Summary: Horrible
Review: Why do they even bother producing movies like this? Terrible plot, not funny - tries too hard. Don't waste your time.

Summary: A Movie for the normal and the ridiculously good looking
Review: A fall over laughing comedy for everyone. Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is funny, stupid, and with Hansel (Owen Wilson) at his side you're in for the ultimate stupidity fest. This movie has a true meaning to it though; Male models become assassins everyday and we should respect that (only kidding). After watching Zoolander, you won't be able to look in a mirror without doing "blue steel."

Summary: Earth to Brint.....
Review: This movie is such a freakin' riot. I had seen it a couple of years ago, and I guess I must have watched it the first time 'round while nursing a high fever or debilitating illness. That explanation alone can only account for the reason why this dvd was added to my collection a mere two weeks ago. Why I have deprived myself of this much laughter for so long is beyond me.
Anyone that has given Zoolander less than 4 stars is clearly a fuddy-duddy. Owen Wilson as the scooter riding Bohemian model, Hansel, was comedic poetry. Ben Stiller, what can I say? The guy's a frickin' genius! This movie has more funny moments than not. The only part I could have lived without was the scene included for the sake of sexual gratuity. The scene I am referring to was obviously thrown in, and had no bearing on the plot line whatsoever. This scene would be a good time to refill your Coca-Cola and popcorn, or to take a quick trip changing loads in the washing machine. Zoolander has so many redeeming comedic moments, one can easily forgive the faux pas.
Even the celebrity cameos bring a smile. Billy Zane and his all too serious line, "It's a walk-off... It's a walk-off."
Mugatu's brain-washing video, Zoolander's trip home to find his roots in the coal-mine, set to the music of Loverboy. If you are one who is not easily amused, and are more discriminating with regard to your brand of comedy...Zoolander will become a oft-read, well-worn bookshelf classic in your home.

Summary: Incredibly Hilarious
Review: This was one of the many movies I went to see out of sheer boredom- not because I saw the ads and said to myself "Wow! I have to see that one!" Surprisingly, it turned out to be one of the funniest (new) films I've seen in a number of years. I'm not a particular fan of Ben Stiller's movies (though I always like the man himself). There wasn't much to laugh about in "There's Something About Mary" or "Meet the Parents", but Stiller's portrayal of Derek Zoolander, dim-witted male model, (along with a number of other roles) had me practically rolling on the floor with laughter. His dialogue and comic timing are perfectly fitted to the character, and his feigned accent is just icing on the cake.
I was especially pleased to see that "Zoolander" didn't delve nearly so deeply into the "gross-out" humor of some other Stiller films, especially when more and more so-called comedies seem to be following that path every year. To be sure, there were jokes about sex and bodily functions, but they were doled out sparingly and never came close to overshadowing the other, more clever dialogue.
Comedy is a tricky thing to critique. After all, perhaps more than in any other genre, quality is all a matter of personal taste rather than objective criteria. I personally found this film hilarious and enjoyable enough to watch again and again. For me, it was a rare find in the virtually endless sea of un-funny comedies constantly appearing in theaters around America.

Summary: Compelling :-)
Review: Derek Zoolander is plagued by more issues than a whole season of Afterschool Specials: Dead mother, working class background, distant father, dead friends, double crossing manager, aging in a youth obsessed business, inability to turn left. Yet, somehow Derek Z. comes out all right -- because he has a positive mental attitude (PMA). If you like this movie, I suggest the DVD "Gia," and the books "Gia" and "Edie." No, really, the more you see the dark side of modelling, the more you'll appreciate just how fun, upbeat, and unbeatable Derek Zoolander is. This movie is zip-zip-zip quick funny, with amazing costumes, great music, and lots of throwbacks to the 80's (and some 60's and 70's) fashion and pop culture. If you like bright colors, fast pacing, and characters who are (at times blindly) optimistic, you'll dig Zoolander! Zoolander is funny throughout; in every scene, Zoolander and Hansel (Owen Wilson) are inherently funny and likable. And bonus -- reporter Christina Taylor looks a lot like Marcia Brady. Like Night at the Roxbury and Undercover Brother, Zoolander deserves repeat viewings.

