Rating: Summary: What knockers! Sank you doctor... Review: "I am a scientist!" Gene Wilder rants to his class, "My grandfathers work was doo doo!" Young Frankenstien is a person who has liveed his life under the morbid shadow of his grandfather, Baron Von Frankenstien. This is withoutadoubt (one word) one of the funniest movies you could watch. The movie itself is only partially old, but its black and white filming gives a great classic feeling. There are so many puns that there is no way in heck you could memorize them without repeated viewings. I love that. My brother in law, a rather picky viewer (pickier than me) (even more pickier than others) watched this with me the other day. He was chuckling his head off. Just watching HIS reaction made me roll on the floor with tears coming down my face. (I do that when I laugh hard). Well, I suppose my point is that this movie is a class A comedy, that even the pickiest of people love. The dude is a stone! An unbreakable critic that...well. You get the idea. Watch it for liquid rendering laughs. (Might wanna watch it after the kids go to bed!) *****
Rating: Summary: THIS MOVIE WAS HYSTERICAL... Review: IT HAS MADELINE KAHN AND GENE WILDER AND OF COURSE MEL BROOKS, WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SAY. THEY ARE SOOO FUNNY IN THIS SPOOF OF FRANKENSTEIN. MADELINE KAHN IS SUPERBLY FUNNY, WITH HER ACCENT AND THE WAY SHE GOES AFTER YOUNG DR. FRANKENSTEIN. AND THE MONSTER IS HYSTERICAL IN THIS SPOOF AS WELL, WHEN HE IS WITH THAT LITTLE GIRL... DEFINETLY A MUST SEE.
Rating: Summary: Hmmm!!! Review: by far the best film mel brooks ever directed, this movie includes what must be one of the weirdest gag in american comedy history, anticipating even that boring effort from roberto begnini called la vita é bella. Doctor Fronkonstin is giving one of his master classes using an old man as a lab rat which at the moment of coming down from the rolling hospital bed shows his back, terribly resembling the look of a nazi camp prisoner# pretty cruel and utterly effective
Rating: Summary: This Creation Has Life Review: I have seen all of Mel Brooks' films, and I consider Young Frankenstein to be his finest work. All the jokes still work in this movie, even 26 years after it was theatrically released. Young Frankenstein is a great parody for three reasons. The first, every actor in the cast are at their hysterical best. This illustrious cast includes Gene Wilder (Dr. Frankenstein), Teri Garr (Inga), the late Marty Feldman (Igor), Madeline Kahn (Frankenstein's Fiancee), Peter Boyle (the creature), Cloris Leachmann (Frau Breuheimer), and an amusing cameo by Gene Hackman (the blind old man). Second, Young Frankenstein was filmed in glorious black and white. Therefore, an audience could automatically connect this film with the two films that it lampoons, Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein, also filmed in black and white. Lastly, Young Frankenstein utilized the same lab equipment that was used in the original Frankenstein film. This gave Young Frankenstein visual authenticity. Along with Tootsie, Airplane, and There's Something About Mary, Young Frankenstein is one of the funniest comedies in cinematic history. Young Frankenstein is the benchmark that all other movie parodies should be compared to. No DVD collection would be complete without Young Frankenstein.
Rating: Summary: a classic comedy!!!! Review: my uncle is peter boyle (young frankenstien's monster), and i asked him what it was like to film this movie."it was horrible" is what he said.well......IT SURE WAS WORTH IT!!!!!this movie has all the ingredients of a great comedy.....a spoof, sex, pain, stupidity on the characters part, and Mel Brooks!!!!!this had to have been the greatest comedy ever made, because if it wasnt, it wouldnt have a 5-star rating average.
Rating: Summary: Abbey, Abbey uh Normal, I believe! Review: I just needed to affirm every review touting this movie as hysterical. I saw this in the theater, and have been quoting lines from "Young Frankenstein" ever since. Gene Wilder is fabulous (even a bit creepy), and Chloris Leachman steals the show in my book. 5 hilarious stars!!!!
Rating: Summary: HeheheHohohoHAHAH Review: Have you ever seen a movie where you hear a joke, you chuckle, then you giggle, and then you realize the full meaning of the joke and you roar? That is what you will do with "Young Frankenstein". Gene Wilder, and Cloris Leachman at their best.
Rating: Summary: Gene Wilder's Funny Days Review: This is the funniest old movie that has ever been made, as far as I'm concerned. They're just aren't hardly any funny old timers, with exception to Young Frankenstein, Murder by Death and Jerry Lewis' The Nutty Professor. Seeing the media's reaction to his invention and seeing the Dr. interact with Frankenstein is as funny as anything you'll see. The only more funny thing is when Frankenstein goes out into our environment and meets everyone. For example. A young girls parents suspect that their girl is in trouble, and she is playing with Frankenstein. She tells him to hop on the seesaw and when he does, she flies all the way to her room just as her parents open the door to check on her. The idea of this movie is nothing shy of brilliant as well as everything else about it.
Rating: Summary: Yes, this really was the funniest movie ever! Review: Wow! I absolutely loved this movie. It spoofed just about every other Frankenstein movie that I have seen. Marty Feldman as Igor was my personal favorite. He was perfect for the witty lab assistant who has a hump that changes sides. Gene Wilder was also a very fresh, yet believable, Frankenstein and has been able to carry on the great tradition of Frankenstein and of spoofs. I watched this movie primarily for the humor, but now I also have a much greater appreciation for the Frankenstein movies as well. This is definetly a movie for all of the Frakenstein junkies, but also for people who love to laugh. Lots.
Rating: Summary: Great supplemental material, BUT ... Review: this was done for the laserdisc back in 1996.
