Summary: Take it For What It Is!
Review: This movie, in my opinion was not a let down.

I've heard several comments on the film like 'They made the angels stupid', 'It wasn't serious enough', and 'It did not bring justice to the original T.V. Series'.
Which may be so,
but maybe it's because I wasn't a fan of the of the '70s hit or maybe it's because I wasn't expecting an Oscar winning drama! But whatever the reason may be I enjoyed this film!

Now the sequel 'Charlie's Angel's 2:Full Throttle' looks like they just want to make even MORE money off of the ever popular title.
I may still go see it when it opens in June mainly because I was a fan of the first one but I'm walking into the theatre with my large soda and buttered popcorn expecting to be disappointed.
The very fact that Bill Murray is not returning as Bosley should point this film toward trash can!

But, back to the first movie! You can say what you want to about this film but the fact is that if you take it for what it was it isn't a bad movie. And this film was simply a girl powered comedy with unrealistic (But entertaining) action sequences.

Summary: Exciting---in more ways than one!
Review: Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu & Drew Barrymore are the "next generation" of "Charlie's Angels" in which they must stop a plot to kill Charlie. Lots of "cheesecake" just like the TV show. Bill Murray is Bosley and John Forsythe returns as the voice of Charlie.

Summary: Charlie's Angles 2000
Review: When I saw the first teaser trailer for this movie, I thought it would be terrible. Then I saw the actual movie trailer. "Hmmm...this might be good after all", I thought to myself. And when I saw it in the theater, I was very pleasantly surprised indeed.

Here we have a wonderful example of what happens when a show/tv series/movie realizes that it is NOT supposed to reinvent the wheel or be mind-blowing in the intellectual department. What everyone involved in this movie does, is have fun. The entire movie is full of a wonderful enthusiasm and playful nature. From the over-the-top kung-fu action scenes to the dance dream sequence, from the slick opening shot to the upbeat end credits, this movie moves fast. And when you watch this movie on the excellent dvd (loaded with tons of extra features and featuring an EXCELLENT audio/vidio mix), you can appreciate the movie scene by scene and see just how it all came together.

Why does this movie succeeds so well? Because it knows all the tried and true musical numbers, fight scenes, and top-secret break-ins of movies past, and makes fun of them to the extrme. But more than just being a parody, but taking all the spy-movie stuff, kung-fu fighting, and girl power to it's absolute max, this movie manages to actually IMPROVE on many of the films it spoofs, resulting in something totally fresh and new. More than the sum of it's parts. And quite refreshing.

As the director said, when watching this movie it's like watching a cartoon show or flipping through a story-book. Every place has a style and color scheme all its own. You're not in the real world. You're in Angel World. And a wonderful world it is.

Summary: There were once three bea-u-tiful girls.....
Review: A rich computer genius (Sam Rockwell) - the inventor of a revolutionary new form of voice recognition technology - has been kidnapped, and somebody's responsible! Who can ya call! (cue the music). With nowhere else to turn, the genius's beautiful partner (Kelly Lynch) calls on the famed Charles Townshend Detective Agency, whose business end is managed by three beautiful, tough and resourceful ladies who once...well, we never find out what they once were, but they seemed pretty much the same beautiful, tough and resourceful types they were when they left whatever they were doing and went to work for the mysterious and never seen Mr. Townshend. (Personally, I think he may be linked to the shadowy Blake Carrington, but that's just my theory). Although each of the three is beautiful, tough and resourceful (hey, where have I heard that before?), each of the three epitomize this differently - with Alex (Lucy Liu) being the most resourceful, Dylan (Drew Barrymore) as a tomboy who can fight off a quintet of baddies while tied to a chair (in a scene that riffs on a drugged and chair-bound Schwarzeneggar's telling his captors exactly how he'll escape from his cuffs and what he'll do when he's out in "True Lies") and Natalie (Caeron Diaz) who won't let an epic judo-death match get in the way of snagging a date. Director Joseph McGinty knows that TV franchises haven't been doing that well on the screen (anybody catch "Mod Squad"?) so he turns the film into a cross between an extended music video, a parody of action movies and a barb aimed at the idea of taking TV to the big screen. (The film opens on an airplane where 1st class passengers are forced to watch "TJ Hooker, the Movie"). McGinty's strategy doesn't rest on the power brought by the stars - though it's fun watching the three go from their own solo-acts to the big team up. With plenty of matrix-style fight scenes, every battle seems to bend the laws of gravity and time. The film also works on the strength of the co-stars - Bill Murray bringing his deadpan shtick to Bosley, but also Tom Green as Dylan's semi-psychotic boyfriend, Matt LeBlanc doing his firends routine as a low-wage actor in bad movies, Crispin Glover as the psychopathically silent android-like killer who enforces for the bad guys and Rockwell as the visionary genius who gets high on Coke (as in coca-cola). Why the baddies - who seem perfectly able to fight their own battles - need Glover isn't something that will boggle the minds of viewers who will be too busy enjoying the site of Kelly Lynch and Cameron Diaz duking it out while Diaz is on the phone with her boyfriend. The plot and action are preposterous, but seldom short of enjoyable and over-the-top.

