Summary: Da Blues Brothas - You Can't Pass this One Up!
Review: For anyone who appreciates music of any form, wheather it is blues, jazz, country, soul, rock, or even polka, this movie is for them. The colorful story, wonderful charachters, endless cameos, and the musical culture presented in this film make it forever a shining star in American culture. I personally admire the charchters in this film to the point that I attempt to model my personal behaviors after them...With the exception of the destruction of property tendency.

Summary: What can i say? this is a greatest movie on earth!
Review: This is a historical music movie. I think the best the was made. Anybody that like the music must see (and hear)this film on DVD. This movie is so perfekt made - unbelivevible.

Summary: Classic Film - Flawed DVD
Review: There is no need to restate the obvious, this is a classic five star film. The re-edit, however, draws only four. Most of the additional footage appears to be an effort to better explain certain scenes. What in this movie needs clarification? Its a comedy! The scene of Elwood quitting his job (none of which was included in the theatrical release) seems entirely out of place. What is Elwood doing working in a factory? it neither makes sense, nor does it build his character. Jake and Elwood are mythical beings and shouldn't be dragged down into our common reality.

This isn't the first Belushi DVD to suffer from improvement. 1941 has some similarly stupid/useless material added in the DVD version. To date, the only "director's cut" I consider an improvement is Blade Runner. Message to Hollywood. If the original movie has a big following, DON'T SCREW WITH IT! If you must meddle, choose the movies nobody cares about. They're the ones in need of help.

Summary: John Belushi, we'll miss you!
Review: Original members of the "Not-ready-for-prime-time-players" from TV's "Saturday Night Live" Dan Ackroyd and the late John Belushi bring the Blues Brothers (characters they created on the show) to the big screen. This movie, shot entirely on location in and around Chicago, is very funny and entertaining. Nonstop comedy combined with fine musical performances by Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and Cab Calloway provide about two hours worth of excellent entertainment to all who watch this video. This is one video that will be cherished by all fans of the late John Belushi.

Summary: Music, mayhem, and three Orange Whips!
Review: It honestly does not get any better than this. The music is incredible - it will have you tapping your toes and shaking your tail feathers. James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and Cab Calloway are reason enough to watch, but supporting cast members like Carrie Fischer, John Candy, Henry Gibson (I hate Illinois Nazis! ), and a cameo by John Landis add to the chaos that IS the blues. John and Dan were on top of their game here and we get the full effect of their comedic and musical talents. If you have never seen this movie, PLEASE take the time and enjoy a little slice of pop culture - if you have seen it, watch again and crank up the stereo! The Blues Brothers singing the theme song from "Rawhide" is worth the price of admission alone!

Summary: Humor and music galore
Review: A movie as good as it can get in its genre. A hairpin from 5 stars. But its a unique movie.

The music is incredible and really tells the whole story. Apart from the music, hillarious fun sparks it up, and makes this movie an all 'get happy and in the mood' experience.

Summary: One of a few films that are laugh out loud funny
Review: Finally, a comedy my conservative mother and I can enjoy! Mymom actually introduced to this movie (the TV edited version). I lovedit for it ridiculousness. It just kept throwing in jokes to see if they worked and most of them did. All the cameos were fun and it was great to see some of the blues greats (especially ones like Cab Calloway whom we haven't seen in a long time). That church scene has me cracking up even thinking about it because a) it is so overblown and b) because there are some churches not too far off from that. Of course, I like it 'cause it was filmed in my town- Chitown. My brothers got to see the filming of the car drop. Definitely add to your comdedy library.

Summary: This is the best B.B. movie I'll ever see !!!!
Review: Spread the news and rythems world wide!!!!!!! The BluesBrothers are the greatest comedy/musical duo in the history of the movie/music industry. But,I have a problem looking for the director's- cut, version on DVD.Can someone help me locate it?? Also BB2000 was OK I guess, but I'am a true fan. I'm willing to take the good with the bad.

Summary: Wow! What I missed with the VHS tape!
Review: The added sequences ... the excellent soundtrack ... the Dolby - I missed it all.

One of my all-time favourite movies got better, and this makes it worth watching all over again.

Reading the notes with the DVD it is sad to learn that a great deal of other material was destroyed by the studio - including another number at Bob's Country Bunker.

The soundtrack of the version I bought - European - has reworked musical numbers, which when played back in Dolby 5.1 are absolutely incredible ... just wind up the volume and enjoy!
