Summary: Charlie's Angels: 2 movies in 1, on an awesome DVD
Review: By the average customer rating of 3 1/2 stars, I can tell this movie isn't the most well-liked movie in the world, and I can tell some of the negative reviews of this movie claim Charlie's Angels is nothing more than mindless drivel. Well, technically that's correct, but that's only 1/2 of the movie. And that's the half director McG calls an "ode-to-joy, pop-a-wheelie kind of movie", and I couldn't agree more. But I want to remind you people that there is a plot in this movie! And may I say that it's a very clever plot indeed, very reminiscent of the TV show, that leads to a heavy plot-twist that's completly unpredictible; one that seems to just pop out of left field, but yet, makes sense if you go back and observe.

What I'm trying to say is Charlie's Angels is 2 movies seamlessly combined; an old-fashioned "leave your brain at the door" movie, and a movie quite the opposite. And it's totally up to you which one you want to see. If you're bored and need some good entertainment, I recommend you watch this as a "leave-your-brain at the door movie". This means for you to pay as little attention to the plot as possible, and focus on all the eye candy McG has to offer, like the Angels themselves. Also, focus on the spectacular array of stars that appear in the movie, even for only a glorified cameo, like Matt LeBlanc, Luke Wilson, Tom Green, Sam Rockwell, Tim Curry, Bill Murray, and the list goes on and on. But don't forget the fight scenes, the action sequences, the cool visuals (like the slow-motion hair flips and the split screens), and last, but not least, the knockout explosions. But if watching the movie this way doesn't appeal to you, watch it for the plot only. Follow the plot as it happens, and try to find clues of the plot twist in the middle of the movie, and keep reminding yourself that the "leave your brain at the door" stuff DOES have a place in the movie, and that Charlie's Angels is NOT just an empty-headed movie with all pizzazz and no plot. I recommend watching the movie one way, and then the other. If you watch it only one way OR the other, you haven't really seen the whole movie. However, if you try to watch both movies in one sitting, you'll be confused about the movie and may not like it, which may explain why the people who hate this movie feel the way they do. I recommend to those people to give this movie another chance the way it was meant to be seen.

Did I mention this is also a GREAT DVD? It has awesome picture quality and sound, and also features director and cinematographer commentary, five behind-the-scenes featurettes, the bare-bones version of the thin man alley fight scene without the wire-removal and the music. It also features all the deleted scenes, the music videos, talent files, and the two theatrical trailers for Charlie's Angels, as well as 6 others for other movies. This is one of the best DVDs I own, and it is a MUST-BUY!

So, to summarize this review, Charlie's Angels is two movies mixed together to make one awesome final product, on an awesome DVD! SEE THIS MOVIE!

Summary: incredable!!!
Review: This movie is sure to be my all time fav. The special effects were stunning, and the characters were perfect. The plot was a little complicated(like in most action movies) so I suggest to watch it a few times. It had every thing an action movie should have; suspense, drama, killer effects and moves, and romance. The plot was great, it kept you on your toes and trying to figure out will happen next. If you haven't seen this movie, go to blockbuster right now and get it!! You won't regret it!!!

Summary: WORST SO-CALLED REMAKE
Review: I finally gave in and rented the video and decided to be opened minded and give this film a chance. I grew up in the '70s so I knew the original "Charlie's Angels" t.v. show well. I normally like Cameron Diaz as an actor, But what was she thinking in doing this film?! The plot was unstable, the acting was poor and Bosely's part, played by Bill Murray, was turned into a mockery. Drew Barrymore could have "produced" a good remake or made a decent updated one, but she did it very sloppy instead. Why, was this film allowed out on screen? Especially considering most films, even the good ones, are often shelved before their debut. They should be forced to rename the title. The music was good.

Summary: Loved It
Review: Besides the plot and the girls, which you'll have to read another review to get the skinny on, I thought the DVD version was excellent.

After we watched the film the first time, we went back through, slowing down the action sequences... it was a blast. This was definantly a great movie to get on DVD.