Summary: WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU??
Review: What is wrong with all you people who think this movie is so great and funny? it's the stupidest damn thing i've ever seen! to those of you who haven't seen it, do yourself a favor, and don't waste your time or money. it's totally lame...........

Summary: Funniest Movie EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This movie is just down right hilarious. Just think Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Will Ferrel combined!
The Plot: Mugatu, a fashion icon, needs an assassin to kill the prime minister of Mulasia. Of course, he chooses the extremely idiotic Derek Zoolander, played by Ben Stiller. However, Zoolander's arch rival gets thrown into the mix, and things get funny!
With millions of quotable gags, this movie is perfect from beginning to end!

Summary: The many sides of Ben Stiller... very funny!
Review: Ben Stiller has been for quite a while now one of my favorite comedians, but I admit when this movie first came out in 2001, I didn't feel compelled to check it out. Time would prove me wrong. After seeing a few clips off of it recently, I decided to give it a shot, and how much I laughed!

To be honest, there were more than a few similarities to Austin Powers in "Zoolander", but Stiller went beyond that. Taking on multiple roles, not just as an actor, but as Director, Producer, Writer, etc. Stiller proved on this one that he's up to the challenge, and makes you laugh 'til it hurts with his incarnation of a VERY dumb male model (Derek Zoolander) alongside a cast made up of close relatives (his wife, Christine Taylor, and his dad, Jerry Stiller, among them), multifaceted Will Ferrell and Stiller's now-inseparable comedy companion, Owen Wilson playing equally dumb male model Hansel McDonald, Zoolander's upcoming opponent.

Overall, more than a good renter: a funny movie for a good 2/3 of its duration. The end turned out to be a bit lamer than in most Stiller movies, but there are so many hilarious moments all throughout it, that I cannot give it less than four stars.

Summary: Hilariously and crazily weird
Review: "Zoolander" is an odd movie, to say the very least. Everyone is used to seeing Ben Stiller playing his signature role as the awkward everyman who screws himself over time and time again, but rarely do we get to indulge in what he is really capable of. His best assets (in my opinion) are his formidable ability to create uproarious, fictitious characters as well as his deadon impersonations and parodies of well-known stars. Finally, we have a movie in which he can star in a leading role as one of his own creations.

What everyone needs to know before watching "Zoolander" is that it is not a like the Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson collaborations we've seen thus far. It is a blatant parody of itself and is in no way trying to be serious (I mean, "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" is the main theme, for god's sake). That's the beauty of it. The characters are larger than life in looks and personality, some parts are meant to be just plain cheese, and other parts are just freaky in a trippy, "am I really watching this?" sort of way.

The plot is as crazy as they come, but Zoolander still manages to pull it off. And some of the comedic moments (mostly from Ben) will have you rolling. For instance, the "center for ants" rant and his visit to the coal mines to see his father (Jon Voight)...when he says, "I think I've got the black lung, pop" how can you not laugh? His pathetic coughs alone are enough to kill me.

Overall, I think this movie is super. Owen Wilson as Zoolander's rival, Hansel, is great. And Will Ferrell, the freakish Mugatu, is hilarious as well.

BUT...I do have two qualms with the movie. The first being that Ben Stiller's real wife, Christine Taylor, is a major character. For one, she is a horrible actress and two...well, she is just a really bad actress. I don't know, maybe it's just the role. (I never saw "The Brady Bunch Movie", so what do I know?) My second problem is Ben's father, Jerry Stiller, playing Zoolander's manager (Mr. Ballstein, I think). Don't get me wrong, I give kudos to Ben for including his whole family, and I love Jerry Stiller in Seinfeld, but I think that his peak ended with that show. He seems to only have one dynamic to his acting and his overwhelming persona just backfires all over the place. Besides that, some of his lines in the movie are just plain vulgar and seemed unnecessary--I really could've lived without hearing about his enlarged prostate.

I probably would give this movie 4.5 stars if I could, but I decided to round up. It definitely would get 5 stars if the family affair would have been left out. That's probably just my little ol' opinion, though. Check it out for yourself and enjoy!
