Rating: Summary: Undercover Brother Funniest Film Since Tommy Boy Review: If you love the comedy of Chris Farley, or maybe the genius of Mel Brooks, Undercover Brother will satisfy until the end! Though not made by SNL Studios, you wouldn't doubt it if I told you it was. Chris Katan is absolutely off the wall in this film, one of the best roles I've seen him in. If you liked his hilarious style in Night at the Roxbury, you'll definatly enjoy his charisma in Undercover Brother. Eddie Griffin makes the movie come to comedic life from the start. He absolutely has enough soul for the role! The movie is fun thoughout and dosen't have to fall to low levels to get you to laugh! It is a clean, fun, 70s-funk film that will leave you sore from laughing!
Rating: Summary: A surprisingly good movie... Review: I put off seeing this movie for a good year...I mean I just didn't have any desire to see it. Boy was I missin out. The movie isn't exactly as funny as most say it is but it is still a good movie to chill out to when you got some friends over. Nice laid back joint that doesn't take itself too seriously and you shouldn't take it seriously either. Eddie Griffin, Dave Chappelle, the one known as Smart Brother (dont know his name), and White She-Devil ( don't know hers either), all put in good performances. Sly humor and lighthearted fun coupled with a jammin soundtrack make this movie worth seeing.
Rating: Summary: lighten up people Review: for all of you people saying this is a racist movie, lighten up, it's all about making fun of the stereotypes whites have against blacks and vice versa, sure it was immature humor most of the time, but what the hell is matur humor anyway, this is the single funniest movie i've ever seen
Rating: Summary: A huge waste of time Review: For those of you who have likened this piece of ... movie to Austin Powers, think again. In the first place, this is a blatent spoof of AP, the differences being only the largely black cast and the fact that this movie isn't funny. Doing a spoof of a spoof is a rediculous idea and should never be attempted. Not only is this movie not funny, but it is unoriginal, written poorly and a complete waste of time. Avoid this movie at all costs.
Rating: Summary: A fun movie with an awesome soundtrack Review: "Undercover Brother" to me, was like a Black Austin Powers..It had that same brand of humor, and like AP, was a spoof film. I laughed a lot in this movie, and many of the comedies from 2002 didn't even make me crack a smile. This was fun, and I love the soundtrack!! Great 70's music here! "Play that funky music", "Jungle boogie", "car wash"(stick around at the end for this one), "Brickhouse"....just to name a few. I recommend this for a rental. It had some good laughs, and I had a good time watching it and listening to that funky music.
Rating: Summary: It was Aight in spots Review: while this Film Wasn't a Knock out all the way it had some moments&Eddie Griffin was Cool in spots. He had Two Hot Foxy Mamma's by His Side so that Helped Matters out.this Film Spoofed "Charlie's Angels"&"Austin Powers" but it did it in a Cool Way to Me.I give this Film about a 2.5 for some trip out scenes&things.cool that Billy Dee Williams got in on the Film as well.
Rating: Summary: outstanding Review: this was one of the most comedy movies I have ever seen
Rating: Summary: This Movie Is Really Bad Review: The title says it all...this movie stinks....I am a huge fan of "blaxploitation" movies and I thought by renting this movie that it would give me a few laughs....boy was I wrong....this movie did not even make me laugh once.....this is just a really bad [spin off] of the "Austin Powers" genre of movies, and misses the mark on all accounts...the script is bad, the sets are bad...everything is just bad....the only thing remotly good about this film is the cool 70's funky soundtrack...if your thinking of buying this ... don't....if your thinking of renting this...don't...wait for it to come on TBS or something....run ...from "Undercover Brother"!!
Rating: Summary: Shaft meets his Alter Ego! Review: DOUBLE 07 has his alter ego Austin Powers now Shaft has his in Undercover Brother! WARNING! If you are a small minded person who believes in and wants to keep the old stereotypes alive then this movie isn't for you! If you are anal retentive and stuck in the 50's DO NOT see this movie as you may bust a gut or something worse! But, if you are broad minded and understanding enough to see that this movie is ridiculing the very stereo types themselves ON BOTH SIDES then you will love this movie! If you fall into the first category GET OVER IT! Was this movie made for any particular race or gender? NO! Like MJ says: it doesn't matter if you're black or white. (Make up your own jokes on that one) This is the funniest and most brilliant comedy I have seen in years! It's an instant classic almost destined for a sequel. I love the Austin Powers flicks especially the second one but this one beats the entire trio put together! Still, there was much more press coverage for the Powers flicks. Hmm, is this another evil plot by "THE MAN"? The writing, editing and timing of this film is impeccable as there is not one dead spot in the entire movie! It all fits together seamlessly and flawlessly to perfection. As the kids today say, the film is "TIGHT"! Every one of the characters is integrated into the movie with just the right balance. This movie is performed and acted extremely well as a team. With appearances from Billy Dee Williams and James Brown the biggest thing missing was an appearance from the God father of Funk himself, George Clinton. This was very curious indeed as the movie borrowed heavily from his themes and lingo. Forget all the dumb stuff though and check the racial issues at the door! Let your guard down for this one and just enjoy the movie! Go ahead and laugh guilt free. Don't hold back you'll live longer! THIS FILM HAS BEEN RATED "H". FOR HILARIOUS! (Even without the chocolate fudge! - Alt. ending, A MUST SEE! DVD)I give this film TWO FISTS WAY UP!!!
Rating: Summary: Movie only adds to our problems Review: After watching the trailer to Undercover Brother, I decided to give the film a go. I can honestly say I waisted an hour and a few minutes of my life. This movie is racism at its finest. If you consider yourself an advocate for racism, then I suggest you check this movie out.
