Summary: Featherweight Fun
Review: I avoided Warner Bros.'s live-action adaptation of "Scooby Doo" all summer because, well, I hate the cartoon and the reviews were...unkind, to say the least. But when it was released to DVD on Oct. 11, I decided to give it a try (more than a try, really: I bought it), and I'm glad I did. With its candy-colored cinematography and airy, fun atmosphere, "Scooby Doo" is one heck of a guilty pleasure. After the Mystery, Inc., gang breaks up, a mysterious theme park owner calls all the members back together to help find answers about the spooky menace that haunts him and his island tourists. But plot is the least of this movie's concerns. The jokes -- and, I guess, the computer-animated Scooby -- are the attraction here, and while many of them fail, plenty also succeed (I particularly like the sly references to, uh, "Mary Jane," and, surprisingly, Scooby and Shaggy's silly "gas-off.") "Scooby Doo" is passable entertainment, especially if many of the audience members are under 12 (although it's reasonable enough for level-headed adults, like myself, to enjoy it).

Summary: Not as Bad as I Thought it would Be
Review: Wow, I really thought I was going to loath this movie in every shape and form. I really did not want to see this movie, but I was forced to watch it with my family. But to my surprise, I found the movie "Scooby-Doo" to be pretty entertaining and decent. It's nothing I'm going to see again any time soon, but it is a lot better than I thought it was going to be.

The film version follows the cartoon pretty well. Mystery Inc. is on the verge of breaking up forever until they are invited to a spookey theme park where the owner thinks there is something strange going on. So it is up to them to uncover the mystery and find out why people who leave the park seem like mindless zombies. As with the cartoons, there are tons of twist, surprises, and a logical explanation at the end.

What really made me like the movie was Matthew Lillard. He was a true spitting image of Shaggy in every possible way; he even sounded like him! And even the animated Scooby, which I thought would turn out really bad, was very comical and convincing. The rest of the cast was all right, but it was really Matthe Lillard who made me appreciate the movie more.

The DVD is pretty cool. Lots of special features, the picture looks great and the sound was also pretty impressive. However, the menu is terrible! It's very confusing to figure out which option or feature is highlighted at first. One of the worst I have seen on a DVD in a long time.

All in all, "Scooby-Doo" turned out to be an all right film. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I guess it's somewhere in the middle. Am I ever going to want to see it again. Probably not. But, I will say I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. If you're a fan of the cartoon show, chances are you will enjoy this movie. It wasn't great, but then again, I didn't think it was bad.

Summary: Nice adaption of the cartoon!
Review: As a long-time fan of the cartoon, I was a little skeptical of this movie, thinking that they couldn't create a film as good as the show and that the actors wouldn't be able capture their characters' personas. I was wrong! Scooby-Doo is fun, amusing movie that the entire family could watch.

The plot of the movie is that two years after the Mystery Inc. gang goes their separate ways, Emile Mondavarious [Rowan Atkinson, a.k.a. Mr. Bean], owner of Spooky Island, invites them all [without any of them knowing the other has been invited] to his resort to investigate why the students, who've came there for Spring Break, are acting so strange. So, Fred [Freddie Prinze Jr.], Daphne [Sarah Michelle Gellar], Velma [Linda Cardellini], Shaggy [Matthew Lillard] and Scooby head to the island to check things out. When they get there, odd happenings begin to occur and they have to crack the case before things get out of hand! I also loved the ending. It was quite a surprise!

Out of all of the actors, I thought Matthew Lillard did a wonderful job in his portrayal of Shaggy. He truly acted just like the cartoon Shaggy did.

The special features on the DVD are great, too. You get a one or two player arcade trivia game, commentary by the cast & crew, terrific deleted scenes, plus much more.

I'm sure most of the fans of the original cartoon will enjoy this live-action movie, also.

Summary: The real mystery...
Review: How can anyone with a functioning brain think that this film is worth looking at, let alone watching in its entirety. I must confess however, I hate Scooby Doo, I've always hated Scooby Doo. But there are a lot of things that I do not like that make good movies.

This is not a good movie. Scooby Doo is not only the worst movie ever made but it's probably the worst thing ever created by mankind.

Summary: Yuck!
Review: I'm sorry, but this movie is an embarassment to the franchise. The plot was just too weird and didn't make a lot of sense, although the special effects were great. But the casting was the WORST! The actors who played Shaggy and Velma were ok, but Freddie and Michelle, gotta go. Were they a package deal or something? Talk about over-playing Daphne!

Summary: "Funnier than even Black Knight or Austin Powers!"
Review: When I put this in, I had an open mind and was expecting a good laugh and a heck of a good movie, and I got what I expected. Scooby-Doo was extremely funny, super-cool, and loaded with stuff that SD characters wouldn't say in the show, such as the slang for the F-word and Daphne says [butt] in here also: "Anybody messes with me, I'll just open a can of 2000-year-old Chinese whoop-[butt] on 'em!" And I laughed for minutes after the part where Scooby and Shaggy had a fart-off, and Shaggy kept on farting, and just when Daphne appeared behind him and he ripped a huge fart. Or when he was in the suit of armor and he farted in their and ingnited the candle behind him for a brief second. All I can say is that this is absoulutely worth the 90 minuts, so take some time out of your day and just laugh out loud for once in how many years?

Summary: The screen writer has never seen an episode of the TV show.
Review: If the shows creator wanted the characters to be selfserving, nasty, or split up for that matter he would have written them that way. this is a halfway decent movie in it own right. probably worth renting but it should not be called scooby doo. The characters all have the same names and the solve a mystery, there the similarity ends. this movie is a profanity of a good cartoon and i find it offensive that anyone would rape a good show like this.

Summary: Scooby Doo Does it Right
Review: A fan of the cartoon since childhood, I have to admit that I saw the movie with mixed anticipation. I wanted to call it a horrible nightmare, to hate it.

But instead, I found myself thoroughly enjoying my time watching Mystery Inc back in action! Freddy Prinze Jr and Sarah Michelle Gellar star along side Matthew Lilliard and Linda Cardellini as the infamous Scooby gang: Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma. Each of the actors puts forth a great performance, from Velma's intelligence to the almost perfect sound of Shaggy's voice. And Scooby is excellent as a CGI character who interacts with the rest of the cast remarkably.

This movie has a few tongue in cheek jokes, a lot of great laughs, and some stellar performances. It's well worth checking out and the audio commentary by the cast is enjoyable as well! Check this out and you will enjoy it!

Summary: What the...is wrong with you people??
Review: Scooby-Doo the cartoon was great and classic - This movie just takes another property and turns it into trash. Really bad story gets worse and worse. If anyone has ever seen the cartoon you have a million questions - like why does the gang hate each other? They never disbanded in hatred of each other! Were Fred and Daphne interested in each other in the cartoon? Who decided they should date? Shaggy all of the sudden has an interest in women over food and Scooby?

They went about this all wrong. the only right thing was the parts of Shaggy and Scooby. They were the most true to the original. The director should have played more on the simplicity of the story lines and look of the cartoon rather than dulling it up with a convoluted plot line that is unplausable and is just plain stupid. The director goes on how he mimicked the cartoon but I did not see it anywhere. ...
