Summary: Fabulously funny
Review: This version of the legend of Zorro is a lot lighter than usual but very entertaining. Our real hero, Zorro, is put out of commission by an accident that occurs during a romantic interlude with a married woman. To help the people of his small town from the oppressive government, however, Zorro must continue! And, it would also help to save our hero's butt! So in comes our newest saviour! He does it all wearing puce, lemon yellow and a lot of fringes. And don't forget the helpful servant Paco who happens to be mute and a bit of a mime - or our beautiful lady who falls for Zorro (the straight one, thankfully).

It all makes for a wonderful movie. Part comedy of errors, part intellectual comedy, this film is just funny. A definite must for every member of your family!

Summary: Hysterical
Review: This light hearted tale is hysterically funny. No matter how many times I watch it, I laugh all the way through it!

Summary: A Comedy Gem
Review: This is one of my all time favorite spoofs. Hamilton is superb as Don Diego/Zorro. But Leibman cracks me up with his "AHA! Two fruits, one vegetable, one flower" speech. His high, almost soprano- like voice is hilarious.

Own it and watch it over and over again.

Summary: New "perspective" on Zorro !
Review: This is not a movie that is well known by the general public. But I consider it one of the "classical" comedy movies as a spoof on the legend of Zorro. George Hamilton does a great part playing both the dashing & romantic "Diego de la Vega" and also playing his half-brother who brings "a lot of color" as the "gay blade"!

If you want to see Zorro from another perspective and have a few laughs I recommend this one.

Summary: Farce At Its Finest
Review: A mono soundtrack? That's the best they could do?

In 1981, the creative team of Hal Dresner, Greg Alt, Don Moriarty, and Bob Randall got together and penned one of greatest cinema farces of that decade (and, arguably, ANY decade) when they brought ZORRO, THE GAY BLADE to the silver screen in its laughable glory.

But ... the DVD sports only a mono soundtrack?

George Hamilton sports double duty here as Don Diego Vega -- the overconfident heir to the Zorro mask -- and Bunny Wigglesworth, his twin brother who's ... well ... not that there's anything wrong with it ... just a bit ... er ... different. After breaking his foot while celebrating Zorro's return, Diego turns over the role of playing Zorro to Bunny ... and the fun begins!

A mono soundtrack?!?!

The zany comedy also stars the beautiful Lauren Hutton, Brenda Vaccaro, and Ron Liebman.

Did I mention it only had a MONO SOUNDTRACK?!?!

Summary: Tops for Parodies!
Review: As far as Comedies go, this one takes the cake. Years after not being able to view it (due to it not being available on dvd in a dvd only household) my family is *still* quoting the movie. It is so funny you won't be able to forget it! When we found out it was on dvd, we HAD to buy it. If you love comedies, you will love this movie...

Summary: Everything I Expected!
Review: I'd been looking for quite some time. When I found it, I couldn't believe I could get it so inexpensively. George Hamilton does a marvelous bit of acting on both ends!

Summary: It's Just Plain Funny, Period.
Review: To some of you that take historical stuff too seriously, and are homophobic, this movie will probably offend you. But as someone who hated history all through school---except any movie or series (Thanks, Walt)with the Title Zorro, you will always have my rapt attention.

I would like to add that I have never seen George Hamilton in anything I liked----except this movie, and except for this movie, I don't think the guy can act. But this movie was funny as hell.

Like two of the previous reviewers, I too have seen this movie several times. Like.....a few other films, I have to hurry up and buy it, or not see it anymore, since the video store is very shortly taking it out of their inventory.

There is no way this movie can offend a thinking person. There is no perversion in this movie of any kind, and I've seen family films that offended me more than this one. I don't see how this could offend.

In the event that some of you think I might be a lightweight, I would like to add that I also saw the mask of Zorro, and was equally entertained. Historical fiction isn't usually my thing. But I not only saw the mask of zorro, it was also in the first group of Videos I bought when I joined a video club.

Summary: Are you kidding?
Review: This is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. The camera work is exceptional!
My sister and I had seen this movie so many times that we had the dialog memorized front and back.
It's hilarious!
