Summary: Not for Young ones.
Review: Although the theme of this movie is excellent. I feel Disney rushed it to get it out and make money. They did not take the time to keep the beautiful theme they were trying to instill. They created strong characters and wrecked them with too much violence, words such as "stupid" and others and I think really for a small child this is not a great film. My 7 year old neise even had problems understanding the whole ending. I was hoping this would be as heart-flet and warm as it seemed like it wanted to be. I believe Disney just rushed the idea instead of playig it out a little longer. The theme is good, but I think it was poorly written. Like I said too much anger/violence. The sister kicking the car and calling someone a stupid head right off on the first of the movie kind of gave me a bad taste with my son sitting next to me in the theater. I think this would be better for ages 12 and up. Also if Disney took some of the language and action out and made it more loving like the original theme. It IS a great theme and great way to share and think it just was not played out right! Too rushy!

Summary: Good concept sacrificed to the god of cheap laughter
Review: I suppose after "Atlantis" last year I shouldn't be so picky. But this is Disney! Really, I expected more from them than a poorly written, stupid cartoon. Here goes.The movie works with some pretty weighty issues--Lilo and Nani's parents have died, and Lilo is about to be taken away by the social worker. This is the "realistic" side of the flick. I was really looking forward to such a mature concept. Unfortunately, the writers forgot to take into account that when you're dealing with weighty issues, you'd better handle them well. This is where "Lilo & Stitch" failed misrably. The movie handled the idea about as well as bugs bunny would if his parents got a divorce. Yes, it's that bad--and even worse. Let me explain. Throughout the movie, even with the kind of heavy problems at hand, the writers seemed insistant on keeping it "light". Lilo attacks a girl in her class because, hey, it's funny. Nani breaks a window to get into her house (after Lilo has nailed the doors and windows shut) because, hey, it's funny. But we've got serious issues here! Nani and Lilo aren't Syvester and Tweety--they've got real-life problems. All the slapstick jokes and destructive behavior are seriously overshadowed by the severity of the situation! Through the whole movie the more responsible viewers are asking questions of their own. Who's going to fix that window? How much will it cost? Why is Nani cooking with pots and pans? In bulk? What, no microwaves in Hawaii? How does she support Lilo by just working as a waitress? How is she going to pay for the bumper she dented? Why is she frolicking on the beach when the social working is going to take Lilo away? And why doesn't anyone clean up that filthy house? Keep in mind that none of the jokes are even funny; in fact, most of them are just plain mean-spirited. Not to mention that a whole lot of the plot concepts don't make sense. "Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten"--so, are we to expect that if the social worker takes Lilo away, they won't be a family anymore? Frankly, I was hoping he WOULD take her away--at least she'd be living in more sanitary conditions. Other plot points that didn't make sense--Stitch is apparently immune to everything except water, so the guns filled with lasers don't work against him? Or are they filled with water? Lilo squirts Stitch with water, he eats shave ice, and nearly drowns, but hey, he's just fine. Confused? I was. Where did Lilo get that tiny Elvis outfit that fit Stitch perfectly? Why should we feel sorry for Lilo because her "friends" won't play with her? After what Lilo did to them, I don't blame 'em! Why do the writers expect us to sympathize with characters who are so darn mean to everyone? It's their own fault life's not working out for them. Realistic? No way. Twisted logic? Yup. For those of you who think that the folks who don't like this movie have got issues against "broken families", let's take a trip to the happy land of common sense. Do you honestly believe that they'd like this movie better if it featured a traditional family? (oh, and by the way, it does.) How about if it featured the most broken family in the world? Do you think that make it even better? What if---What if "Lilo & Stitch" had the most incredible watercolor animation ever seen? And the greatest Elvis music? What if Hawaii were the best place on earth? What if Nani had the most realistic figure in the world? Well, then, SO WHAT?! IT WOULD STILL BE A ROTTEN FLICK! And here's why: None of those things can stand on their own. WRITING is the foundation of each and every single movie, and "Lilo & Stitch" has such terrible writing, it will most likely be considered the worse feature Disney has ever put out. (I'm giving it less than 10 years.) Pixar is doing so well--BECAUSE it KNOWS that "story is king"! Pixar could make a story about a ROCK and it would STILL be good! "Lilo & Stitch" had Hawaii, aliens, families, Elvis, and watercolor--and it was still a flop. I was hoping for a story that would be original and creative, with clever jokes and dialog, but I didn't think with so many different concepts that it would still manage to be unoriginal, poorly paced, violent, cruel, badly badly written, and just plain stupid. But congratulations, Disney, you pulled it off.

Summary: A real Disney treasure
Review: Who would have thought the story of a fugitive, mass-destructive alien crashlanding on Earth could give lessons in the struggle of low-income families, biological engineering, how hard it is to grow up "different", and the meaning of family? It does it all and more in Lilo & Stitch. This is the first Disney movie since The Lion King to inspire that deep-down connection that we yearn for and find very seldom anymore in me. The Hawaiian ambience is beautifully rendered with music and the watercolor backgrounds, and shows that it isn't idyllic in paradise, with Nani desperately trying to hold down a job and support her problematic little sister Lilo. Then enter Stitch, aka Experiment 626, a bio-engineered alien lifeform programmed to destroy. Escaping from exile on an asteroid belt, he crashlands on Hawaii, where he is taken in to an animal shelter--and adopted by Lilo. Meanwhile, the scientist that created Stitch and an alien Earth enthusiast are sent to reclaim the experiment. It is action-packed, but the story is cohesive and drags you in. It proves that everyone deserves a second chance and that "ohaha means family, and family means that no one is left behind."

