Rating: Summary: GOOD FOR A CHICK FLICK Review: This movie is a great film. I'm a dude, so this is from a guys perspective. Jamie Lee Curtis, you would see in "halloween" and "true lies". In this film she takes a different role as a teenage mother. Lindsay Lohan you would see here in "The Parent Trap". The acting is really good. Its a movie that is really funny. And usually I'm not use to these type of movies like "Agent Cody Banks". Like what the f***! This is a chick flick but you guys would really like this film. It is a film that is funny and smart. Its a must see.
Rating: Summary: A generation gap gone berserk but in a good way Review: All too often the mother-teenage daughter saga is portrayed painfully and with little humor or room for laughter. This story dispels the myth that mothers and daughters are incapable of seeing eye-to-eye with a movie standard plot of the body switch twist. Anna played ever so convincingly by Lindsay Lohan and her mom-trying-to-be-super-mom a young widow Tess played masterfully by Jamie Lee Curtis combat each other through cliche arguments with great animation until they switch bodies by the intermeddling of a chinese grandmother. Anna takes off with her mother's credit card and enjoys a morning makeover for her mother's body all the while trying to juggle several beeping beepers, cell phones and pagers. Tess on the other hand braces herself as her daughter with her daughter's nemesis teachers, other caddy high school girls, the members of Anna's band, a pain of a younger brother and a boy crush. Mark Harmon plays Tess's fiance who's patiently trying to come to terms with Tess's family even on a good day.The performances and chemistry bewteen Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan makes this movie a perfect comedy of errors and resolution. This is a wonderful family movie, date movie or just a great movie comedy in general.
Rating: Summary: Funny, Funny, Funny! Review: This movie is awesome! Its really funny and has great music! I've seen it a million times, I really enjoy watching it with my family!
Rating: Summary: A good lesson Review: When I watched this movie,I saw that the mom and daghther don't like each other very much. So those fortune cookies came in handy. They saw what each others life was like, they saw that both of thier lives had bad turns. The daughter has her big break to preform at the House of Blues but the mom was still in the daghters body and she succeded, the mother was going to get married that night the daghter preformed that's the night they swithed.
Rating: Summary: A great lesson Review: The mom and kid did not like each other much, they swithed bodys because of fortune cookies. They hated each other! But they found that each others lives both had some bad twist and turns, but they learned to exept each other.
Rating: Summary: crappiest of the crap Review: this movie really sucked. It was so bad, that it actually slowed down time to make viewing it all the more painfull. it is your typical disney movie, with all their little crappy disney one liners and thier stupid disney lesson to be learned at the end. Add in a horrible band of one of the main characters and you have grade A crap.
Rating: Summary: Coooool! It's a guy movie, too... Review: My parents actually saw this film before I did. Seeing as how we never go to the movies, pay-per-view has become a luxury. When they saw this, they were psyched! I was skeptical, of course. The ole' switcheroo? Again? How many "body-swapping" movies are they gonna make, anyway? For quite some time, I fought my way out of not seeing this film...BIG MISTAKE!!! I was stunned at actually how original this film was! Disney has, of late, run out of original films. I've become quite bored with it, really. But this film was tight! It was nothing like the original film. Not even a real re-make, I would say. There were so many surprises, it exhausted me, but I watched again a few hours later. The climax is cool, probably the best part of the movie. That's the way it should be. I also enjoyed the depth brought to the Chinese characters who initiate the switching spell. They're not just walk-ons. Now, enough of this blabbering. I could write about this film all day, but I'm gonna get down to business. PLOT: A widowed businesswoman and her distant punk/rocker daughter switch places after a Chinese spell is placed on them in the middle of a restaurant. In order to return to their own bodies, they must truly learn selfless love, and how to be a rock star (you'll understand when you see it). PROS: Funny, smart, romantic, musically oriented, great actors (Jamie Curtis is hilarious) CONS: There are cons?
Rating: Summary: Great Family Fun! Review: Wonderful updated remake of the Disney classic- I loved the cast and story of this fun fantasy flick. The return of the Disney live action film has been a joy- and needed since their recent animation outings have not been nearly as interesting ( PIXAR films ie Nemo/Toy Story are excluded from this group) This disk itself is an improvement over other recent Disney disks- are they getting their quality issues taken care of? No sticking on first viewing. I have found consistent quality issues with recent Disney DVD purchases- was happy this one was in good shape from first viewing.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie for the family! Review: We saw this in the theater and own the DVD. We loved the movie and so did our 8 and 5 year old daughters. The interplay between Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan is fantastic. The movie is often comedic and over the top, but ultimately pulls at the heartstrings. The identity switching gimmick isn't original of course, but it gives a great glimpse of how a little change in perspective helps us understand each other. Now my 8-year-old is an aspiring rock guitarist!
Rating: Summary: "I can't marry Ryan, ewwwww." Review: Who knew that there was still some life left in the "body-switch" film? Mark S. Waters' modern-day remake of "Freaky Friday" has got to be one of the more pleasant surprises of recent memory as it turns out to be filled with more fun and wit than anyone would have expected. It is proof positive that what worked before can work again if done with the proper amount of care and creativity. Psychiatrist Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) has her hands full preparing for her upcoming wedding. Not making matters easier for Tess is her rebellious daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) who is having difficulties at school and is not too excited at the prospect of having a new father in her life. After the two of them get into a fight at a Chinese Restaurant, they are each given a fortune cookie by an elderly Chinese woman (Lucille Soong). Mother and daughter both read their fortune and express amusement, but the joke is on them as they wake up the next morning and find themselves in the other's body. "Freaky Friday" works because its two central performances are so strong. Curtis hits all the right notes in a great comedic turn and Lohan sparkles in a winning performance that is reminiscent of her previous solid work in "The Parent Trap" (1998). Lohan proves to be the most charming young actress working today as she energizes every scene she appears in by radiating a natural charm that is wonderfully endearing. Both actresses are supported by a clever script and quality work from actors Ryan Malgarini, Mark Harmon, Harold Gould, and Chad Murray. The only problems with the film are its weak soundtrack and the unflattering stereotypical portrayals of the Chinese women. Yet, Curtis and Lohan are so good that they help to elevate "Freaky Friday" above its shortcomings. Those magical, unsolicited fortune cookies sure are good for a lot of fun moments when given to the right people.
