Summary: Life Is Beautiful is a gift, not a trivialization.
Review: I saw Life is Beautiful without having read initial reviews or having listened to early reviewer discussions.

The film is warm and bittersweet depiction of a desperate father trying to shield his lovely, innocent child from the unthinkable brutality of the Holocaust.

This review is meant to be reactive. When this film first debuted, some critics, whom I doubt could have actually seen the film based on their vague charges and unwarranted remarks, blasted away at the film. They called it a gross trivialization of the period of unthinkable suffering countless Jews, and other minorities, experienced at the hands of the monster Nazis.

Unfortunately, this pre-publicity shaped the mindset of many moviegoers in an unfair way.

Many bought the false notion that the film was trivial or at best lightweight; that was NOT the case.

Although the film uses humor and joyfulness throughout, in no way does it lessen the truth about Hitler's Germany or deny the terror and horror of actual events.

What it does is simply take the perspective of a young child through this terrible war. Don't miss it! And if someone has previously convinced you of its flaws, try to overcome that prejudice and see it on your own. Only then, will you learn how powerful and respectful a film it IS.

Summary: THe best film of the year
Review: I have seen this movie about 12 times and im 14. im not one to cry at movies but this movie had a way about it that made it soo remarkable. It was just a wodnerful you cant relaly describe it. But i honestly think they are ruining a masterpeice by dubbing it in English it will ruin the affect it has on the movie. But tahts my opinion. everyone should see it. ROBERTO AND NICOLETTA ROCK!

Summary: One of the BEST movies ever!
Review: The beauty of this movie lies in the amazing lengths taken to protect a child from the reality of the Holocaust. So often we feel like we need to be the one to tell our children how it is so they don't get surprised when they go out in the world. Yet, this movie beautifully illustrates that it is okay to protect our children because we love them and want the best for them. This movie took my breath away. I loved it.

Summary: Must be seen by every parent!!!
Review: This movie should be required for parents to see. It shows in such an artistic way the sacrifices we should all make for our children. The title sums up the entire movie. I rate this movie 100 stars!

Summary: Best Movie I've ever seen; it should be required viewing.
Review: I saw Life is Beautiful 3 times in a 2 week period and I don't think i have ever cried as much in my teen life as I did in that movie. It has such a powerful message and yet it delivers it without trying to lecture you. I came out of that movie a different person and i think it should be required viewing for all schools.

Summary: Definitely one of the best pictures ever
Review: In this picture Benigni is absolutely fantastic as an actor with the leading role and as a director. The combination of humor and drama gave me an incredible mix of feelings. The soundtrack it's as beautiful as the screenplay. At the end I felt like this is definitely one of the best pictures ever made!

Summary: Absoluely flawless
Review: After I saw this film I decided to never see another serious movie again. It was so beautiful and so flawless that it has ruined me. There isn't a false moment anywhere.

Summary: The best movie I have ever seen.
Review: Life is Beautiful is by far the most moving yet un-manipulative story about love of children and family and love of life that I have ever had the pleasure to have seen.

Summary: A simple,but brilliant movie!
Review: Benigni's got it all: funny the most part of the movie, serious when he needs to be... I'm sorry for mister Hanks, one of my favourite actors of the "new generation", but Benigni simply deserved the Oscar... and when you think at the fact that he's the first not english speaking actor to win the Oscar, you can't argue at the idea that he achieved something brilliant. Bravo Roberto!

Summary: An emotionally powerful movie to remember.
Review: The contrast between the first and second halves of this movie is striking. An apparently romantic comedy suddenly takes a turn towards the horrors of war but with a positive attitude. Of course the concentration camp is not intended to be pictured realistically but to present to the viewer a setting in which the spirit of the man triumphs, much like on a stage rather than in a movie. I was never so moved after seeing a film in my life. I was speechless. Incidentally, I was not aware of the theme of this movie when I went to see it and felt some of the "what did I get myself in for?" as the story developed. I recommend it highly for anyone serioulsy interested in the cinema, comedy, and history.