Summary: The Most Over-Hyped & Disappointing Movie Of The Year 2000
Review: Please don't believe all the hype about Charlie's Angels. The movie was weak and not worthy of buying ( rent only ). The movie was very unsatisfying and typical. Basically you watch 3 barbie dolls say catch phrases and beat up soft villians. The action in the movie was not like I expected. I am tired of movies trying to be like The Matrix & Mission Impossible etc... The movie clearly did not try to bring anything new to the action scene. Crazy and stupid plot twists (just like The Matrix/Mission Impossible/Art Of War etc...) also help make this film fail to bring any originality. Please, if you have not already seen this movie and you're going to see it, don't get your hopes and expectations too high. ( Rent Only )

Summary: If I could go lower than one star I would
Review: The only reason to watch this movie is if you are working on being insane or just want to see beautiful women act stupid. This movie is just plain terrible, nothing good can come out of it besides a decent soundtrack. Tom Green was worse than usual, and Bill Murray's agent needs to be retired. The fighting scenes were just awful. Maybe in a japanese cartoon they would be suitable. This isn't even campy fun, it would be like attending a Wham reunion concert. I don't recommend this to anybody. Why can't they make more movies like "The Sweet Hereafter", "The Shawshank Redemption", and "The Big Lebowski". Hollywood please stop with movies like these, we are smarter than this.

Summary: Tries *way* too hard
Review: This movie tries too hard to *not* take itself seriously. Obviously the TV series the movie was based on wasn't the height of cinematic perfection but was entertaining enough on a Saturday night to waste an hour. The movie spends too much time making fun of the series and not enough doing what at good movie should do which is tell a story. Some of the "in" jokes were fine but there were so many of them it was more of a distraction than funny. The action scenes tended to go over the top to the point where there wasn't even any hope of being believable. And while we are at it can we stop imitating "The Matrix" now? It's getting old.

The actresses do a good job as the Angels and Bill Murray as Bosley was a good choice. Tom Green as Drew Barrymore's boyfriend was just plain annoying.

This is a mildly entertaining movie that is worth renting if you enjoyed the series but nothing beyond that.

Summary: Please Stay Away from this Film. Spend Your Money Elsewhere.
Review: If not one of the worst movies, near one of the worst movies I paid to see in years. Luckily, I avoided tragedies like “Battlefield Earth,” but I digress. This movie demonstrates everything that is wrong with modern cinema, asides from the cell phone and the idiot next to you who insists on talking into it during the movie.

Rather, this piece of junk, and I’m being judicious, lacks all merit. It was not original. Not simply the title, concept or execution, but right down to the action and fight scenes. These scenes were a bad mixture of Mission Impossible meets Asian Martial Art films doing wire stunts.

This movie lacked any sense of theme or cohesion. One second, I’m in a disco with Cameron Diaz and next with Lucy Liu and her death muffins. And yes, I got the concept that this is meant to be a bit campy, which makes it worse! This movie keeps asking am I a big action flick or a camp film.

Summary: Charlie's Angels of 2000 was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I have to start with the fact that every man I know loved this movie for the women and their clothing in it. I happen to be a huge Drew Barrymore fan and so I never miss her movies. I loved this movie for many reasons. I think my favorite was the action scenes. I had yet to find a movie with the moves of the matrix until I saw this! I love the alley scene, I think that was my favorite! The comedy and addition of Tom Greene to the cast was hilarious! All in all, if you want to hang off the chair while laughing so hard you could wet your pants, this is the movie to watch. Great job, Angels!

Summary: In Defense of Charlie's Angels (Warning: Plot Spoiler)
Review: After reading review upon review that repeats the same thing - no plot, no substance - I'm amazed at how many people didn't seem to get this film. Maybe it helps if you're a Gen-Xer.

Very obviously, Charlie's Angels has a revenge plot. Sam Rockwell's character believes Charles Townsend was responsible for his father's death and has devised a scheme to find and kill the elusive Charlie. A basic, easy-to understand motive. Not as challenging as 2001: A Space Odyssey, but it's the same plot used by countless films including such critically and commercially lauded fluff as Batman and Beverly Hills Cop.

The "substance" here is all about the surface. Each major scene is a mini-masterpiece of set design and costuming that's referential to pop culture of the past 50 years or so. The more references you pick up on, the more you will enjoy the film. Admittedly, the fact that Charlie's Angels is so aware of itself can be frustrating when you're trying to get involved with the story but are constantly jettisoned by the silliness. If the film has a serious flaw, it's that it never adheres strongly enough to either spoof or narrative.

Anyway, the DVD is a winner. Beautiful picture quality and lots of extras, with each segment brief and lively, especially the comments about the director and the martial arts sequences. Three good deleted scenes (only one is an extended scene from the film; the other two are entirely new) and a couple of music videos. All of it high quality and of genuine interest to fans.
