Summary: Hilarious
Review: If you need an antidote to the lurching numbness of Attack of the Clones, you can wash yourself clean in just 89 minutes with Undercover Brother, easily the funniest major studio comedy since the original Austin Powers.

Gleefully stupid and lovingly so, Undercover Brother spoofs the blaxploitation genre the way I'm Gonna Git You Sucka should have, but didn't. Taking shots at everybody and everything in sight in order to get a laugh (sensitive types need not apply), Undercover Brother makes comedy look easy. Eddie Griffin reigns in his shrillness to play our super smooth hero, and Dave Chappelle is finally given the chance to make mainstream audiences laugh. Bit players like Chi McBride, Doogie Howser himself (Neil Patrick Harris), Billie Dee Williams (whom the new Star Wars trilogy could have used), and even Denise Richards (sorry, she isn't naked) all contribute, and the 70's homage touches by Malcolm Lee help the film rise above standard parodies.

Not much else to say. It's a funny, funny movie. Everything a big summer comedy should be.

Summary: For once, a funny movie that doesn't gross you out
Review: This movie is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The comedy is racial, but not the kind that would make a black/white person get angry, it just makes you laugh. There is one scene of very fake looking gore but it is not that bad. Not only is this movie's comedy not stupid, it's actually smart. I was laughing uncontrollably this entire movie, from things like "Conspiracy brother", a guy who is paranoid and thinks your supporting the whites from whatever you say, or even when Undercover brother kicks a bad guy so hard in the but, that his foot goes, "right up the pooper". I got one word, hilarious. And remember, If you mess with the 'fro, you got to go.

Summary: Undecover Brother is Hilarious
Review: An extremely funny film about a secret African-American Agency called the B.R.O.T.H.E.R.H.O.O.D , who want the stop the Man and Mr. Feather (Chris Kattan) from making a general stop running for President and start a Fried Chicken and Malt Liquour fast food resteraunt. So the B.R.O.T.H.E.R.H.O.O.D sends their best agent Undercover Brother (Eddie Griffin) , a.k.a Anton Jackson.

Summary: Gravely Disappointed
Review: Initially excited about seeing "Undercover Brother" because I enjoy Eddie Griffin, and his humor, as well as the humor of the other cast members, I was quickly disappointed. I did not appreciate the storyline, and focal point of this movie. I thought the plot was "poor form", as it really touched upon some sensitive topics in the African American community.

What I found interesting is that most of the African Americans that were in the audience found no humor in "U B", while many European Americans could not stop laughing. From the onset of the movie I was insulted, and every scene brought more insult to injury.

Eddie Griffin is a great comedian and actor, as are Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Houser), Chi McBride (Boston Public), David Chappelle and Billy Dee Williams. Unfortunately, I don't believe this movie was conscientious about the matters that it attempted to make light of, and how all members of the African American community would receive its puns. Not a funny movie, I expected more from such a great cast.

Summary: Racism at it's Funniest
Review: I loved this movie,. and I'm black.. and my friend who saw it with me is White. I feltmaybe it would make him uncomfy but none of the jokes were evil or meant to start anything. It was just jokes about who we are as people.
Eddie Griffin's slapstick and the movies take on the 70's genre as well as Chris Kattan's dance moves was beyond words for funny.
This movie is stupid funny* grade school humor with edge* . I would say that this is the kind of movie that gets even funnier with your high or tipsy because it assumes you on a simple level of haha black man walking funny .. or ohh god only white people watch friends :)

so see it.. then go to urbanenterainment to see the web series that spawned the movie :)

Summary: Disgusting...
Review: A disgusting AUSTIN POWERS wannabe. Supposed to be a spoof on the black-ploitation films of the 70s, but really exploits an entire race even more...the only reason I managed to enjoy an awful film a little was because of the cheesy fight scenes. I think most people will know not to take this movie seriously. Unfortunately, it did not stick to the race issue...it had to start degrading women too.

