laughter! Murphy's principal role in the movie is that of Prince Akeem, with Arsenio Hall as his sidekick and personal servant Semi (though both play numerous other minor roles with the help of elaborate makeup to disguise the fact). Promised in marriage to a beautiful woman raised from birth to please him, Akeem finds himself dissatisfied with the very idea of an arranged marriage. He wants to select a wife with a mind of her own who loves him for himself. Hence Akeem's decision to leave the kingdom of Zamunda to travel to America. Unaware of his son's true purpose for the trip, King Jaffre Jafur decrees that Akeem simply needs to take a trip to "sow his royal oats." James Earl Jones as the King, and Madge Sinclair as the Queen are hilarious in their roles as Akeem's parents. Akeem and Semi leave their luxurious lifestyle in the palace behind and end up in Queens, NY, posing as "average Americn students." They secure jobs at a knockoff of McDonald's, owned by Mr. McDowell (engagingly portrayed to hilarious effect by John Amos) and his daughters Lisa and Patrice. Falling hard for the eldest daughter Lisa (Shari Headley), Akeem competes with her boyfriend, Darrell(Eric LaSalle), the arrogant, smooth talking heir to the "Soul Glo" hair product fortune, for her affections. The numerous conflicts and silly situations that stem from this will keep you in stitches. Blessed with an EXCELLENT cast who each make the utmost of their roles (those mentioned previously, plus Samuel L.Jackson, Louie Anderson, Don Ameche and others), truly funny material, witty dialogue, and a delightful feel-good ending, Coming to America is a movie not to be missed. I hope you enjoy this frothy funfilled comedy as much as I did!

Review: Coming to America is one of the funniest Eddie Murphy movies ever made. It's a film about a naïve, "Zamundan," prince who knows that there is more to the world than what lies within the palace walls, and he is determined to get out and see it, oh yeah, and find his bride too! In addition to a good storyline the movie also has a great cast; Eddy Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones act in this film, and that's just while he's still in Africa. Murphy's and Hall's famous costume work is shown off in this film, particularly in the barber shop scene where the viewer is treated to heated debates about which boxer is superior. There is also one catchy song which I heard in this movie, "She's your Queen," which sung in a very high voice while the bride which the protagonist's parents selected is approaching. The song includes such funny lines as, "completely free from infection~" But there was also something very odd in this movie. There is no such country as Zamunda, they just made it up for the movie, but in the credits for the movie they thank the, "Zamundan Film Commission." Either they did not expect people to read the credits or they were implying that there are Africans who actually live as they do in Zamunda; I thought Eddie Murphey of all people would not participate in a movie which tries to stereotype Africans. If they had not thanked the "Zamundan Film Commission," there would have been no problem, after all, there are many African (such as a Nigerian teacher which I used to have) who really enjoyed this movie. I would have gone up to five stars but I am deducting one for either implying that a country like Zamunda could actually exist in Africa or thinking that not many people would actually read the credits and so ignore that part of it.

Review: Coming to America is without a shadow of a doubt a FUNNY and GREAT Eddie Murphy film. Eddie Murphy plays a African prince who is arranged to marry a woman, but he does not love this woman, so he goes to Queens to find his wife. Of course every character in this movie is either Eddie Murphy or Hall, including the old men in the barber shop. Now Eddie works in a rip-off of McDonalds called McDowells, and Eddie falls in love with the owner's daughter, but she is dating darell; a jerrycurl guy with good looks. Now Eddie wants to make sure that he lives poor, and he tries to live poor by moving into a poor Queens neighborhood and works at McDowells. Now he wants to convince McDowell's daughter without telling her that he is a prince. Then comes in his parents, and they want to know what happen to his son, now he must go back to Africa and get married. So as the movie moves along, it gets funnier and funnier and the movie is still funny after seeing it so many times. This is a classic, and very funny to watch over and over again.
