Rating: Summary: Music Help Review: This is for the reviewer who lamented the lack of a soundtrack for Matchmaker. No, I've not found a soundtrack, but I do know that the last song, sung by Sean (very badly!), is Van Morrison, but I've not yet been able to find it anywhere. Music by the Prodigals is also in the movie, so you can find one of their CD's if you like. I liked the movie a lot and was captivated by the scenery, the accents and the down-to-earth, finding himself, laughing boy, Sean. Janeane G. was okay, but her voice is grating at times--too nasal. Favorite scene: singing contest on Inismoor!
Rating: Summary: Music Review: I absolutely loved this movie. I never saw it in the big screen and am sorry I missed it. There are a few reviews asking about the music. The last song was Van Morrison's called "Irish Heartbeat". To the other inquiry, if you use the movie link at the bottom of the Amazon page, you get film detail. One option is the sountrack list. It tells you the names of the songs a performers. Unfortunately there is no soundtrack CD.
Rating: Summary: Mission of Mercy Review: please someone out there tell me the name / artist of the virtually last record on the Matchmaker. I only ever caught the end of this great film and think it might be called 'our own' or 'one of our own' or like
Rating: Summary: Janeane shines Review: I usually don't care for romantic comedies (I'm a fan of Janeane Garofalo but couldn't stand "Cats & Dogs"), but this one won me over. The fresh (for American movies, at least) setting in rural Ireland was good, and Ms. Garofalo made the movie work with her smarts and pluck. The plot is formulaic and nothing special, but the stereotypes of the crusty old Irish people were fun to watch, and the up-and-down romance between the leads was enough to pull the movie forward. I can't in good conscience give this modest feel-good flick more than three stars, but the movie did give me the warm fuzzies at times. Trust me, three stars for a romantic comedy is high praise from me.
Rating: Summary: Breathtaking and truly remarkable Review: I love this movie!! Every time I see it, I book a trip to Ireland. The people depicted are truly lifelike. I, too, would love to know the melody makers for this flick. Thanks

Rating: Summary: I love this movie Review: My husband and I rented this movie on a whim about 2 years ago - we had never heard anything about it, but it looked interesting. We both fell in love with it, and bought it a few months ago. It's very much a romantic comedy, and being set and filmed partially in Ireland, the scenery is just beautiful.
Rating: Summary: A Hollywood Irish film Review: I bought the film based on the reviews. I thought it was a complete waste of time; a Hollywood take on Ireland. The leads are entirely unappealing and the cliches are nonstop (stupid politicians, the wonder of rural Ireland, I hate you, I love you love story). Also, the usual unnecessary profanity. Perhaps I saw a different movie?
Rating: Summary: The Matchmaker Review: I saw half of this movie on the Romance Channel and went out to buy it the next day so I could finish it. In this delightfully funny romantic comedy, Janeane Garofalo plays Marcy Tizard, an ambitious campaign worker who is sent to Ireland to search for the lineage of Sen. John McGlory. Single Marcy winds up in Ireland just in time for the annual matchmaking festival...that's when the fun begins. Although the movie has its dry spots, Janeane really makes up for it with her quirky comebacks, and smart-alic remarks. And who ever knew she had such a great smile?! This is truly an adorable movie that is sure to please all Janeane Garofalo fans. I give it 3 very enthusiastic thumbs up!
Rating: Summary: one of my favorite films Review: I was more than pleasantly surprised by this film, after being dragged to it by a friend who is a rampant David O'Hara fan. It is a funny, touching film with excellent performances and beautiful scenery, and although it contains more than one Irish cliche (or should I say Hollywood-created Irish cliches), the likable characters and storyline allow you to overlook the stereotypes. Great soundtrack too...if only I could find a recording somewhere!
