Rating: Summary: Pure hurting for Joel and the Bots! Review:
For our MST3K pals Joel with Crow and Tom, Dr. Forrestor gives Joel the worst movie him and his pals has ever seen before. A smelly wretched piece of garbage called " Manos, Hands of Fate" which is a very " Hills Have Eyes"/ " House of 1000 Corpses"-esque flick about a family who stumbles into a house occupied by occulists.
I wonder if the MST3K had the displeasure of watching one of the worst movies ever! But it's alot of fun only with the MST3K making fun of it with even if it has to hurt them badly.
The DVD here also includes a "Poopie" Reel which shows bloopers.
Rating: Summary: "But who can afford Lancome makeup?" Review: "Manos: the Hands of Fate." Holy crap, this isn't a "B" movie. It isn't a "C" movie. It's a "Y" movie, as in "Y" do negatives still exist? This absolutely has to be the worst movie Joel or Mike and the Bots on the Satellite of Love have ever taken on at the hands of the relentlessly evil (or is he?) Dr. Forrester and Frank. Before I was an MSTie, I thought "Bride of Chucky" was the worst movie ever made. Merciful God, was I ever wrong. "Manos: the Hands of Fate" makes "Bride of Chucky" look like "Citizen Kane," which makes it ideal MST3K fodder.
Why is this movie so bad? Mainly because it takes itself seriously. When I was in college, my friends and I made a 14 minute movie that was better made than this. The acting, sets, direction, editing, dubbing, and everything else are the worst anyone has ever conceptualized. "The Brain that Wouldn't Die" and "This Island Earth" (a.k.a., "The Movie") are screen gems compared with this. Joel, Tom Servo, and Crow can barely speak during a midway break. Somehow they manage to pull it together to make joke after hilarious joke about this unbelievably WRONG act of cinematic travesty.
You'll never be the same once you watch this one, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone besides veteran MSTies. If this show is truly your sense of humor's calling for a fulfilled life, this is an essential episode. Actually, I might also recommend this one to film students, just so you'll know that no matter what you do, no matter how bad any of your projects turn out, you can say with confidence, "Hey, it's not as bad as 'Manos: the Hands of Fate'." Nothing is. I applaud you, Joel, Tom Servo, and Crow, for surviving this "AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGH!" for our enjoyment. "PULL my finger!"
