Summary: A film about finding your place in the galaxy
Review: A few months ago, I had to explore the horrible "Atlantis: Lost Empire". After that, I didn't expect anything good from Disney anymore, except whne they teamed up with Pixar. They'll keep ruining classics by direct-to-video sequels and we'll just wait until DreamWorks (creators of Shrek and Spirit) knocks them off their course. But when I went into theaters to see their new animated feature, I didn't know I was going to be blown away. The film is about a young Hawaiian girl named Lilo, who is neglected just because she sees the world in a different way. So for companionship, she adopts a strange dog and names him Stitch. Stitch would be the perfect pet, if not in reality he was a genetically created experiment from outer space, created to destroy everything he touches. The alien responsible for Experiment 626 (Stitch's original name, he was just an experiment before Lilo adopted him), Jumba, was taken a prisoner by the Galactic Federation. The beginning of the movie is so unDisneyish. This is a good thing. Disney has hammered audiences with cutesy and cuddily action or no action at all. It's wonderful to see Disney taking a step up. The action only begins there.

The film is full of sly and witty humor. There's plenty of humor for kids and it's also chockful of humor only adults might understand. It's not giving us fart jokes, dumb puns and lame lines (Scooby-Doo perhaps?) but cares to produce humor that is witty and clever. The voice actors are all great. Young Daviegh Chase plays Lilo and Tia Carrere (Cassandra from Wayne's World) voices Lilo's sister Nani. All of the characters are three-dimensional and likable, with little things happening with each of them. The animation is beautiful and completely hand-drawn.

It's a delightful animated feature. Don't take your kids to the wretched Scooby-Doo, try Lilo & Stitch.

Summary: Lilo & Stitch A hit
Review: I have been waiting to see it for about two months now, and was eagerly waiting for it to come out. I finally got to see it with my husband. We are both in our 30's, I am a Disney fan, he is not so much...

I loved this movies, so did my husband.

It's funny, heart-warming, beautifully written and animated, with good characters and a wonderful plot!!

Bring tissues with you though, there are some teary moments.

Stitch was by far my favorite character, but Lilo was also a pleasant surprise. I did not think I would like her, and found myself doing just the opposite. The lonely little girl will hold a special place in your heart.

But the real star, in my opinion, is Stitch. Cute, fluffy & blue, with an edgy attitude.

Go see this movie!!

A true Disney classic!!

Summary: By Far The Greatest Disney Movie I've Ever Seen!
Review: I went to see Lilo and Stitch with thoughts of some sappy, cheesy little kids movie, but I seriously underestimated this film. It was clever, it was funny, it was AWESOME! Stitch is just one of those characters who is just so creepy, weird, and evil that you have no other choice to love him! And you just don't get any cuter characters than Lilo. I think this is by far one of the greatest animated productions that Disney has ever put its name on. Also note that its the first Disney film in a while to get a PG rating. Hmmm...

Summary: A new Disney Classic is born!
Review: Created in a laboratory by an alien mad scientist named Jumba, Experiment 626 is cute and cuddly in appearance, but in reality he is an indestructible creature of destruction. The Galactic Grand Council decides that Experiment 626 must be dealt with, and that his creator must be imprisoned. But Experiment 626 was designed to be smarter than the smartest, tougher than the toughest, downright unstoppable. The little blue creature escapes in no time, stealing a police cruiser and crashing on the planet Earth, in the U.S. state of Hawaii. In the custody of a one-eyed alien officer named Pleakely, Jumba is released to track down and bring back his creation, but this will be no easy task. Their only advantage is that Experiment 626 is trapped on his new island home, since he is completely repulsed by water.
Shortly after being run over by a semi on the highway, 626 is taken to the local dog shelter. While there he decides to disguise himself as a dog, pulling in his extra pair of arms, his dorsals, and his antennae. When an unusual little girl named Lilo, who is distraught and disturbed by the recent death of her parents, is brought in to select a puppy by her older sister, Nani, she discovers that 626 can talk and immediately wants to take him home. Her sister is reluctant, due to the creature obviously being...weird. But take him home they do, Pleakely and Jumba close behind all the while, waiting for their chance to stun and snatch up the little alien. Lilo gives 626 a name, Stitch, and does her best to bond with the little alien, that is rather annoyed by the humans who have dragged him to their home. But Lilo and Nani are dealing with problems of their own. The local Social Worker, a Mr. Cobra Bubbles, is keeping an eye on the two girls, making sure Nani can handle her new responsibilities as gaurdian and provider to her little sister. Things are tough enough with Lilo's quirks, but adding Stitch to the mix only makes matters worse. Lilo, Stitch, and Nani, with the help of their surfer friend David, who is desperate for a date with Nani, must learn to be a family before Mr. Bubbles loses his patience and the Galactic Council claims its prisoners.
Lilo and Stitch is the newest animated feature released from Disney, and an INSTANT classic! This film has everything that some recent animated features have lacked. The characters are quirky and endearing, the story is solid and touching, with lots of excitement and surprises, the art and animation is gorgeous and masterfully done as only Disney can do, the voice casting is wonderful and the classic Elvis tunes give the film such a wonderful individuality against other animated films. Lilo and Stitch is definitely one of the MUST SEE films of this year! Do yourself a favor and see it now!

Summary: Lilo & Stitch was an ok movie potraying Hawaiian Culture
Review: Im a Hawaii born local and took in a showing of "Lilo & Stitch" Overall, it was an ok flick. The pace of the movie should have been PG and not G. There were parts in the movie I found kinda extreme for a G rating. Lilo comes off obnoxious and hostile among her peers and her older sister. I do give points that the voices were Hawaii Actors Tia Carerre and Jason Scott Lee though.

