Summary: ...And if you are having problems read!
Review: Great movie, best the film has ever looked in my memory and considering they had trouble finding elements for it they get kudos. It sounds great too.
By and large the second disc isn't very good. The extras are neither informative (technically) nor funny (subjectively). Maybe it's me but I think these guys are less funny in their old age. But it doesn't matter; more python is good no matter what.

IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS READ BELOW:
Universal has addressed the problem that some people are experiencing:
"Thank you for contacting Universal Studios. With the advent of cutting-edge technology in the DVD format, a small number of DVD players do not have the technical capability to take full advantage of the Monty Python's The Meaning of Life disc format. Universal Studios Home Video has become aware of a player specific issue which results in the appearance of jagged video interlacing, on disc 1 only. Disc 2 is NOT affected. Consumers with an incompatible player may mail back Disc 1 to Universal and receive a replacement. To obtain a pre-paid USPS envelope in which to mail back the original Disc 1, please call 1-800-433-4673. Replacement discs are currently scheduled to be available mid-November 2003. We appreciate your patronage and hope you continue to enjoy our products."

Now you have no excuse not to buy this.

Summary: Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life!
Review: From birth to death, this is a hilarious view at the time we spend inbetween. The established cast of actors, in and out of drag, poke fun at everything from religion to vital organ transplants. My favorite scene is where "the fattest man in the world" pigs out at a fancy restaurant and eventually explodes to the disgust of the other guests. Another good one is where 3 couples at a house party get a visit from the grim reaper and give him several clever arguments befor finally following him to heaven. This is The Monty Python Gang at their very best. The little ditty at the end of the movie is priceless! This film is an absolute must for fans (but then again, if you're a fan, you've already seen it anyway). Five stars for this one!

Summary: Python sort out the meaning of life...sort of!
Review: Is it the life of fish or people? No matter because both get
equal time on what I believe to be one of the better Monty Python movies-mostly because it doesn't talk over the head of it's audience the way "The Life Of Brain" often did.Sure it's
crude,SURE Terry Jones's direction gives it an irreverant musical feel but you cannot miss Eric Ideles "stroll through the
stars" or the dinner party with the Grim Reaper.Or even the
Rastaferrian jew!Plus Terry Gilliam's newfound "space age"
animation couldn't be more 1983.The opening short is very bafflig
at first but as with all Python once you get it,you can't get
enough. This,"The Flying Circus" and "The Holy Grail" are
essencial Monty Python!

Summary: Defective until mid-November (but great movie!)
Review: This DVD has a minor distortion problem on some players. (For example, my X-Box is one of them). You can go ahead and buy it now and then get a free replacement from Universal Studios in mid-November 2004. They assert that the problem occurs on "a small number of DVD players," but when you call the number below, they answer with "Welcome to the Monty Python's Meaning of Life DVD Replacement Hotline." Hmm. That guy must be bored, answering calls from a small number of people each day.

Well, the problem isn't that bad, so don't let it stop you from buying the DVD. Ok, here's the official announcement in their words:

"With the advent of cutting-edge technology in the DVD format, a small number of DVD players do not have the technical capability to take full advantage of the Monty Python's The Meaning of Life disc format. Universal Studios Home Video has become aware of a player specific issue which results in the appearance of jagged video interlacing, on disc 1 only. Disc 2 is NOT affected. As to the movie itself: of course, it rules!! Happy viewing.

This is The Monty Python Gang at their very best. The little ditty at the end of the movie is priceless! You will also enjoy the "introduction" by a groups of gold fish and the "opener" saluting the great profession of accountancy. Summary: dead funny!
Review: this movie is funily stupid, it divides life into seven parts from birth, to death! It's christmas in heaven every day for some reason, the war scene was funny when all the troopers bought the general loads of gifts and got killed off one by one.
some guy gets to choose his own death and gets chased by nearly naked ladys, a teacher has sex with his wife infront of a whole class, and the world's fattest man pops when eating an after dinner mint.
truly a classic and if you think that this film is a complete waste of money, then you don't have good taste in films!

Summary: It plays well
Review: Before I brought this I read lots reviews about the playing problem. But finally I decided to buy it because the Criterion Collection version out of print so long.
After I got it, I put the first disc into my player at once. Fortunately, there was not any problem when playing it. The movie plays smoothly and clearly. I don't know it's because Universal already replaced it or my dvd player doesn't have ploblem on that special technic.
The movie is well as everyone who love it know. But I think the disc two is a little boring and otiose. If you skip the disc two you won't miss anything. But ensure don't skip the deleted scenes on disc one.

Summary: 3 cheers for your willy or john tomas
Review: this movie has its funny moments and sometimes it just lags on.
but it is funny tho. part 2 was the best one.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: It's not bad, it just isn't particularly funny
Review: After being convulsed in hysterics while viewing The Holy Grail and The Life of Brian, I had great expectations for this film. Unfortunately, it rather let me down. While the production values and musical numbers are well-done, only about one fiftieth of the film even made me chuckle; the whole thing was just blah. The only scene that really made me laugh was when John Cleese was teaching a sexual education class and gave his students a very realistic lesson... other viewers know what I mean.

I didn't hate it, but this is definitely their worst effort and a very bad starting point if you're looking to get into Monty Python.