Summary: A beautiful movie.
Review: Like many other reviewers--I came to this movie expecting something much different--something light and zany a la the Emperor's New Groove. Instead what I saw was the best movie of 2002. It asks a very serious (though expertly disguised behind beautiful watercolor animation and a great deal of very funny scenes) question--what does it means to be part of a family. Its answer: unconditional love between, and mutual responsbility to, each other. A truly wonderful film.

Summary: It's about family
Review: My husband grew up on Maui and remembers with great fondness what it was like growing up with the Aloha feeling in the air. This movie was able to bring that all back to him. I was about to cry during a very poignant moment in the movie and turned to him for comfort only to find that he was crying. I had to be the strong one! It would be wonderful for more people to understand the feeling of Aloha and how important it is to be ohana. The movie is well done and beautifully animated. The characters reminded my husband of people he grew up with . The body shapes of the characters were very stereotypical of the native Hawaiians. These were real people, not some fantasy image that no one could relate to. I look forward to sharing this one with my children. I want them to know that they are ohana--family.

Summary: Disney's Fresh New Look
Review: Personally I loved this movie so much because it's very different from all the Disney stories I've watched since I was a little girl. It offers a contemporary look to issues like science and family values, so important for our society. Also like any of the main characters we can laugh and cry with them while watching the movie. Sincerely it's a beautiful movie full of good things to think about.

Summary: DISNEY MAKES A KEEPER...
Review: I went to see Lilo & Stitch expecting a cutesy movie about a spunky Hawaiian child and her alien pal. It turned out to be a touching story about what it means to be family. It takes the fanciful story of an alien coming to Earth and uses it to discuss death in a family, children acting out, the struggle of low income families to stay together, and love. I sincerely hope Disney continues to help children peek into other cultures in this way. A child from the inner city of New York can identify with the messages in this movie while learning about an entirely different culture. It is literally doing us a "world" of good. I will definitely purchase this movie.

Review: What do you get when you add a bunch of adorable characters, an alien with a behavior problem, hula dancing, and elvis? Why, "Lilo and Stitch", of course! As one of the most enjoyable movies of the year, also as my personal favorite, "Lilo and Stitch" offers a wide range of entertainment for all ages! Adorable, heart-warming, and hilarious, this movie can really touch you. This has got to be on of the most immaginative and unique movies of all time, and of course from Disney you should expect no less. When a mad-scientist creates the most powerful creation in the world, what happens? Of course he gets thrown into jail. Experiment 626, Stitch, escapes from the United Galatic Federation's grasp and high-tails it down to Earth where he meets up with Lilo, and her sister Nani. At the moment these two are having family issues, and only one philosophy quote is binding them: "Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind. Or forgotten." Lilo tries to help her new "puppy", Stitch, become a modeled citizen, while Jumba Jookiba, his creator, is trying to capture him. Overall, just take a Disney movie, stir in one alien with a BAD behavior, a mad scientist on his tail with a low tolerance level, a really high stung social worker, and two sisters in the middle of a family crisis, and what do you get? One big old Disney adventure! This movie was extremely heart warming and great for children and adults alike. It teaches you the importance of family, friendship, trust. And acceptance. Summary: Lilo and Stitch is the best movie I've ever seen!
Review: I like Lilo and stitch because the movie was entertaining and very funny. I am only 10 years old. Lilo and Stitch taught me things like you shouldn't judge people by what they look like and not to call people names and other things. The movie got me started on Elvis and my parents are suprised because I know most of the words to mast of his songs. I also liked the hawaiian music which was joyful and relaxing. I like the movie so much I saw it 6 times. (I was shooting for 10 times. I am trying to get most of the Lilo and Stitch toys and plush which is great quaity! The movie is very, very humorious and it's quite hard to make me laugh but boy did that make me laugh!!! I liked the scenery and characters. I also like the characters voices!! And that's why I like the movie "LILO AND STITCH"

Summary: A wonderful DVD
Review: It seems crazy to add another review to the hundreds already here . . . still, here goes. LILO & STITCH is a charming and often hilarious film which goes slightly soggy in the second half due to a heavy dose of sentimentality (apparently obligatory in recent animated films.) Adults alone will notice this, most children and teens will adore the film. I noticed that the movie received mixed reviews in the media, some critics apparently bored by it. What makes it exceptional for me is the quality of the drawing and the dazzling skill of the animators' work. Backgrounds have the appearance of watercolors and the characters have a freshness and liveliness that is enchanting. The two sisters and their ferocious alien pet are adorable in a way that very few recent cartoon characters have been. At a stage when many audiences are tiring of overly-rendered animations, this NURB-free tour-de-force is very welcome. I am not criticizing wonderful films like SHREK, TOY STORY or MONSTERS INC -- simply saying that a return to the freehand aesthetics of BAMBI (which LILO & STITCH in some measure offers) is a real treat. We all know that computers are here to stay in the world of animation, but the Disney studios have made this animation look as though a highly skilled team of real, live artists hand-painted every cell. That makes for rare and delicious fruit. If you haven't seen this film, please do yourself a favor and enjoy a special treat!
