Review: SPACEBALLS whether you like it or not is going to be a classic comedy, a cult classic at the very least. Jokes come almost one after another, almost all of them are funny and it's a fun movie to boot. Many science fiction movies (Star Wars for the most part,) get the treatment in this wacky story about how the pintsized Darth Vader esque Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis with ridiculously oversized helmet and plastic tie) leads his enormous ship Spaceball 1 (a sign on the back says WE BREAK FOR NOBODY) and President Skroob's Spaceball empire on a quest to steal neighboring planet Druidia's air supply by kidnapping Druish Princess Vespa. The King of Druidia hires Spacebum LoneStar and his Sidekick Barf (a Mog, half man half dog) to rescue her from the evil Spaceball clutches. Lots of comic events follow; the Spaceballs watching a copy of the movie on VHS to learn where Lonestar is, Spaceball troopers capturing not our heroes but instead they're stunt doubles and a great confrontation between Dark Helmet and Lonestar where we learn that evil will always triumph all because good is dumb. Don't think I've ruined anything because there is plenty more where that came from. Truly fun and funny, oh and one last thing: may the Scwartz be with you

Review: It had been years since I'd seen the film and I didn't remember it being very good... but for 8 bucks I figured I'd give it another chance. Should have trusted my memory... Mel Brooks really bottomed out after he stopped working with Gene Wilder (and ditto for Wilder, but that's another story). The jokes are limp as a wet noodle, the comic timing is terrible. I did not laugh ONCE. That's a total of ZERO laughs for those of you keeping score at home. The commentary track is also painfully boring as Brooks continuously explains the obvious and pats himself on the back...

Review: If you have seen any of mel brooks movies.This one takes the cake.Mel Brooks,John Candy, and Bill Pulman star in this hilarious spoof of the Star Wars Trilogy.I laughed so hard,I checked my pulse to see if I was alive.Iwould recomend this movie to anyone who wants a good laugh.

Review: This time Brooks is spoofing Sci-fi films.Some of the jokes are really cheesy but all in all this is a good collection of jokes and sight gags.With the comic talents of stars such as Rick Moranis,John Candy,Joan Rivers and others.Some consider this film to be the start of Brooks downfall but I consider it as one of his best.

Summary: Prepare to fast foward!
Review: Mel Brook's hit comedy gold with this film, released in the 80s and spoofing star wars. The cast is terrific,and the special effects are actually quite darn good too. I just bought this DVD, and the best part of the film is mel brooks directors commentary! this is the best commentary on any dvd I own. mel brooks jokes around, is good-humored, and there is not too many pauses in the commentary either. If you arent a fan of commentary, I promise that you find this one at least fun to watch once. Everyone reading this has probably already seen the film, so let me tell all of you the sound on this disc is fantastic, especially for a relativily old master tape. the picture gives you 2 sides-one for pan/scan, the other for widescreen. if you loved the film, you will love this DVD! Review: What can I say, this is yet another one of those DVD's you have to have in your collection. Mel Brooks is a master at doing parodys and site gags, and this movie shows it. While not being as good as Blazing Saddles, the DVD is still scoring extremely high. I've owned this movie on every format excluding LaserDisc and including Beta, and I must say, this is the best transfer I've seen. The original transfers had a "washed-out" look to them, and the audio was sub-par. The DVD is absolutely amazing, the picture is clear and sharp, the colors are much better, you can even see Dark Helmet spit coffee on the camera, something I hadn't seen before. This dual-sided DVD features the 4:3 Pan-and-Scan (for you old fogies who want a full screen) and the wide screen presentations, including audio commentary by Brooks recorded in 96, and a wonderful Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track which was mastered extremely well. If you know someone who likes Brooks, pick the DVD up as a gift, trust me, they'll love you for it.

Review: "Spaceballs", a parody of the space adventure genre, is one of the worst of the bunch. A synopsis of the film's plot is not necessary: Suffice it to say that the viewer is inundated with jokes -- one coming roughly every 20 seconds -- made at the expense of "Alien," the "Star Trek" movies and the "Star Wars" films, with the latter taking the brunt of the attack. Thrown in for seasoning, as well, are jokes about sequels and movie merchandising -- "Spaceballs" dolls, "Spaceballs" breakfast cereal, and, of course, the "Spaceballs" flame thrower -- which Brooks sees as having been a side effect of Hollywood's space program. What you're conscious of throughout this movie is that you're sitting in your seat, not laughing at performers who desperately want you to laugh. Rick Moranis has a few good moments mugging to the camera as the Darth Vader character, Dark Helmut. The director himself plays two characters, the shorter of which is a greenish, gnomish, Yiddish little sage called Yogurt. Yogurt's catch phrase, and the movie's, is "May the Schwartz be with you." And for this you hire writers? In his other role, of President Skroob, leader of "Spaceballs", the planet, Brooks has a couple of almost-passable scenes, like the one in which he tries, with disastrous results, to have himself beamed up -- "Star Trek"-style -- into the next room. "Spaceballs" is actually a kind of comic black hole. All in all, the movie is about as funny as having coffee spilled in your lap. Except that there's no burn -- just that slightly embarrassing, uncomfortable, all-wet feeling.

Review: Mel Brooks' 1987 film parodying Star Wars, Star Trek, ect., just shows how twisted Mel Brooks' mind must be. It has a whole truck-load of laughs with characters such as Pizza the Hut, Barf, a Mawg(half-man half-dog), Dot Matrix, an obvious takeoff of C-3PO, and Dark Helment, the Spaceball villian played by Rick Moranis. It doesn't pack the punch like some of Brooks' other films, but it still tickles your funny bone. The rating, however, is PG. I would strongly suggest PG-13 for strong language and inneundo. But overall, a good movie.

Review: This was Brooks' best work. Not only is it hilarious, but Brooks' use of paridy humor is great. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves to laugh.

Summary: A Great DVD
Review: Ok of course this a great movie and I could sing praises all day, but the thing that really got me about this dvd was the way the movie looked on dvd. I had this movie on vhs and when I got it on dvd I was blown away by how vivid and improved the picture was. It is really amazing, I knew dvd often improved the way a movie looked, but of all my dvd's in my collection this is the one that has improved the most from vhs to dvd. I strongly suggest the movie because its funny and looks great.