Summary: Could've been brilliant except...
Review: it milks every joke for all it's worth until it's rendered unfunny. Wow, white people like mayonnaise, black people like hot sauce. This joke is so overused as to induce yawning. The problem with Undercover Brother is that the few moments of "well, this is better than your typical slapstick/urban comedy" are overshadowed by lame jokes repeated over and over. Some funny observations are hammered to death. It seems as if the filmmakers had a few good ideas but couldn't expand on them.
I like how there literally is "The Man", who wants to keep black people down by introducing a new fried chicken franchise. However, this potentially hilarious plot is ruined by way obvious race jokes (the white girl likes Michael Bolton) and just general laziness (and the appearance of Chris Kattan). The one scene at which I laughed out loud (a Clockwork Orange-esque scene where Undercover Brother views clips of white culture) seems like it should be in a much funnier, and not-tampered-with-by-lazy-Hollywood comedy where the writers don't take every lazy shortcut in the book. It's supposed to be real edgy and witty but it seems so false, someone had one good idea and rather make a good movie they chose (or were forced) to make something entriely conventional. I know, the jokes matter more than the plot but they're often too obvious, too lame, or repeated too many times. Could've been a good comedy, but lazy Hollywood rears its head again.

Summary: It started slow but then got hilarious
Review: Undercover Brother:

Eddie Griffin stars in this funny, often hilarious, send-up of the '70s era "Blaxploitation" movies. Here he plays the Robin Hood of the Ghetto recruited by the B.R.O.T.H.E.R.Hood in their battle against, The Man. It appears that, yes, there is one person leading the never-ending battle to keep the Black Man down. His latest plot involves brainwashing a retiring General, played by Billy Dee Williams, and keeping him from running for president. Undercover Brother joins Sistah Girl, Smart Brother, Conspiracy Brother, and the White Boy in this battle against The Man and his minions, The White She-Devil and Mr. Feather.
Griffin is great in this role. He obviously has a reverence for that bygone era of the '70s and his parody is dead on for many of the movies that were hits then. His love of Jim Kelly will be a hoot for fans of Enter the Dragon and other great movies like Black Belt Jones. Jokes fly throughout this movie with many site gags. Some do fall flat but others take hold and leave you shaking with laughter. This is definitely one to listen closely to as many jokes are laced underneath the dialogue of other conversations and are even funnier than the main joke.
You will need to give this movie some time though. Most people aren't going to find the opening jokes as hilarious as others. However about halfway into the movie things really begin to come together and everyone will probably end up laughing.

Summary: Good comedies like this don't happen very often...
Review: ...Most of the time, the type of comedies we get are teen comedies that pretty much only focus on sexual topics. Not my cup of tea. It's just not funny.

But here, we have a brilliantly funny comedy about a black man mentally stuck in the 70s who's out their protecting racial equality. We also have "The Brotherhood," a secret organization doing the same thing, consisting of mostly blacks. But they stress the message that you just have to be "down" to be in the brotherhood, and you don't have to be black. At first, it seems like only blacks are welcome. But then they realize that working as an equal team is how the job should really be done, regardless of one's race. So this movie has a good message, despite all the racial jokes.

But enough of that. This movie is hilarious! The jokes they make about both black culture and white culture kept me laughing all the way through. You can't take it too seriously. If you do, getting offended will come with the territory for you, and that's not what this movie is about. What goes through my head when the jokes are cracked is, "That's exactly how it is!" And I'm a white guy.

Sure, a lot of the jokes are ones that have been used before. But the WAY they're used in this movie and the creativity behind it all is what made me laugh.

So if you don't get offended easily by culture jokes, and you're in the mood to laugh a lot, this movie is for you.

The DVD has good picture and sound for the movie. It even has 5.1 DTS. This DVD also has a good amount of special features that'll keep you occupied as well, including deleted scenes, outtakes, an alternate ending, a behind the scenes look at the movie, a few original cartoons of Undercover Brother that the movie was based on, etc. - most of which kept me entertained.

Great movie, great DVD!
