Rating: Summary: My Favorite Movie Review: My Blue Heaven is the best movie I have ever seen. Rick Moranis and Steve Martin are a great team. Very funny movie. You should watch it right away.
Rating: Summary: Junk Review: Nora Ephron's screenplay for WHEN HARRY MET SALLY was so brilliant, and I'm a big Steve Martin fan, that I really looked forward to seeing this film. But it is so bad it's unbelievable. I think I laughed once through the entire film.
Rating: Summary: A Liftoff In the 90s For 3 Great Actors Review: "My Blue Heaven" is an undying comedy that places three completely different and contradicting personalities together for a good comic make-up. Steve Martin is very good, but a little stereotipical of the average New York Mafia man, who enters the witness protection program and gets pulled from his fast-paced life in the big city...to a sleepy small suburban town. He comes under the protection of an FBI agent played by Rick Moranis, who struggles throughout the movie to keep Martin from breaking the law as he is so used to doing. Joan Cusack is the town's A.D.A. Hannah Stubbs, who gets frustrated trying to detain the town's new mob-man everytime he commits a petty crime...but is always thwarted by Moranis who wont give'em up. Joan and Rick Moranis find love in eachother, differences aside, but the ever troublemaking 'Vinnie' can't seem to stop getting in the way. Three great actors are just what a script like this needs to make it work, and it does. Joan gives an overall fabulous performance, I havent talked to somebody yet who doesnt like the scene where she puts her personal problems aside and has a dance on the beach. The kiss scene between she and Moranis works well, I think the close up on Joan's face there is one of the prettiest Ive seen of her. Trust me, if you've read some of my other reviews, Im trying to state the quality of good movies that often get passed up without a thought, this is worth watching more than once.
Rating: Summary: How to make a very funny movie Review: Hello,Intentional or not, this simple tale of classic proportions is the work of comic genius. Its a non-stop roller coaster of classic Steve Martin, with the very capable straight man role played by the very talented Mr. Moran. The scripts fabulous and the executions a dream. If you think Steve Martins funny, but you've never seen this one, then get it, for me it's his most funniest. Frankly, I could talk about this film all day, and then do it again tommorrow, but that would just spoil some of the fun. Regards, Martyn R Jones
Rating: Summary: Steve Martin's with bad hair, Joan Cusack shreds a turtle Review: Yup, this movie is pretty dated but come on, it was 1990, the last official year of the 80s. This seems more like something that would come out today with all these lame gangster comedys but back in the 80s the idea of a mafia comedy was unthinkable. The hair, clothes, everything is terribley cheesy, in a very 80s way. From the obligatory mamba dance scene (every movie made from 1987 to 1990 was required by law to have one) to the horrible shiney suits with 80s shoulder pads this movie REEKS of the 80s! Oh, yeah, the movie itself is ok too, would have worked better if it were more dark and I don't know, maybe rated R. But no matter how hard I tried to hate this movie I couldn't say I didn't enjoy it. Pretty good script and some good acting, all around a solid production, I have no idea why this movie lasted so long for all these years. Will never make your top 60 list but you must say you've got to see this film atleast every 8 years. Just one of those things. Oh yeah, I can't say enough how revoltingly awful Steve Martin's hair is! Its just, GAG! His hair sets the tone for the rest of the film! 80s!
Rating: Summary: I'M WITCH YOU..... Review: How can anybody ever write a bad review about this flick. Endless laughs I certainly like watchin this movie. Steve Martin is great and so is Morris. I wish they would make a sequel of the film, they work great together. Martin steals everything in the movie and I really do mean steals, very slick guy who you would try to imatate if your going somewhere especially the supermarket! This film is defintly one that take your mind off things and make ya feel better.
Rating: Summary: PLUS, no bicycle... Review: My Blue Heaven is the best movie ever created in the history of the universe! I mean, how can you turn down a movie with Steve Martin saying "I haven't had arugala in six weeks!" or "The shoes, right? The shoes are TRAGIC!" It is a work of art! There are countless memorable lines and the characters are well depicted and developed. Buy it NOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
Rating: Summary: My Blue Hell Review: They say that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. Well, I can say, "this is a really great movie, like I'm sure!", sound in the knowledge that there is, indeed, a lower form of wit. I sincerely believe that "Schindler's List" is more likely to raise a laugh and can only hope that "Customers who bought this video also bought:" A home labotamy kit. Preserve your intellectual integrity and look elsewhere for laughs.
Rating: Summary: Eat your vedga-ta-bulls! Review: Steve Martin gives a great performance as Vinny, the Italian hood from NYC. His accent is to a T, his food tastes are superb (you gotta see the supermarket scene!) Rick Moranis is funny in his role, but this is Martin's film. A very lovable guy even though he's a gangster. Classy, flashy, very very funny! Fughettaboutit! Great movie!
Rating: Summary: Funny! Review: I love this movie. Can't say that enough. Rick Moranis as a federal agent is still and lovable. Steve Martin as a fast talking ganster will make your side hurt from laughing. What makes this movie great though is that the whole family can see it. The price makes it a must have for the home collection.