Summary: Breaking the Traditional Formula
Review: I had alot of ideas about what this movie was going to be like. (you know how it is, when you see the trailers you try to piece together all the events to get a general idea of the story) I must admit that this movie was completely different than what I envisioned. It was better.

Ever since The Emperer's New Groove, Disney has been breaking with the traditional Disney Formula. The 3rd disney cartoon to get a PG rating (people often forget The Black Cauldrun was PG) Lilo and Stitch tells the story of a disfunctional family about to be seperated by a social worker. In an effort to make things more "home" like, they decide to get a dog. But instead of a dog, they get Stitch who is a genetic experiment excaped from containment and crashlanded on earth. While Lilo tried to teach Stitch to be a model citizen, the galactic federation sends 2 aliens to retrieve him for captivity.

The story is great, the animation supurb, the backgrounds are mervelous (they had to find the guy who worked on Snow White to teach them the techniques because they were a lost art) and not a single character in this movie is really all good or all bad. Lilo shows her temper, Her big sister shows her dark side, even the social worker who doesn't want to do his job shows aspects of humanity.

one thing that might go over alot of people's heads are the subtle jokes. This movie had alot more subdued jokes than other disney films and many people i know didn't get them and thought the movie was dull and boring. Clearly they cannot appreciate the art of subtle humor. If you thought the movie was boring, go back and see it again and this time LOOK for the jokes alittle more. Yeah that means using your brain, but it's worth it. ;- )

As an animator myself, i am greatly pleased with Lilo and Stitch. Clearly disney is breaking formula, (of course thre's still the overuse of "family" but if you can get by that it's ok) and hopefully disney will continue this trend.

Summary: Finally, something unique and entertaining from Disney
Review: Lilo and Stitch is a wonderful new movie from Disney about a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo who adopts a runaway alien creation that she names Stitch. Stitch is incredibly strong and dangerous, with an instinct to destroy anything he comes in contact with. He can even mutate himself to look like a dog- so, Lilo adopts him.
But there are two aliens from a government who are trying to capture Stitch unsuccessfully. But they fail and are fired. One of the aliens, figuring he has nothing to lose, tries to capture Stitch and destroys Lilo's house. Chaos insues...
Overall, Lilo and Stitch is probably my favorite Disney movie ever. Go and see it!

Summary: Too Violent
Review: Our 4 year old daughter was very excited to go to this movie. With all the pre-merchandising (happy meals, Disney Store, etc.), we were looking forward to another "Monsters, Inc." Yes it was rated PG, but we did not expect so much shooting and shouting in a 'childs movie'. Stitch was always getting shot at, and she we did not enjoy his 'blood' extraction in the beginning. Prior to this movie, our daughter had been exposed to very little 'violence' and a little innocence was lost that day. We left the movie since she started to cry, but waited and returned for the last 5 minutes to see the happy ending. There were good points about the movie, but the shooting scenes were overpowering. Disney, you could have had a winner here but fell way short in our minds. This movie was a wolf in sheep's clothes. Please go back to your Monsters, Inc. formula next year!

Summary: Lilo & Stitch is fabulous...
Review: ... one of the best movies to come out of the Disney studios in a long time. Congratulations to the team at Disney Feature Animation Florida for pulling off a miracle-- a wonderful movie filled with imagination and warmth and heart... not to mention georgeous art, the likes of which haven't been seen in fifty or sixty years.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

(So, what's next for WDFA Florida?)

Summary: Disney grows up, finally.
Review: For those five or six years after "The Lion King", The Mouse got stuck in a rut of overly cutesy, artificially ethnic, ham-fisted movies. (Note: "Mulan", "Pocahontas")But now they are moving away from Michael Eisner's formula of safety, to more mature fare with movies like "Dinosaur", "Atlantis" (in spite of how lackluster it was), and now "Lilo and Stitch", which is far more heady than what's been released this year. Since we adults take kids to the movies, we should take pleasure in them as well. Enough of my tirades.
Every one knows what the movie is about: alien escapes ship, girl finds alien, authorities try to capture them, then a reunion and a happy ending. But it is the way in which Chris Sanders and Daniel Deblois do the movie that sets it apart.
First, the dialog is impeccably realistic. Five years ago, I would have suffered a stroke at hearing a Disney character say "butt" or "chainsaw". This is a welcome evolution. The characters say nothing that we would not say in private.
Next, adequate characterization. None of the cast simply exist to make either Lilo or Stitch look good. Subplots and attitudes are maintained consistently. These people look and sound indigenous, not like Mouseketeers. Disney for once respects Hawaiian animals and language. Need I say more?
Finally, the animation is intimate. American animation is in a very percarious position of having the technology to send a cartoon to the moon, but also having inbred drawing skills that are little better than Hanna-Barbera or Klasky-Csupo. Few have gone beyond those boundaries. All the more reason to exemplify this movie. It hearkens back to the watercolors of the 30's and 40's, and fuses classical style with the occasional CG to engross the viewer.
I apologize if this review is very rambling or stacatto, but I am tired of critics going to movies and looking for Zen instead of seeking enjoyment. To these self-same critics who keep their eyes in their pockets while watching, then go out and tell us what a bad time they had because they saw nothing; they are nothing but, as Plato said, stomachs who do a lot of gurgling but little digesting.
To the average movie-goer or movie-going family, you will be tickled by this sweet little picture.

"Lilo and Stitch" does what the rest of Hollywood cannot--- have fun.
