Summary: Just saw the actual movie, not just a preview.
Review: We just got back from watching Scooby doo the movie with my 9 year old daughter. We loved it. Matthew Lilliard as Shaggy was simply fantastic. He was born to play that role. They could NOT have cast it better. Linda Cardellini as Velma was good too. She didn't say Jinkies as often as would have been liked, but there wasn't very many times when it was appropriate. Otherwise she was very good. I was glad to see Sarah Michelle Gellar, as Daphne, bring her role up to date. Daphne learned how to defend herself and still look good doing it. She was still Daphne though. Had luggage and a car that matched her outfit and everything. Freddie Prinze Jr, as Fred, could have been better. He didn't put himself into the role well enough at all. Other than wearing the clothes and having the hair, he just wasn't 'Fred'. But my nine year old didn't really seem to care. You don't see him as much as you see Shaggy and Scoody, they really carried the movie. So I don't count that against the movie as a whole. Scooby looked real enough. I mean, I could tell that he wasn't. But my nine year old didn't seem to. Scrappy Doo was in it too, which was a surprise. The movie also have a very surprising ending, that I won't give away. There was also some very awesome music. My daughter and I were dancing in our seats. We will definitely be buying the soundtrack to this one. There were lots of funny parts. My daughter was laughing out loud almost throughout the movie. The scary parts weren't too scary for her either. That was really a good thing, because my daughter is really easy to scare, she walked out of Cats and Dogs because it was too scary. But this movie scared just enough to get the point across and then stopped, or Scooby and shaggy would do something goofy and take some of the scare away. The movie even had some educational value on a personal level. The gang learned some things about each other and how to get along better with each other, and the importance of friendship. They learned that they really aren't that much different from each other, and they all just want to be liked and excepted, and Daphne and Velma learned that each wanted to be more like the other, Fred learned to think about others feelings. I think it's good for kids to see that they aren't the only ones who feel like they aren't understood, or that they aren't the only one who wishes they were like someone else. They might be surprised to see that someone wants to be like them. I will give a word of caution to parents of young children. There was one scene my husband felt was inappropriate, where Fred and Daphne trade bodies. Fred thinks it cool because, "Now I can look at 'myself' naked!" My nine year old understood he meant he could look at Daphne's body naked, but she didn't think anything of it, since he didn't mention touching anything. That was all that was said about it, and Daphne was not too happy about that. She hit him with her purse. But he didn't get the chance, cause they changed back almost immediately. Shaggy and Scooby had a burping and tooting contest that I'm sure some parents won't appreciate. But all the kids in the theater were laughing their heads off. It was done as good smelly fun. All in all it was a great movie. My daughter wants to go see it again, she gives it two thumbs up and 1000 stars. She already wants to buy it when it comes out on DVD too.

Bottom line, if you like Scooby Doo cartoons even a little I think you will really like the movie. It was very funny, lighthearted fun. With awesome music. With some surprises, even adults won't guess who done it before the end of the movie.

Summary: Really Good?!
Review: I went into this movie expecting a movie that would not be great, but I came out laughing, having had a great time. First of all, if you listen to the critics reviews, you are being lied to. This movie was really good and funny. Maybe they forgot the demographic that this movie was going for. Don't get me wrong- this movie should not be up for best picture. Actually with most of the bad movies this year, i could see it. The acting was really good. Matthew Lillard did a fantastic job as Shaggy, He and Scooby were the best part as they were in the cartoon. Linda Cardalinni nailed Velma. Freddie Prinze Jr. was actually really good and funny. Sarah Michelle Gellar was also good. The effects were really good. Scooby was cute, and he looked real. This movie is definitely for kids, but it had A LOT of inside jokes- that kept me laughing when I was out of the theatre- for adults. If you listen to critics reviews or internet movie geek websites (which are primarily made by Star Wars fans. And Epidsode 2 has nothing on Scooby Doo. Scooby Doo had much better acting, writing, and kept my interest.) then you would be led to believe that this movie was horribe, but it was really good. Defintiely take your kids (or see it if you do not have kids) to see Scooby-Doo; it is enjoyable for kid as well as adults (my mother loved it, and my brother who was making fun of it liked it a lot, too) This movie far exceeded my expectations; and If you give it a chance, I'm sure it will exceed yours.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I thought Scooby Doo the Movie was going to be a boring little kids movie that i was dragged to go watch it with my little sister but i found it funny. It was very good. Freddie Prinze Jr. was awesome as Freddie and the same with Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne. I'm going to buy it when it comes out on DVD.

Summary: Scooby Doo!!!!
Review: Great movie! Velma (Linda Cardellini) and Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) were the GREAT! I think it was cast well, but Fred (Freddy Prinze Jr.) was unlike the original character. I enjoyed the movie, its off-the-wall storyline and it is a good break from "serious" movies. It is funny for kids and adults. The adult jokes will go right over children heads.

Thankfully, the movie pays tribute to the original series, and has an ending that will leave you surprised.

Enjoy the movie!

Summary: If you're a Scooby fan, you'll love the Movie!
Review: This movie is for the TRUE Scooby Doo fans! The movie is very funny and I thought the characters played their roles perfectly. There is quite a bit of humor in this movie which keeps the young and old laughing throughout. I grew up with Scooby Doo cartoons and still love to watch them today as an adult. The movie brought back lots of memories of those Saturday morning cartoons. I do not think there is much that I would not like about any Scooby movie or video because I am a TRUE, devoted Scooby Doo fan who appreciates all the joy the cartoons have brought my son & I. I hope to see lots more in the future!

