Summary: As good as the previews!
Review: Usually, when you get the previews for a movie, they delightedly show the funniest parts of the movie. Not so, with Undercover Brother. The writing strikes an extremely fine balance of portraying the racial stereotypes of blacks and whites in a hysterical way. It is able to not only make fun of, but also make us laugh at ourselves and others without being accusatory or tasteless. This is smart comedy, much like we get in "Who's The Man?"

Summary: Much better than "Powers"
Review: Much better than the latest "Austin Powers," which was a tedious, boring ride, this movie spoofs stereotypes themselves. "Conspiracy Brother" is hilarious. I was pleasantly surprised to see him reminded that it was the Republicans who pushed to free the slaves and for civil rights, so in a way the film will even be educational for many (sadly). But that's the tone of the movie - it pokes fun at both white and black and their stereotypes of each other, and is not really mean-spirited.Speaking of which ... The DVD includes animated shorts of what I assume was the original "show." Unfortunately, they are somewhat lame. The animated version of UB is bland and unappealing (although the way his afro bobs is cute), and the cartoons are indeed a mean-spirited, bigoted, violent fantasy where whites are often brutally killed. Fantasy? Yep. There is constant whining about how blacks are being kept from succeeding in the entertainment business. Is the writer living in a fantasy world? Has he not turned on the TV lately, or gone to a Will Smith/Wesley Snipes/Morgan Freeman/Denzel W. movie? Not recommended for kids, unless they have a grip on reality. Happily, the movie avoids this trap. Eddie Griffin is the funniest when doing his kung fu stances. Chris Kataan is mostly wasted in this movie, though. Some of the humor is quite forced, but all in all it's enjoyable enough to see at least once.

Review: I went to the theatre and saw it when it first came out, and couldn't wait for it to be on DVD. I thought it was hilarious, and alot of fun. It looks like the had alot of fun making the movie. The DVD gives alot of good extra-features on it, and it is sure to entertain people with an open-mind to comedy dealing with race issues. If you liked early 70's Pam Grier, Fred Williamson, and Shaft movies, you'll get a kick outta this one!

Summary: The Brother Has Landed! Great Film, Great DVD!
Review: Fans of the B.R.O.T.H.E.R.H.O.O.D., rejoice! The Brother Has Landed, with all the funky style you could ask for, and then some. I've been a huge fan of Undercover Brother (UB) since the day it came out in theaters, and I've been waiting, with quite literally bated breath, for it to come out on DVD. I'm happy to report that the DVD is very well done, with attractive, appropriately-designed menus (read: funky colors and fonts throughout), a great selection of deleted scenes and outtakes, voice-over feature commentaries by Eddie Griffin (UB) and director Malcolm Lee, a "The Making Of UB" feature, and even includes shorts from the original Internet-based cartoon series put out by UrbanEntertainment.com, which launched the film--a very nice touch! This is definitely not one of those skimpy, so-called "collector's editions" that sometimes get pushed out for niche films like these--this DVD is large, powerful, and packed with long-lasting pleasure that will satisfy you over and over again! I'm also quite pleased that it's available in widescreen format--it would've been a shame to have to watch a brother's style get cramped by pan & scan formatting (surely another one of The Man's evil conspiracies!) So drop your guava-mango-broccoli smoothie and get your patootie on down to that "Add To Shopping Cart" button--this DVD doesn't need any hot sauce to be palatable. And remember--don't eat the mayo.

Review: what one person thinks is a funny flick another is offened by. If a movie like this was made putting white culture over black culture it would be called blacksploitation. I was thoughly disgusted.

Summary: HAHAHA!
Review: This movie is hilarious! Never a dull moment, this movie has the funniest takes on white and black stereotypes. Eddie Griffin plays a great role as a 70's blaxpoitation hero. Undercover Brother and "the brotherhood" try to stop "the man" from keeping them down but have some obstacles to get by first. Funniest part of the movie by far though is the mayonaise stereotype. I'm still laughing about it now!

Summary: "Too good for its own ... self!"
Review: Forget "Barbershop" which is a depressing, tedious, profanity-laced depiction of "life" in an urban African-American community. "Undercover Brother" is clever, funny, and really engaging. The jokes are pretty consistently funny and there are more great performances in this movie than I've seen in a long time. I really enjoyed this movie and it's one of the few I've seen lately that stands up to repeat viewing. It's all fun and well worth the money. And don't let the bad reviews by some folks put you off. "Undercover Brother" is not racist. It actually leaves you with some hope for relations between the races. I think some people just don't get the jokes. Solid!

Summary: Why are people saying, "Don't give it such harsh ratings!" ?
Review: I really would have gave it 2.4 stars but I can't. So why are people saying, "Admit it, you liked it" and "Why give it such harsh ratings?" Well let me tell you something, in the real world this movie got 1 star and 2 stars from REAL critics. So I'm just being realistic with 2.4 stars.
This movie was about a black corperation that trys to stop this person named "The man." Who is ruining the world by putting all these white and changing the black culture people in music, news, and televison. Such as Backstreet Boys, Martin Luther King Jr. The Black corperation comes across a 1970s man named "Undercover Brother (Eddie Griffin)." Who helps try and stop "The Man." The man then comes out with his secret weapon "White-She Devil." And then White she Devil falls in love with Undercover Brother. All and All Blah Blah Blah Undercover Brother comes out on top.
This movie had some laughs..and I like the name..plus just the whole look to it. But the movie wasen't at all realistic, and I like realistic comedies. So I gave it 2.4 stars. Since it's .4 it rounds down to 2 stars. This movie was...

Review: I usually love these types of movies. This movie was horrible. The whole thing was "black man" this and "black man" that. If white people made this movie it would be all over front pages talking about racial issues. It makes black people look bad. I would be ashamed of myself if I made this movie. The movie is about black men trying to run for president. Well, that's the beginning of the movie. I was so mad that I turned it off not even 30 minutes into the movie. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone. Very taste-less.
