Rating: Summary: a very lame sequel Review: The problem with "Scary Movie 2," aside from the fact that it skimps on the promise of the first film ('no shame/mercy/sequel'), is that the targets for parody are movies like "Hollow Man" and "The Haunting," which are pretty lame in themselves. Much of the humor is forced, let's-do-something-stupid-for-the-sake-of-doing-something-stupid... and a lot of it feels stale (right down to the exaggerated male ejaculation, the wheelchair guy giving himself a b.j., etc.). For added irritation, we have Chris Elliott as a hunchback, Riffraff-esque butler whose labored accent gets annoying real quick. There are only two moments that shine in "Scary Movie 2": James Woods' portrayal of an (un)orthodox priest who performs an exorcism in the opening scene, and the appearance of Beetlejuice (a frequent guest on Howard Stern) in a parody of "Hannibal." Other than that, this sequel is a shameless lost cause, a desperate attempt to capitalize on the success of its predecessor. Here's hoping "Scary Movie 3" will never surface.
Rating: Summary: Why not Review: I guess this is one of those movies that either gets a very high or low rating. For this one, I'm splitting it down the middle. I think SM2 was about equal to the 1st Scary Movie. The movie actually showed depth this time around with the script (compared to Scary Movie 1). In SM1, I found myself listening to identical lines from Scream movies far too much. The heart of this movie relied on 3 things in my mind: An outstanding intro (which, unfortunately, got you hyped up for little reason), Chris Elliot (who was the hilarious caretaker) and the Nike Basketball spoof. I think for those reasons alone, this movie was worth the viewing. However, despite a nice "Titanic" spoof and a few other minor laughs, this movie fell short. About 80% of the movie consisted of blatantly stupid jokes that nobody laughed at. But all and all, this movie was worth my hour and a half. It successfully dissed far more movies than it's prequel, and you didn't have to see the movies they made fun of to laugh (like, SM1).
Rating: Summary: Terrific! Review: This is very funny, and I don't know why people say it is that bad. It is much funnier that the first. [True it does use some of the same content/jokes, but they are used in different situations in the film, so please, your gonna have to come up with a better excuse than that for hating the film.] The film this time had me laughing so hard, whether it was the parrot, the quirky house keeper, or the main characters themselves, you are in for a great ride. Go to the theater/buy the DVD to see this film. (THIS TEXT ALSO REFERS TO THE DVD EDITION WHEN IT IS RELEASED!)
Rating: Summary: SOOOO ...FUNNY Review: yo Scary Movie 2 was ... hilarious. everybody who liked the first one, should see the second, even though the first one is better....but still. the spoofs are so funny. and i dont know, what you people are talkin about with this "No Shame. No Mercy. No Sequels." THE 'NO' BEFORE THE 'SEQUELS' WAS CROSSED OUT! whoever gave this movie a bad review....dont listen to them. if you have a good sense of humor and can take jokes and laugh at them, you will have a great time seein this move!
Rating: Summary: Even Funnier Than the first! Review: Ok This movie is halarious. If you liked the first scary movie or Even if you didn't I still recommend going to see this. Once again the Wayans brothers are back putting a lot of scary movies into their place. They cut on pretty much everything they left off of the first. Just a few of these movies are : The Exercist, Hannibal, Hollow Man. Another extremely aspect to this movie is that all other genres of movies thought they were safe, and that Scary movie cannot make fun of us. Well think again film directors because several other movies were cut on. Go See this movie It is well worth it in laughs.
Rating: Summary: It's not entertainment, it's a punishment Review: I laughed a total of 3 times during the movie, and they were all non-consecutive. About a third of the way through, I almost walked out of the theatre. Folks, I have seen about 200 movies in the theatre and have not walked out ONCE. This movie is not only an insult to me, but an insult to the intelligence of every human being on this planet. Recycled jokes, more cursing than a high school hallway, and pictures of things so revolting...and don't want to talk about. Go and rent the ORIGINAL movie for some great laughs. DO NOT GO TO THIS MOVIE OR YOU WILL HAVE ENTERED THE BOWELS OF HELL!!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely horrible attempt at a funny movie Review: When I read the reviews of "Scary Movie 2" I wonder..... DID THESE PEOPLE SEE THE SAME MOVIE I DID????? This movie was so not funny. The jokes all had to do with bodily functions, sex, and very tasteless other things. I guess that in order to make a few teens laugh, the only thing you have to do in a movie is make vomit, farts, and bowel movements the center of your story. I did not laugh for most of this movie. I will admit that there were some funny parts, but not very many. I was a very big fan of the first Scary Movie and had high hopes that this one could be as fresh and funny as the original. Apparently the best that the Wayans brothers could do was to use some of the same sight jokes as before (yes I will spoil it and say that Cindy does get splashed to a wall again with the "fluids of love") Unfortunately this was already used in the first Scary Movie and was not necessary for the next one. Is this to be a Scary Movie trademark such as Arnold's "I'll be back" line was for most of his movies? Let's hope that Dimension Films will realize that the Wayans brothers have pumped their wells dry and have no more funny things to say. Let's put the money into more creative and original funny movies. Not ... like this.
Rating: Summary: Wait For The DVD! Review: I went and seen this movie the Friday after the 4th, and let me say this movie was a major disappointment. The opening scene was SUPERB! I thought it was funnier than all of Scary Movie part 1. It goes to hell from then on. There is NO plot whatsoever. The jokes are ok, but they could be a LOT better. You will get a few good laughs (except for The Haunting, Dude Where's My Car?, Charlies Angels, and Haunting of Hell House spoofs),which makes up 75% of the movie. They cut the spoof of "wilson" which coulda helped. I also heard it will have 40+ minutes of deleted scenes, and that might help it out a little. You will love the spoof of The Exorcist and Hollow Man. They're hilarious, otherwise, its a dud. Avoid this movie in theaters, and just RENT the DVD...DONT BUY! You WILL still be disappointed. But keep one thing in mind - DONT COMPARE IT TO THE FIRST SCARY MOVIE or I GUARANTEE you will be disappointed. And they say a making of a 3rd? NO WAY! The 2nd only made 20 some million, for a 5 day release, and premiered at number 2 on the top 10 movies of the week, they're not going to risk loosing millions just for the fans, who didnt see it. IF YOU FANS WANT A 3RD WATCH THE 2ND - YOU WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND REAL QUICK!
Rating: Summary: A little RUSHED! Review: Though I absolutely LOVE the first scary movie for some inside joke reasons, the 2nd one was obviously RUSHED. More time could have been spent on this movie and things were just thrown together. Unlike the first one with a plot, this hardly had one. I didn't hate this one, but the first one will ALWAYS be a favorite. "OUTTA MAH FACE, OUTTA MAH FACE"
Rating: Summary: what do you expect Review: well the first one was bad and the second one was not much better. seeing it in the theater does help the movie though, with the atmosphere of the crowd and everything. wrong on so many levels but you'll find yourself laughing trust me. the overall story is based on the haunting and that movie wasnt great either. so what do you get when you cross a bad movie with an even worst one, funny things. go see it but you'll be more stupid afterwards.