Summary: Fun and Funny movie
Review: Before I saw the movie, I was skeptical of the cast selections of Freddie Prinze Jr and Sarah Michele Geller, but after seeing it, I think they did a great job. Linda Cardellini made Velma more than a brain and Matthew Lillard IS Shaggy. The entire cast did an incredible job of bringing to life some beloved cartoon characters.

The movie itself was like a longer, live-action, episode of the classic cartoons. Some people would say that some of the action was predictable, but when have you watched the cartoon and not known when the gang was going to split up, or Shaggy and Scooby were going to run away from a ghost, etc? The cartoons followed a formula, and the movie doesn't change it.

And it was funny. Though the kids and adults in the audience had different degrees of laughter at different jokes, they were all laughing.

A lot of people have made a big to-do about the "in jokes" of Scooby Doo. When I was a kid watching the show, the only thing I understood that was never said was that Fred and Daphne were boyfriend/girlfriend. And that's all I got from the movie. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough, or I didn't want to see anything else. In any case, I'm glad the movie makers kept the spirit of the cartoons unchanged.

The only negative thing I can say about this movie is that I was somewhat disappointed by the ending. I won't give it away, and I'm sure some fans of the show will cheer at it, but I thought it was a little out of spirit.

When I was in elementary school, I knew a girl who had nightmares from the cartoon. I think the movie could have the same affect on littler kids. I would compare the scariness to the green minions in Anastasia (I thought those would be quite scary to a little kid, but I don't have kids so who knows what they think is scary these days).

So, to sum up, go see it, take your kids (if they don't scare easily), and be ready to laugh.

Summary: Scooby-Doo!
Review: The cast (especially Lillard) is exactly like the characters you would see in the cartoon series. It was an enjoyable flick but you would only enjoy it if you grew up with Scooby-Doo cartoons or the Scooby-Doo comics or enjoy watching the cartoons even if you didn't grow up with them! Some people think it lacks originality. I don't think so! I think it was a clever little flick! But still unless you're a fanatic or at least know the characters, you probably wouldn't enjoy it!

The film's like a DeJa Vu all over again! The movie was a lot like the cartoon episodes. Scooby-Doo is probably everything it's fans were expecting it to be. It's almost exactly like the cartoon. The movie has the same charm and the same pranks as well as the same gags that you would see in the cartoons. The movie was quite funny and was well worth the wait. The crew did a good job with the costumes! The movie is like a goofy movie version of the cartoon and is so brightly-colored that it would remind you of "Legally Blonde" and any "Disney Cartoon"! The film is probably enjoyable because of the usual jokes and Lillhard's performance as Shaggy. They couldn't have chosen a better Shaggy! It's the great family film that you would probably be waiting for after seeing great features like "Monsters Inc." and "Ice Age"! Every second that you are watching the movie, you can tell that the director is a big fan of Scooby-Doo since he went through so many measures to make the movie look exactly like the cartoon! Overall it's a great movie certainly worth the wait and deserves high recommendations but once again you should only go if you at least know the characters in Scooby-Doo!

Summary: Scooby Doo for Big Kids
Review: This is not a movie to take your young children to. What it is is a live-action movie, that for the most part is just as entertaining as those cartoons you loved as a kid. The storyline and style is more reminiscient of the more recent Scooby Doo Spinoffs/Episodes, like a Pup Named Scooby Doo. The plot itself reminds me somewhat of Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. In the end, the movie falls short in a few places, and there are some "celebrities" that would have been better left on the cutting room floor. There's a touch more sophmoric humor than I thought proper, but it was still a hilarious entraining way to spend a couple of hours.

Summary: PREVIEWS DON'T TELL THE WHOLE STORY!
Review: FOR ONE DAPHNE DOSE NOT KICKBOX THROUGH THE ENTIRE MOVIE! THAT'S JUST 1 LITTLE PART ON THE PREVIEW, THERE IS AN EXPLANATION IN THE MOVIE! AND FOR ANOTHER VELMA DOSN'T SAY "LET'S GET JIGGY WITH IT" SHE SAYS "LET'S GET JENKY WITH IT"! AND EVEN THOUGH SHE DOSN'T SAY HER KEY PHRASE IN THE PREVIEW
SHE SAY'S IT ALOT DURING THE ACTUAL MOVIE AND THE MOVIE IS GOOD! DON'T WRITE A REVEW BEFOR YOU SEE THE MOVIE!!!I AM A HUGE FAN OF SCOOBY DOO AND HAVE SEEN ALMOST EVERY EPISODE! AND I THINK THAT THE MOVIE IS PRETTY TRUE TO THE CARTOON! THE CASTING MAY SEEM A LITTLE WEIRD WITH FREDDY PRINZ JR AND SARAH MICHELL GELLAR, I'M NOT A FAN OF EITHER BUT THEY ACTUALY DO A PRETTY GOOD JOB IN THIS MOVIE! BUT THE BEST ACTORS AND THE ONES TRUEST TO THERE CARTOON CHARECATURES ARE VELMA AND SHAGGY THEY ARE AMAZING THE SOUND AND ACT LIKE THEM AND LILLARD DOSE AN UNCANNY SHAGGY! SO DON'T DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THIS MOVIE JUST COUSE OF THE PREVEW! IT'S REALY FUNNY AND WORTH THE TIME! I REALY RECOMEND THIS MOVIE. O, AND THE PLOT IS GOOD TOO.
