Summary: Just a big cash in
Review: To me I feel that Space Jam is a big insult to all those Warner Bros. cartoon characters that we all grew up on as kids. We all know how out of control Michael Jordon's ego is with all the endorsments he makes, from Nike, from MCI, from rechargeable batteries, and of course, this movie. Generation after generation has come to love Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, and Bugs Bunny. Even the generation of kids who might have watched Space Jam seen these old cartoons and are not one bit bothered that they're often over 50 years old. Back in the 1940s and 1950s, Warner Bros. was out there to entertain the kids with these cartoon characters. In 1996, all Warner Bros. was in to is profits, so they use one of the NBA's biggest stars, and their classic characters and make it "hip" for the 1990s. The soundtrack isn't much of a help either, I couldn't stand R. Kelly doing "I Believe I Can Fly" or Seal ruining Steve Miller's "Fly Like an Eagle". If you're a big fan of the old Warner Bros. cartoons, stick with the old cartoons that used to be aired Saturday mornings and avoid Space Jam like the plague, unless you're a small kid who loves basketball.

Review: My son is 7 and he usually watches a dvd once and has no interest in watching it again. Not with this movie! He watches it over and over again and really enjoys it.

Review: Air Jordan and the Heckling Hare? Couldn't work.....could it? Leave your cynicism about merchaindaising at the door, because Space Jam accomplishes something that The Flintstones Meets The Jetsons, or other such fare, could never achieve. First, for such a goofy concept, the film is remarkably grounded in reality, and some of the best scenes are about victimized NBA players dealing with no talents; add to that the implications of Jordan's experience with the Looneys affecting his chosen sport. Performances are dead-on, and Michael is as properly laconic an actor as he is a player. Finally, the key to this is the Looney Tunes themselves - it's their first foray into true feature films. Thankfully, each character (especially Bugs and Daffy, and those two ought to be) are complete in character as they were in the 40s and 50s. Seeing Bugs get equal billing as the live-action star is beyond promising; it's a reminder that Bugs Bunny has possibly meant more to Americans than a great deal of actors, writers, and directors combined. People will pass on, but the "mild-mannered forest creature", as he himself would put it, will live on into eternity.

Summary: Looney Tunes should stick to anvils
Review: This film was a travesty. But hey- its a kids movie, right? I can't bash it too much. Still, watching it now it makes me angry at how such a horrible film can get by. If you are below the age of 10, like sports, and have never seen a REAL Bugs Bunny cartoon, you might like it. Other than that, its only saving grace is the Pulp Fiction reference with Elmer and Sam near the end- oh, and Bill Murray. Michael Jordan's appearance is solely for the sake of showing him play ball with Jock Jams playing in the background whilst the cartoon characters stand in awe. I'd rather watch Cartoon Network.

Summary: A surprisingly good film
Review: I'm not exactly the kind of audience that this movie was intended for. I'm not a basketball fan, although I do know who Michael Jordan is. For me, the biggest appeal was seeing how the cartoon characters interacted with the live-action actors.The special effects aren't up to par with, say, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", but they come pretty close. Not all the jokes work, and the first half-hour is a bit slow. But once Jordan and the toons team up, the film really hits its stride. I was surprised, because with a huge sports star like Jordan in this kind of film, I thought the emphasis would've been more on marketing and sponsorship strategies than working hard to make a decent film. Thankfully, I was wrong.

Review: His Airness and His Hareness: what a team! Michael Jordan slams, Bugs Bunny jams and a cavalcade of Looney Tunes stars hoop it up in Space Jam, the rim-rattlin' animated/live-action roundball romp from Hollywood talents who refuse to let their imagination be earthbound. The jokes fly and the fun never stops as the Tune Squad takes on the Nerdlucks in a hardcourt game to decide if the Looney Tunes remain here...or become attractions at a far-off galactic off-ramp called Moron Mountain. The Nerdlucks have a monstrous secret weapon on their side: They've stolen the skills of top NBA stars like Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing and become Monstars. But that's not all, folks. The Tune Squad also has a secret weapon. And he just happens to be the finest player in this or any other universe. He's outta this world. So's the fun.

Review: I think all ages could like this movie, as long as your somewhat of a basketball fan, well maybee not even that. With famous basketball star Michael Jordan of Chicago Bulls starring along with cartoon classic Bugs Bunny and Moron Mountain space critters Loony Toons go head 2 head on the b-ball court.

Summary: Jordan and the Tunes score a slam dunk
Review: Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, and the rest of the Looney Tunes call on Michael Jordan to help them win a basketball contest after they're kidnapped by a group of aliens. Jordan agrees and if they lose the basketball game, he agrees to be the aliens' star attraction. "Space Jam" isn't like you might expect it to be. It's not just a movie showcasing Jordan's talents as a basketball player. It is more of a great comedy movie, particularly with the Looney Tunes. Some of the funniest parts are when Sylvester gets shot and Tweety flies through him and says "Holey Putty Tat." Another good one is when one of the men from "Seinfeld" gets blown up like a hot air balloon and then deflates, stinking up the basketball court. Bill Murray also makes an appearance to give Jordan and the Tunes some extra help. If you're a fan of Michael Jordan or if you used to like watching Looney Tunes, this is one movie you've got to see. It'll keep you entertained and laughing throughout the whole movie.

Summary: Space Jam-Enhanced Edition Still Denies Us A Widescreen Film
Review: Attention! My rating is not intended for the film itself but for Warner Brother's decision not to give us a widescreen or letterboxed format of this movie. Anyone who has been holding out for a special edition of this film will only be half pleased when they realize the film is still shown in the pan and scan format. I understand this film is aimed at children and that they might not like it letterboxed but you could at least give us the choice like Columbia Tristar did when they released Stuart Little (both a pan and scan and a widescreen version were made available on DVD for this film). Come on WB! Get with the program!