Summary: Happy time with Charlie's Angels
Review: Natalie Cook (Cameron Diaz), Dylan Sanders (Drew Barrymore), and Alex Munday (Lucy Liu) return in this 2000 rendition of the popular Charlie's Angels TV show. And as it rides in the waves with films such as 'Coyote Ugly' or even 'Legally Blonde', it's an all-around fun time, and a good movie. With the plot seemingly lost or trivial at points, you'll find yourself enjoying the movie because of the looks of the three leading ladies as well as for the action sequences. And those action sequences, although you may not think it, are actually pretty good. Grant it, it's not a James Bond movie nor is it Tom Cruise; yet you will be, to some extent, impressed.

As I said before, the plot is not that vital. But as a high-tech programmer is captured, the three girls (along with their docile boss Bosley, played by Bill Murray) set out to rescue him. The plot takes many turns in many different directions; whether it be towards comedy, action, or even romance. And as the movie moves on, you'll soon find each character being faced with "relationship" problems, so-to-speak. Lucy Liu's character finds herself having trouble hiding her identity (from Friends' star Matt LeBlanc); which is a bad take-off of those Superman movies. Drew Barrymore soon falls for the kidnapped programmer (Sam Rockwell, who played the killer in 'The Green Mile'). And Cameron Diaz's character finds something in Luke Wilson (from 'Legally Blonde' and 'Old School').

Once the film starts heading in the romance direction, you begin to lose interest. But the action brings you right back. I gave this movie only 3 stars because I was disappointed with the legitimacy of it. And some of the romantic scenes were not necessary and a bit weak. It's too much a take-off of the Bond movies, although it is still decent. And the supporting cast also features some good appearances and cameos; ranging from Tom Green to the original voice of Charlie, John Forsythe. All in all, 'Charlie's Angels' is just an average action movie, with a more 'fun' twist to it. I don't know if I'll pay to see 'Charlie's Angels 2', but this one is certainly worth your time.

Summary: Great stupid fun!!
Review: What were you all expecting, "The Godfather"? It's just great mindless fun with butt-kicking chicks and it actually has a plot! The gals look like they are having the time of their lives. Enjoy!

I just want to take the time to mention the one-and-only Crispin Glover as the Thin Man. Who knew that George McFly could move like that? Kudos to you, Crispin!

Summary: Charlies's Stooges?
Review: It's really sad that this piece of junk has been modeled after the true classic Charlie's Angels. Honestly, there's no way these 3 actresses could stand up to the true original angels.

Summary: And they're going to make a sequel...
Review: CARLIE'S ANGELS, the movie, is junk. WHen I hear tha Drew BArrymore was behind it, I knew it would be a bomb. At least, they had the decency of changing the characters names, because this movie has absolutely NOTHING in common with the TV series, except the names "Charlie" and "Bosley"!!

YOu may say that they "updated" the scenario for our time. THat's not true. THey simply used the title and concept and changed EVERYTHING, to make this a kind of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE with women. Of course the director chosen was a video-clip director, to make sure the movie hides the total lack of plot, and tries to survive only in the action sequences.

I watched it. I did not like it. Barrymore, even with tons of make-up, is not a beautiful or charismatic woman. Only Cameron Diaz saves herself here.

And they're gonna shoot a sequel... sad...
