Rating: Summary: Very entertaining Review: I'll start right off the bat by saying this movie is not for everyone. It takes a certain sense of humor to appreciate it. I found it very witty, smart and hilarious. Suprisingly good.
Rating: Summary: A truly wonderful film... Review: This is a rare, really great movie. It's a lot like Raising Arizona, in that each time you watch it you find something new and hilarious that you've missed before. There is also a great deal of symbolism in this movie - I'd love to analyze it...when it drops down from the rental price. This is definitely an odd movie, with some astounding scenes and lines...and some innovative cinematography. It also leaves you feeling very good and confident :-) Anyway, I highly recommend this to anyone who would rather clean the toilets at Dodger Stadium with their tongue than see Wild Wild West.
Rating: Summary: Bad, really really bad Review: I saw this movie in reaction to such wonderful critical praise. I was deceived. This movie was not brilliant or wonderful, nor was the story any good (and the acting for that matter) I found the plot completly unrealistic and the characters unappealing. I could not figure out the plot, and moreover, I could not figure out why so many people liked it. Also, can anyone tell me if it was a comedy or a drama? It wasn't funny or very dramatic, so I couldn't really qualify it in any catagory. If you want a movie about a disfuntional teen, I would like you to see a good movie like maybe A Clockwork Orange say. Another good Malcolm McDowell vehicle that is more along Rushmore lines is IF. Personally I think it is a better film than Rushmore, and is what Rushmore could have been.
Rating: Summary: HELLO! A SECRET LIES BELOW: Review: What is not widely known is that "Rushmore" is perhaps the greatest film ever made. Honestly. Unfortunately, many, many people, most of whom I would not necessarily consider "close friends" but more work aquaintances, take me to task on this statement, and, quite often, many, many fisticuffs have ensued, followed by much, much drinking to dull the resulting pain. Please keep the above-stated secret to yourself if you do NOT value social leprosy. Take care.
Rating: Summary: Best Comedy of '98 Review: Extremely funny. Bill Murray is hilarious. A must see
Rating: Summary: Masterpiece Review: This is the best movie i've ever see
Rating: Summary: Best Comedy in a long... long... time Review: This movie has got to be one of the most subteley hilarious movies I have ever seen. The writing is excellent and you can't help but admire the main character Max Fischer (Jason Schwartzmen is the new actor on the block to watch... I hope he does more films) I will say that this movie takes a certain acquired taste. I showed this movie to a lot of people and some just didn't get it and schlepped it off as a stupid movie (Bomabardement Society... come'on... thats goddarn funny as heck to me) while some people could not stop belly laughing (Bill Murray and Jason Scwartzmen in the elevator w/ Bill smoking two cigarrettes at once while having a mixed drink in the Diet Coke... hahahhaha) 5 Stars... This movie is definetely one of my favorites of all time... On par with The Graduate.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time. Review: It's been 24 hours since I've seen this movie and I'm still wondering what was the point. If this is classified as a comedy, I'm sorry but I forgot to laugh. Thirty minutes into the movie, I was wondering what the significance of the scenes were. I was still wondering this at the end of the film. It was like watching a 90 minute positioning of unrealistic characters. The movie went nowhere and the characters weren't complex. The only saving grace for this movie was the closing sound track title, Oh la la by the Faces.
Rating: Summary: Definately one of the years 5 best! Review: What a fantastically fun film! From the moment that this movie started, I knew that I was in for more than I bargained for. The script, the acting, the overall auora that this film gives off just made me love this film. I was very upset that this movie didn't get more awards. Bill Muarry wasn't even nominated for an Oscar! The best roll of his career, and he doesn't even get nominated. Oh well. I know the truth: Rushmore rules!
Rating: Summary: Great, quirky flick Review: Anyone who complains that all movies look alike should see this film. It has touching drop-dead funny moments, sometimes simultaneously, all held together by a weird style you have to see to believe.
